One of the reasons I'm excited about Seider is I read the scouting reports and liked him, watched the footage I could find and liked him, then Yzerman drafted him high which felt extremely validating, but then, and this is this important part, I watched his interviews. The kid is gregarious and has a strong character. He was very comfortable in the spotlight despite feigning that he was nervous. The most I've seen of this from an 18 year old foreign born player maybe ever. That was the cherry on the top. Kids gonna kill. Hope he starts this year.

I so much want to checkout during the summer, but I think this site will die if any of us did that. And this is why we must over-analyze all summer and start flame wars, for the good of the forum...

This one? Not really my style, but the flag on the back is kinda tight. I'd honestly prefer it with 50 stars, but yeah the shutdown of this shoe because of the flag is beyond moronic. Lets not even get started. No, like I said I don't think this was ever a game worn jersey. Just a one-off for the fans. I've always liked coloring the number personally, gives a jersey some subtle pop. You're right that would be pretty sweet actually. Some flags might be harder to do thou. Bummer, they probably only make certain models here. I've got a "shoe guy" who hooks me up at cost on other brands, so I don't buy New Balance anymore. But fun story, I called this guy right after the China Tariffs were announced to pick his brain on how they were gonna deal with the tariffs (all their shoes are made in China). He says "all of our business will be moved to Vietnam within the week". So do tariffs work? Eh probably not, big companies will just move to the next cheapest country. But I do think the sanctions are puttin' the hurt on China more than anyone realizes. Sorry I've gone way off track.

I wouldn't go that far. I used to watch a lot more hockey. I don't have as much free time these days... I used to watch a lot of CHL games (mostly with Wings prospects), 50-60 Griffins games a season, and every Wings game. Now I barely watch anything outside of Wings games (still don't miss a single game), and maybe 10-20 Griffins games, and nothing noteworthy outside of that... I never voted Trudeau. You hate Canadians? Me neither. I know as much about politics as Jonas knows about hockey...

Uwe Krupp isn´t even liked in Germany... What do you need the talentest player for if he only shows up every other game. I would then prefer a guy who is less talented but gives his all every shift and Mannheim wants team first players

Character above talent, that is the philosophy the coach and the GM of Adler Mannheim have and they really like him. Seider had won Yzerman over during his draft interview with him. it took more than 40 minutes which was more than double the average time of his interviews with the other teams. I´m not sure, but I believe Yzerman would have picked Seider even if Byram would have been available. He has a real strong character, will and a lot of confidence not bigheaded and very humble. Yesterday I read in his hometown paper that he has the mindset to make detroit, so fingers crossed. I haven´t found it yet, but probably someone here can get the footage of the GER-USA game in Mannheim before the WC. There you can see how he does against NHL competition and make up your mind.

I'd rather not. Reddit great for many things, but I come to LGW for the sense of community feeling reddit just doesn't have.

We got Erne for a 4th. Erne was drafted in the 2nd and has shown potential in the NHL... so basically a young 3rd liner for a draft pick that has like a 10% chance of ever becoming an NHL player. No reason to be disgruntled about this deal. A 2nd round player for a 4th round pick... who Yzerman demonstrably wants. Good deal. I like. If Svechnikov can't make the team cause Erne is there then Svech can eat s*** and die for all I care.

I think one of the reasons why Yzerman makes such good deals and has such good relationships with other GM's is because when it comes to small moves like this, he does just that. If you offer sheet a team for a player like that, I think you just make an enemy.

Kip is like the smartest guy on here, and he served in the military so i love him. But then he votes democrat and works for the feds in DC so I hate him. KRS knows more about prospects than anyone on here, and likes a lot of my posts, so I love him. But then he votes for Trudeau and is Canadian so I hate him. Both of them need to get their s*** together IMO

r/detroitredwings is great for breaking news and fun facts, but reddit conversations are so surface level and lacking depth. Comments like "Yzerman is lit fam, rise to the top" and real discussion goes unnoticed. It's also completely lacking in any sense of comradery or community. On LGW I know who has something between their ears and who's full of s***. I know who favors rebuilding and who favors going for the cup. I know who follows prospects and knows there stuff and who doesn't. Reddit is full of randos and you have no idea who you're talking to on a daily basis. Call it clicky and highschoolish, but I'd say the true hardcores are still at LGW. Only the fairweathers make their way to reddit. Reddit is a dying site anyway... you're about 4 or 5 years late to the party there Jiim. I give it 3 more years before most users have moved on to the next thing. Reddit lost a lot of its luster in the past 2 years as they've tried to go corporate mainstream. Same thing happened to Dig before them. If you like LGW and want something more involved for the time being, go to HF boards. Reddit is s***.

Exactly. And it appears he's on the hunt for competitive players. To me, other than preaching patience, and obviously tanking, this is the only sign of any kind of real Yzer-plan. Build a team of gamers.
