GCL works on many things now. All you really need is internet and something that access the internet. computer, console, htpc/media center boxes, smartphones, tablets (computer/smartphone), I believe even some smart tvs have the ability to get it.

    Hudler?

I figured we should just have a thread for this because it comes up in every other thread at least once. A strong start for Hudler, and Mursak a few weeks away... How much does he have to do to make him a valuable trading commodity? EDIT: Alright I am done, there is no reason for a negative 12 for simply making a placeholder for the conversation we always have. It was done so every other thread doesn't turn into it. So go ahead delete it whatever. I don't care, I don't much care for online hate. Got like plus three for running a draft thread that took my entire evening and get a negative 12 for a post to try and keep other threads clean. I am sick of anonymous internet hate.

I have switched to only internet for everything home phone (skype), t.v (Netflixusversionsomuchbetter;), mobile texting (txtdrop.com), and my NHL come from LGW along with NHL gamecenter live on PS3. It saves money and through one router six people run there lives...Pretty sweet.

And the moderator can merge them all into one. Big deal. It's not worth getting worked up about. Line threads are cool. I like to think about combos too.

    NHL Marketing

No, marketing isn't just about spending money, but in order to get your product out there, you have to spend it. Now, you say that the NHL should offer channels like ESPN the opportunity to air hockey games in the NBA's absence due to the lock-out. Channels need contracts with that specific sport to air that sport's content. ESPN can't just up and decide to air hockey games without a contract with the NHL for those games. ESPN won't enter into a contract unless they're going to get the money they spent on it back. If they thought there was money to be made in airing hockey games, they'd be airing them already. Same goes with TBS. NBC has a contract with the NHL, but it doesn't start until after January, IIRC. The point is, marketing is useless if there's no demand for the product. You could say that marketing will create the demand, but this is sort of like the chicken and the egg scenario. For fans, we see it as "marketing will create the demand", a "if you build it, they will come" kind of thing. For the league, it's a "demand will necessitate the marketing", a "we'll build it if they come" kind of thing. The league has more to lose than we do, so they're the ones assuming the risk. If they spend the money, even a small pithy amount, and get no ROI on it, they'll be less likely to do so in the future. /marketing major //is it obvious ///sorry to bore people

    Season-Long Lines Thread

leftwinger, you're giving crymson a run for his money in being my least favorite poster on the board. 1) Nyquist IS an excellent passer/set-up man. You clearly haven't seen him play. You were clearly just talking out of your rear. Just admit it and move on. You're only digging yourself deeper. 2) "he will always be the one sent down before the three above mentioned players." I take it you must've missed Babcock's interview, along with the pre-season. Babcock himself said that Nyquist will indeed be called up if he continues to play well in GR. 3) For the THIRD - and hopefully last - time, I didn't say Smith SHOULD be called up, I said I'd like to see him called up, and I laid out very specific circumstances under which such action would be appropriate. agreed. but i don't get this being EITHER a "play-maker" or a "scorer" business. Datsyuk is both. Nyquist is both. well, we're gonna lose one when mursak comes back, and we're gonna lost another if we call up nyquist or make a trade-deadline acquisition. what we should do is cut homer loose...like we should've cut lilja, maltby and draper loose to keep quincey, kopecky and leino. but that will never happen, will it?

Why didn't they claim him the first time, then?

Yes to the Southeast if it gets our "foot in the door" of the eastern conference... BUT I still say the best would be Detroit and Columbus move East and have a 14 and 16 team conference. Seems to work fine for MLB. Just like MLB the East could have three divisions with 5, 6, 5 teams and the West would have 5, 5, 4. Wales Conference: Atlantic Patrick: PIT - PHL - Rags - NJD - Iles Northeast Howe: Detroit - TOR - MTL - BUF - OTT - BOS Southeast Adams: CBJ - WAS - TPA - CAR - FLA Campbell Conference: Central Norris: NAS - CHI - STL - MIN - DAL Northwest Smythe: VAN - CGY - EDM - WIN Pacific Hull: ANA - LAK - SAN - COL - PHX ...I also like renaming the conferences back to the Wales/Campbell, it just sounds better... this would put 4 of the original six in one division and move Columbus (which is in the Eastern time zone and more southeast than Detroit) into the Southeast division. Ideally they rename the division to honor NHL history as well, bring back the Norris, Adams, Smythe, Patrick then have two more, maybe Howe and Hull? Edit: To change the names of the Division's

    Datsyuk #24? lol

Their people are too lazy to figure out that he only had that number for pre-season.

    NHL Marketing

The NHL is never going to have the same kind of audience or marketing presence as the other three major sports in this country. That ship has sailed. I don't see the point in getting aggravated over it.

First off ummm Southeast Division???????????? Unless I'm reading a Map wrong Detroit is NORTH????? Secondly exactly why do we want the Wings to move East?? Yes it would probably mean more Eastern Conference teams for the Wings to play and for us fans to see but aren't the Wings doing fine in the West?? I mean Numerous Divisional Championship, 5 Conference (Playoff) Championships, Not sure how many President's Trophy Championships since being in the West and 4 Stanley Cup Championships?? What is the big incentive for the Wings to move East and why do so many Wings fans want to move east?? I'm just wondering, not trying to start anything but I guess I just need to be educated.

How Do You Feel About The Southeast?

As much as I want to see the Wings move East, if all the NHL is going to do is slide a team into the SE, it really makes more sense to move Nashville or Dallas.
  16. 1 point
Blah I hope not. Just switch Nashville to the Southeast. Winnipeg to the Northwest and move Minnesota to the Central. Problem solved.

Just doesn't make sense, but a lot in this league doesn't

    Ten Years

Every cup is obviously great and we as wing fans of the last 2 decades are very, very fortunate to be involved in such greatness. Being an hour from Toronto EVERYONE is a leafs fan (or habs fans but they don't even count) and these people havent seen there team even in the running for the last 7 years or so, and in the last 10 we've all as fans been involved in 4. Truely a unique team and I look forward to number 5th in here soon;) .....Oh yeah 1997 and 2008 are tied for my favorite, 97 for obvious reasons and 08 because our boys who we drafted and saw grow as players lead the way to the cup just a little while after Yzerman retired leaving people wondering about our future. That one was sweet!

Considering we had at any one time, 6 HOF'ers on the ice, winning the Stanley Cup that season was a foregone conclusion. It was pretty anti-climactic, really. Not that it wasn't exciting, it's always exciting to win, just that it didn't have the same feeling that '97 did.

Man, I never realized there were that many neuro-surgeons and psychologists in here. That's absolutely amazing! Opinions and assholes, and the other way around. Are you really filled with that much belief in yourselves, that you think your uneducated guess bears any weight? Really? Not one of us knows what caused what effect, or if the effect is the cause, so maybe we should stop with the wild guessing-games? Sometime we might have a clear-cut answer as to what led to these untimely deaths, but it sure as hell won't spring from a thread on a message board. Really, you and I know nothing of what the cause is. So what's the argument? It's all guesses, from people with little to no insight. It's dumb. None of us KNOW s*** about it. Leave it to those who actually know what to look for, and know how to interpret the facts. You know, doctors, professors, etc. You know, the people with all of the tools none of us have... You know, EXPERTS. With Machines and s***! Sweet Jesus on his Tyranosaurus. You know nothing. As do I. Calm down. At least stop arguing a point for which you have NO proof.

    Bouchard suspended 2 games

Is there going to be some prize given at the end of the season to the dozen or so guys that don't get suspended this year? This should have been a double minor, but not a suspension.

Franzen dives just as much, do you hate him as well? Have you ever cheered for Franzen? I hate Crosby as well, not for his on ice actions, but mostly because he looks like a smug little turd and has been forced down our throats. But to say he's playing up a concussion is just crazy talk. You don't sit out of games by your own choosing, no one would. Not even when Claude knew he was going to get his ass beat by DMac did he want to sit out. Even the biggest ***** in the NHL a decade ago wouldn't sit out of games due to headaches, he'd want to get in there and help his team.
