Unbelievably bad goal.

Conspiracy or not, you have to note a correlation between bad calls and game outcomes no? Conspiracy or not, you have to note a correlation between bad calls and popular or large market teams no? Conspiracy or not, you have to recognize that the league makes a ton more money when they have large market or popular teams advance no? Now anyone with an actual education knows that correlation does not equal causality... but it does make an educated person want to form hypothesis and test them. Investigate, or at least bring it to the attention of the world. I am saying out and out the league plans who wins, I just think there are too many coincidences going on here with bad calls. There is undoubtedly some major correlation going on. The business argument makes the most sense to me, and we all know businessmen are not well known for their ethics. I hypothesize that the league simply makes it well known what the best scenarios are, and the instructions are in the absolute worst case scenario where a call is as close as possible, error on the side of profit. Is that really such a far-fetched scenario? I also feel like there are times, and this is apparent both in series as well as in games, that the whistles are put away to allow more competition. I think that this correlation of not making calls on teams that are too far behind happens enough to suggest the league knows the power of officiating, and how it can be used to make the product better. That is to say, affect the course of the game for a more dramatic form. Do they get in a room and say, we are going to steal games 2 and 5 for this team? No way, because that would ruin the sport faster than anything. However, if the league knows what is best, and the refs do as well, they can without saying a word make the close calls go one way. Really it can be as little as one call that changes the entire game or series. I could site many games. We all know about Homer, we all know about the Pens, we all know about Chicago and Nashville. It happens to many more teams as well. Conspiracy or not, that has to be happening. It just seems to happen far too often. I also think we should recognize that is has happened in our favor over the years as well. The NHL is run clean 99% of the time, and they make mistakes like humans do. Combine the two and you have a great tapestry of mistakes, and an indistinguishable duo of frustrating failure. This leaves many fans crying conspiracy, and a much greater number crying prove it. No one can, unless someone speaks up. Conspiracy or no, we have to deal with these bad calls. I just use my education to suggest that their are correlations we should investigate. -

I'm just going to come out and say that I think they're going to lose because the Hawks will be fighting hard to keep their playoffs spot, but I am hoping like heck that we embarrass the crap out of them and give them an extended spring break. If we don't win these two, I'm not going to stress as long as they show more focus in the playoffs, so it's not a big deal at all in the long run, but I do enjoy the smell of burning bird on a Friday evening, nonetheless. -

We are Wings fans. The entire point is to be happy when things go our way. Second, these are the Hawks we are talking about. We hate the Hawks and are going to be pissed about it. Third, the puck DEFLECTED off Bertuzzi's skate after his foot made the kicking motion. It was not due to the momentum of his foot that the puck went into the net. Then stop getting involved in the thread and focus on other things? People are pissed about the call. They are going to say so on a Wings discussion board. Just because you think it is understandable doesn't mean it is crazy for others to think it wasn't. FIBS: For all the talking out of your ass you seem to have an issue with finding evidence of anything you say. -

Glad to hear my meds are working. I did dig this out just to verify. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2009/06/red_wings_pavel_datsyuk_played.html On topic. Maybe we should give some guys a rest. Is it really worth it to risk a key player, for what are really kind of meaningless games. Sure I'd like to finish above the Sharks and eliminate The Hawks all in 2 games. But is it really that important if we lose Pav, Nick, Mule, (add your crucial player here) to do so. Why take the chance. Call up our AHL goons and let them have at The Hawks. :punch: Do we even have Cap room to bring a few guys up? Do we even have any goons? s***. -

1 pointThe whole idea that there has to be "conclusive evidence" to overturn an on-ice officials' call is actually bogus. Which is interesting, as it is always presented to us in this way. The actual rules concerning goal reviews: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26326 Once it goes to review, Toronto makes the sole decision - completely regardless of what the on-ice call was. The war room is not "over-ruling" anything, as once it goes to review the on-ice call is void. Every single called goal should be reviewed to ensure the puck was indeed in the net. In this case, every angle showed Hossa kick the puck. No angle showed he made contact with his stick and no angle showed the puck over the line. 100% no goal, according to NHL rules. The video review judge does •not• need to overrule the on-ice official in any way or show conclusive proof something did 'not' happen. The decision is the review judge's alone. EDIT: So if I am reading this right, the impetus on the reviewer's part is to prove it •was• a goal, not that it was •not• a goal. Big difference. That's exactly the opposite of how it is always presented to us "War room needs conclusive evidence to overturn an on-ice call". There is zero video evidence in this case that was a goal. That is what is important. IMO, this just makes this debacle worse.

The same stupid s**t from the kumbayah clan who have to have cheerleading circle-jerk. When will you all ever learn? If you all want to have your own pages or sections of the happy cheerleading section and nothing else, cool. Nobody will stop you, none of these supposed Debbie Downers will, if you want to keep people like that out, have at it. IT'D BE YOUR OWN SECTION. I certainly wouldn't come in and spoil the mood and be an ass. However, this is not your own private playground. Do I always like Negative Nancies or giving suggestion that we could be in trouble? No. However, I understand that others have opinions and they need to vent them sometimes, even though I might not like it most the time. When it isn't my personal playground, I'll shut up and let them have their moments. And from what I've skimmed here, not many people are suggesting Biblical plagues or that we are done before we have even started. They are expressing legitimate concerns that have been consistent across this team lately, and all these same people want the Wings to win as well. Now, if it was my own personal space or playground and I saw some of these blurbs or comments on them where I had full authority to do what I want or delete them, would I? In all likelihood yes. This isn't my personal playground, this isn't your personal playground either, this is nobody's personal playground alone. You want to be a cheerleader? Cool. Shut the f**k up and let others have their moments without being absolute pr**ks when nobody is suggesting such attitudes or saying ZOMG THEY SUCK THEY ALL NEED TO GO NOW!!!!!!! It is just as aggravating, if not more, than people that suggest we are screwed before we have even started. I used to be the same way a lot and it's not worth the time. Please learn silence sometimes when it's not your own personal battlestation where you control all the rules. EDIT: Now as for the game itself, I wasn't overly disappointed. The outcome stunk of course, but the effort was there pretty much, Ward was just in a zone unfortunately. If they can bring this effort most games, I am encouraged by a deep playoff run, but inconsistency with effort and execution still plagues this team. So I am not sure really what to think or be accurate with. If this is a negative nancy post to some of you, sorry. -

Turco making bets during game
commadore183 reacted to 55fan for a post in a topic
Gambling is against the rules. Period. If a fiver is ok, how about 10? 20? 50? 100? 1000? 3,127.46? Even if it is Canadian money, it's still currency. The fine should be the same as the wager. He should be fined 5 Canadian dollars upon which he must write "Turco rules". Upon collection of the bill, Colon Campbell shall cross out "Turco" and write "Campbell". The bill shall be passed through the glass to a random Habs fan. In the meantime, Turco must have an evaluation for compulsive gambling, and must refrain from any gambling of any sort. I hear he's giving 10 to 1 odds that he never bets again, and will go double or nothing during the playoffs. -
