    Eric Nystrom on waivers

There is a reason why the Wild waived him, if he can't fit in on the Wild's roster, which is not deep by anyone's definition, why would it be different for the Wings? Brunnstrom showed heart and hard play and earned a contract, Nystrom got bounced from a team expected to contend for a lottery pick. Gotta get the enforcer glasses off, he just doesn't fit in the depth chart anywhere. Sorry.

October 2011 Schedule Wallpaper Now Available!

I'm changing it up a bit this season and NOT going with a monthly "featured" player (at least for this month, depending on feedback). Oftentimes the addition of a player messes with the layout when adjusting for other aspect ratios, or I have a rough time finding a nice, high-resolution picture to use. I hope you like this year's edition! Widescreen: 1920x1200 | 1920x1080 | 1680x1050 |1440x900 | 1366x768 | 1280x800 4:3: 1600x1200 | 1400x1050 | 1280x960 | 1280x1024 Enjoy!

    10/6 NHL GDT

Rinaldo is a tough kid, but he has a size disadvantage against many guys, let alone Chara. The Flyers have some bigger heavies in the minors, but I don't see anyone in their lineup tonight who'll fight Chara and win. Unfortunately, Lilja doesn't drop the gloves anymore, because he doesn't want his teammates to become accomplices to murder. It is what it is.

    Eric Nystrom on waivers

Useless punching talent? Do you hate every NHL player who's ever dropped the gloves or something? Nystrom is more than just a useless puncher. He had a down year last season, but that doesn't mean he's finished. I just don't see Drew Miller as a useful player here anymore, especially since about 75% of our forwards can kill penalties. Nystrom is at least a better checker than Miller and could give us a little more nastiness on our 4th line to play against. The OP summed him up a little better than you did. I still don't think Holland will make this move and it's not a big deal either way, but it wouldn't hurt.

    Brunnstrom is signed.

Holmstrom started his career wearing 15 and switched to a higher number ending in 6, and is Swedish... coincidence? I think not!

    Caps, Pens schedule benefit

I know this may not be a popular post but is there some type of control on any donations for the http://loveforlokomotiv.com/ or the one the Pens/Caps are doing? We can all agree the plane crash was a tragedy but putting that aside here, we gotta think about this. In a time of world economic crisis they are asking we donate money to families of people who got to play hockey and many made a great living doing it. I can totally understand for flight attendants, pilots, trainers, medical staff, players and anyone else on the plane that didn't make a large amount of cash. But if I was to donate I for sure don't want it going to the wives of families of players that are already rich beyond what a majority of us will ever attain. So I just hope there is some type of control on the donations. Otherwise good stuff.

Ben didn't headbutt his shoulder. Brendan threw a high risk hit and missed, only clipping the head. Now he's getting punished for it. Here's the way it should be done. compared to the wrong way. Vladdy takes a better angle and is coming in low for the hip check. He's got his body lined up properly with Lemieux's, so even when Turtle tries to avoid the hit, Konstantinov makes solid contact with him. Brendan came east west and was going to miss, so he threw a shoulder, which has an extremely high chance of clipping a guy in the head. Ben Smith didn't have his head extraordinarily low. It was where most guy's would be when they're carrying the puck. I think the suspension is too long, but this was not Ben Smith's fault because of a toe drag move or having his head too low.

It's not so bad. Many times I've watched an opposing team and wondered who someone is but wasn't able to get his number to look him up. I recognize the marquee players, but 4th line RW for the Panthers? Um, not so much. It's not garish. I could just as easily do without, but it's not like "Amway presents #25" or something.

    Red Wings Sponsor?

    A) I know a guy who lost $15,000 alone in products that people under him "bought" and didn't pay for. It wasn't in one fell swoop, but the way the numbers are incessantly distorted by the higher ups and with all the propaganda and "positivity," it's a matter that easily gets overlooked. And it's most certainly not a matter in which Amway/Quixtar was willing to help him out on at any point in time, despite him making the effort. I'm not sure what they have in print on the matter, but I think most anyone with a bit of knowledge on their inner workings understands that the written rules don't dictate the way the company is run. They're just their to satisfy lawmakers for a little while and give the impression of security and support. B) Opinion: maybe not technically illegal, but most positively should be. It's not hard to draw lines in the sand for good reason and enforce them with common sense. The intricacy of the legal manipulation of the law is where it gets muddy. The common sense, no-nonsense approach to enforcement would be simple: if you're more concerned with selling people on a business opportunity than selling the "product" you're supposedly selling, shut it down. It's bound to lead to scams and schemes that do society on whole no good. The source of any profits would clearly paint the picture too. C) Sure, again, it is their own problem if they get caught up in it, but it doesn't excuse the purveyor of the scheme. Amway's business is built on lies and deceit. Blogging is a trap that's completely self-contained. You're not surrounded by a circle of people that are trying to isolate you from those that bring common sense to the table. There's no huge propaganda machine working directly in people's lives in so many different ways to trap you in, much like a cult does. Amway's psychological attack strategies are fairly unique and one of the primary and most-alarming problems with the whole system. It's the poison that makes Amway most dangerous. D) again, not their fault? To me, it's the same as saying it's not a drug dealers fault people are drug addicts. It's as if it wasn't their plan to get people involved in such a manner. Make no mistake, everything Amway does is very intentional. It's not a happy accident they stumbled upon at all. Furthermore, again and again it's been illustrated how much the business hurts people, yet they continue to push it with more and more steam. I mean...I mean...I'm about to go caps lock here against my better judgement...I MEAN, WHY DOES ANYONE THINK THEY'RE TRYING TO NOW GET LINKED UP WITH THE RED WINGS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It's just another door they're trying to pry open to get into people's heads with a system they know will almost certainly be a drain on peoples money, time and relationships. They know the score. They know exactly what they're doing. Make no mistake about it.

    Red Wings Sponsor?

These two crackpots who started this fiasco think they own the city of Grand Rapids. Their names are on everything in that town. DeVos also tried to run for governor, and got his ass kicked by Jennifer Granholm. He couldn't own everyone, thank God. I'm with the one who said they would write a letter to protest this. I love my team, and I always will. The love for the Wings goes back almost 50 years (yes, I'm that old), longer than most marriages last. But this is too much.
