Even if that is true, they still need 18 more teams to overrule him. Because of how Bettman got the rules changed after he as overruled in '95, there's practically no chance of the owners seizing control from him. He only needs to keep 8 happy.

Boyle should have kept his mouth shut. Even if he was privy to some inside information (Which he probably isnt) does he honestly beleive there arent players out there who just want to play and arent in favor of asking for the moon? I am willing to bet my life savings (Granted it isnt much) that there is a MUCH higher percentage of players who just want to play then there are owners who do. This is why the players will cave first and revenue will probably end up being split some where close to 50 -50. Like every other sports league. The best thing the owners have done is not say anything. Every single time a player opens his mouth in the press it ends up sounding selfish, immature and just plain stupid.

Did any proposal from either side include changes to how contract cap number is calculated? Using actual salary for a particular year as a cap number would prevent (most of) the current cap circumvention schemes.

The British players are considerably below the ECHL level but certainly all the players I can think of from NA are all ECHL standard with some having decent AHL experience. Drew should tear it up.

Our money? Once you buy that jersey or pay for a ticket that money is no longer yours..it is the owners ..when you buy a chocolate bar is it your concern what the guy who owns the 7-11 does or how he spends the money? Also this fallacy that Bettman is responsible for the lockout is so stupid..he answers to the owners for the 100th time..they tell him they aren't happy and want to lockout the players and it's his job as head of the league and rep of the owners to break the bad news and get the blood on his hands. I don't like the guy for a lot of the things he has done but this is solely on the owners and players and how they want to deal with it.

No one can sit here and defend Bettman. Bettman is ruining hockey in many respects. His job is to RUN THE LEAGUE. Since he took charge of the NHL, there have been 3 lockouts, one of which lasted an ENTIRE SEASON- - and this one does not look too promising. Simply put, allowing 3 lockouts is not doing his job. He is a terrible negotiator, and is running the league into the ground. On another note, the ONLY reason he still has the job is that he has pleased all of the poor ass teams that can't afford to run their own franchises. But if the league is locked out all year, these poor ass franchises will not ever be able to recover, and I think that will spell the end of Bettman finally.

Anybody that defends Bettman is a fool. Bettman is not responsible for the growth, in fact he has hindered it. Hockey has grown in popularity in the States because more kids became exposed to it because of international success the Americans have since the Miracle on Ice, something they have never had before. Bettman is the worst thing to ever happen to the game of hockey

I think a presentation about the last 20 something years of the Wings would be interesting, mentioning how they managed to recover from the "Dead Wings" era with the leadership of Yzerman, the Stanley Cups, the playoff streak, the Russian Five, the Konstantinov-incident, the rivalry and brawls with the Colorado Avalanche, the back to back finals with the Penguins, lots of interesting stuff to choose from.

All you need to write on the paper is Pavel Datsyuk. Period. I don't see how you can't get an A+ for that.
