LOL Remember how Jonas used to disappear for days last year only to pop up like some dweeb coworker showing up to troll your office party anytime AA had a good game. Thankfully it wasn't that often.

Members of that Russian forum believe that the info source is not very credible. Maybe Y can trade him during the draft and get it over with.

    AA traded to oilers

Going into this season, I don't think anyone expected THIS level of awful. We finished last season strong and the team looked refreshed after the TDL. I think many people, including myself, expected that post TDL success to carry over into next season a little. I wasn't expecting the playoffs or anything, but I was expecting progress from young players and some steps in the right direction. Instead we have experienced humiliating full on regression of the entire team. What changed? Yzerman took over. I think Blash saw the writing on the wall same as we all did. He knew this would be his last season. He just let the chips fall with no regard. He went from a below average NHL coach to a pride-less apathetic imbecile in one summer. Nothing will assuage my bloodlust for his head. I've been drinking.

I really can't see Blashill staying. I might take a year off watching the NHL if he's still our coach. I can't suffer through another year of him. "The team has played hard" under him? Really? Not sure what he's seeing that would indicate that. Getting blown out by 3+ goals every night doesn't show that they're "working hard". They look disorganized as hell and aside from a few players, I really don't see anyone out there working hard and its been that way for years. This team has the potential to be the worst in the history of the franchise. Praising Blashill is mind boggling, for sure.

It's also ironic since he's the one that created threads such as "The Elite Dylan Larkin", "I Love Larkin", and "When does Larkin get the C?"... I don't know much about the Sens fan base. Hell, I don't know a single Sens fan (or at least they won't admit it)... But who doesn't deserve getting multiple top 3-5 picks is Eugene Melnyk / Pierre Dorion... THAT's what pisses me off. An owner / general manager mismanaging talent for years, and getting more elite talent thrown in their lap once again...

Their fans don't deserve it. They didn't even sell out when they made the Conference finals a little while back ffs.

A lot of s*** went wrong. There is no one person that the blame for it all falls on either. We lost Kronwall, which hurt the team more than most realize. He was excellent last season. Having Kronwall, Hronek, Dekeyser and a less terrible Green in the lineup, and our d was infinitely better last season. This year it's been Hronek all on his own, and even he is hurt right now. Nemeth and Flip are stop gaps. They were never gonna move the needle. Howard has also been otherworldly bad this year. A team lacking depth like this squad needs a lot of things to go right to find success. This year about everything went wrong. The old players regressed hard, Howard s*** the bed, and opponents know to zero in on the one good line we have to shut s*** down. Guys like Mantha missed more games than were played. Just a comedy of misfortune. Blaming it on Blash as if he saw the writing on the wall is silly. Even if he feels he has no future here, the man still gotta coach for future work. Let's get to the good news. No more Green, Daley, Ericsson or Howard. Addition by subtraction. We're gonna get an impact player with a top 4 pick. Guys like Seider will make the team. Guys like Zadina should improve. Guys like Larkin should bounce back, as he has done before. Will we suck? Absolutely. But it'll be less painful to watch next time.

I've never watched this kid and ever noticed anything. He's boring and not all that great at anything. I like his size I guess? I'm always a fan of a big skilled guy, but then he's also completely undeveloped away from the puck. My honest projection of his cieling is big Patrick Eaves 2.0. I guess I just dont care about him at this point. Hopefully he's actually really good and the injury is still holding him back, I just doubt it. *Depress*

In their first 10 months, the trades are Yzerman: 8 Toronto: 7 Colorado: 3 Also, my "nothing really stands out" comment was meant for Toronto. I did admit in my post that the O'Reilly trade was the biggest shake up. It was a bold move. But it also came the off season after Sakic took over. I wouldn't be surprised if Yzerman had a bit of a shake up this off season.

I have no words about the rollercoaster that was the first 4 pages of this thread, holy hell. I don't even know what to do here. I'm just as bored as you guys are at this point of the season. Thanks for sticking around all year to most of you who have consistently posted. We reached a giant height of strange here, let's settle it down a tad and i'll move along. Have fun, just remember it's a hockey thread also.

I think some of you guys are way too short sighted and/or don't know how asset management works, specifically when it involves players. As an example: Daley is worth a 5th round pick. As much as people thinks he sucks, he's still a veteran NHL defenseman, which has some value. If no one is interested in trading a 5th for him, you have 2 options. 1: Stand pat and hold on to him. Or 2: trade him for a lesser value. A lot of you would choose the latter. Trade all the past-their-prime vets for peanuts if you have to. Just get rid of them. There's one problem with that. Yzerman would develop a bad reputation among the players. In 5 years or so when this team needs to acquire better players thru free agency or trade, why would they want to come here? A big name player may fear signing a big contract to play in Detroit out of fear that Yzerman will just dump him for a bag of pucks once his play no longer matches his pay, which often happens towards the end of long term contracts. As a result, players with NMC may refuse a trade to come here. UFAs may insist on a NMC in their contract because they don't trust Yzerman not to do that to them as well. They may demand more money or just not sign with the Wings at all. How does that benefit the long term success of this team at all? Players are not lifeless objects. They're human beings. The more you treat them like "things" and less like people, the less likely they are to want to work for you. That's not to say that a GM should be a pushover, a good GM isn't. But you have to be able to juggle what's best for the team with what's best for the players. And getting a 7th round draft pick for guys like Daley would be insulting, and the short term benefit to the team wouldn't be worth it in the long run.
