Didn't you start this thread to be "realist" and discuss what might actually happen rather than what we want to see happen in our own personal dream world. For some reason I thought the title of the thread suggested something like that. Because the realist implication seems to suggest that we wouldn't start five rookies next season, sign three high profile free agents, ask our current captain and heart and soul to accept half the money he's making now, and cut ties with a class act locker room guy and another guy we just signed to a 2 year extension based on the quality of his play, a guy we traded a first round pick for, and another guy coming off a career year. That is, of course, unless you think that's realistic and you didn't start this thread to satisfy your own need to play imaginary GM on capgeek.com. Anyway...back to sleep.

http://predators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=630266 Wow. Good on ya, Poile. Radulov is a selfish bastard (as I've said before, he's already said he's back to Russia after this postseason) and Kostitsyn is apparently a locker room cancer according to the Habs fans.

Now if we can get that little CBA thing worked out...

    Babcock still hates this.

It's not against team rules (or any for that matter)

I just heard from a Boston pal that there is talk down there of the Bruins possibly moving Lucic, don't know how much truth to it? BUT... Abdelkader + Franzen? Well, I can dream, can't I. I don't expect many changes. I'm sure Holland STILL likes the team that he has. Do you think someone has told him that Detroit has been eliminated, because I'm not even sure he watches the games.

But it's ok to ram an opposing player's face into the glass.

Poile knew what he was getting when he acquired these guys. So it's no surprise really. I applaud Poile and Trotz for 'doing the right thing' but is this more about sending a message to the rest of the team to wake the F up? I guess this way Poile and Trotz cover their asses. They win and the media makes them out ot be heroes. They lose and it's all the 2 selfish Russians fault. Either way it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    Kuznetsov Chooses Russia

Keep it up and make other teams afraid to bring in Russians so that we keep getting players like Marchenko.

I still remember that night that the French-Canadian media were saying was going to be one of the darkest days in the NHL's history and it turned out to be next to nothing.

They should both go back to Russia. If you make millions (almost for Radulov) then be professional and follow team rules. they should both be fined by the team too. Radulov is garbage and should never have been allowed to come back to the NHL the way he did. The league needs to address that, and the bulls*** that they most likely got into.

I would imagine being lazy and sucking IS against team rules.

Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

He wasn't himself after having knee surgery. I don't think there was any lack of effort. To see what a healthy Datsyuk looks like in the playoffs, see 2011 when he almost won 2 playoff series on his own.

Jarnkrok needs NHL size/strength. The skill's never been in question. Nyquist needs NHL size too, but I'm sure the Wings have already made the weight-room requirements clear Jurco, Plukkinen, Jarnkrok, Nyquist and Tvrdon all have top end upside in terms of talent. Any of them could be Z/Dats players if the Wings are lucky. Datsyuk's sublime skill really started to shine once he had the NHL strength to harness it. If any of those five can follow the same trajectory as Datsyuk did between their age and his late twenties we're golden. Obvious troll is obvious.

Not to derail the thread, but the over-ripen strategy is something that I believe we will begin to see less of as the seasons go on. The main reason we had the luxury of leaving prospects in the minors for so long was because we could go out and have our pick of the litter free agent wise. Although we have a lot of money this summer, once the new CBA goes into effect (knock on wood), I do not see how we can continue to prolong the strategy of waiting until 24/25 years of age for our prospects to finally have more than a cup of coffee in the show. Anyone else thinking this could be correct? Opinions to the contrary welcomed, as always. Just sort of thinking aloud.

    Is Rinne Getting Exposed?

I think we are getting exposed more than Nashville at this point.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Ill be disappointed if Homer is back to be honest. Id rather take the younger guy with more grit and speed then just have a very slow 4th line pp specialist.

Detroit has inside track on Parise

The media seems to have blown this whole Parise / Suter to Detroit combo way out of proportion. I have a feeling we'll see either player go to other teams for an over inflated price. We're not building internally. If Nyquist is our top forward prospect... we are more than doomed. With the spike in physical play, small forwards are getting worn out and becoming less effective. Professional hockey is drastically losing skill and sportsmanship. So, why not follow suit? This is a business. The fans want to see heart, blood, and sweat...Give 'em what they want. Where's the meat and potatoes?

Holmstrom should be gone. We need 3 additional impact players to make a difference and bringing back players that are old and busted is not worth the money we pay to watch this team play. Lidstrom is the only UFA player I would bring back and it should be a discounted price since he is 42 years old and much more prone to injury. The wings are loyal and I can appreciate that but there has to be a time where you have to let guys go. It's like having a new car that is great when you first get it and gives you years of service but if it keeps breaking down then it's time for a new car. Holmstrom is like an old car that you love even though it leaks oil and starts only half the time.

Mike, thanks again for always doing an awesome GDT. Doesn't go unnoticed all year. Got some single seats with my friends for today's game. Excited just to be there. Hoping for an awesome atmosphere. Jimmy comes up big, Shea gets booed like hell, Pavel and Hank amaze us again. Dingers - 5 Preds - Not enough. Let's go Wings. Let's go boys.

I'd love to see us control a game, with out a doubt of whose going to win. Luckily, we don't have to with Jimmeh in net. 4-3, Z, Bert, Cleary, and Mr. Norris with the goals. Go Wings!
