If someone beat up Franzen, would anyone here be upset?

One calendar year without scoring. An entire 365 day period without scoring a single goal while making $7 million per year. And thats without any major injury or lockout, and with several games being a healthy scratch.

Parise worth every penny. Suter on the other hand so far has not been good. Not a disaster but so far nothing to pay $100M for.

I thought they played extremely well, but when you play back to back like this the other team will always have the advantage in the third. Pucks just did not want to go in. They will start though.

We were not out-goaltended....we sucked. If anything Dallas was out goaltended, if it weren't for Jimmy they would have scored 6 or 17...

how are none of Jimmy's amazing saves getting our guys fired up? that was a ridiculous save, and they still seem to be sleepwalking....

Jimmy Howard has a message for all his haters tonight... That message is... STFU!

Ken and Mickey mentioned during the 1st period of tonight's game that Babs wanted to play Tootoo more than he did, but penalties altered the plan. So there ya go.

my first impressions of kent huskins: i love him so far, real stay at home defensemen. he's playing it real safe, and at this time, that's what we need. we won't even let someone be the last man back, he'll rotate back around them if they try breaking out. i like him.

Jimmy is NOT a sieve. Great hit by Tootoo! Most of the goals against he was hung out to dry.

    Emdog or Cleary?

Neither should be on the main roster.

Each and every game so far. Yes, they are terribly rusty/out of sync, but everyone is already calling for every player's head to roll. It's a short season, but we're only 1-2 (if we don't win tonight). Is there a reason to worry? Not yet. And yes, I realize it's a shortened season, but you have to give them a handful of games to hopefully start to gel.

Maybe she's voicing her displeasure with the NHL lockout, and with Holland's offseason ineptitude in general. You go girl!

PK held fast. Good job guys.

You make it sound as if Holland had no idea these defensemen were leaving until they were emptying their locker. I'm not saying it should all go without a hitch but look at our defensive corps. Holland had lead time on 2 of the 3. Anyone with half a brain could've figured there's a good chance Lids would retire around 40. And Holland even got to talk to him so I bet he had a pretty good guess as to when Lids would hang them up. Same with Stuart. That situation was known to all of us here. And it wouldn't surprise me if Rafalski gave him some indication as well. Holland should've been considering the defense in a post Lidstrom era years ago. It just reinforces my belief that Holland is a good tinkerer and has succeeded by making tweaks to the team and system he inherited, but as the quality of his replacements continued dropping the system has become less and less effective. Yet there doesn't seem to be any new system or thinking with the type of players he brings in. It just felt like more patchwork to the same old system in spite of so many lesser replacement parts.

Little Neddy Nederlander? So I guess that Amigo gig isn't cutting it anymore... Here is the phone call: Garth Snow: You want what? You aren't famous enough yet to call your own shots... Agent: No, he is infamous! Snow: In-Famous? What are you talking about? Neddy: You see Garth, I am In-famous its when you're MORE than famous. Yes, I am El Nino, I am not just famous, I am IN-famous! Trade me!

So, there are no excuses. Ken Holland was expected to just pull a rabbit out of a hat, pull a gun on agents, or pull a gun on GMs and force them to come to Detroit. Good to know. IMHO, Ken Holland has done everything in his power to bring in a great team and great players. I really don't know what you expect, other than for him to blackmail players to come to Detroit or to literally trade scraps to GMs for top talent.

    Everyone chill out!

Been a Wings fan since the early 1980's and a season ticket holder until the 2005 lockout. If you've been a Wings fan for that long or longer, you'll remember some of the things that used to be said about this team...Like Steve Yzerman isn't a good leader and can't produce in the playoffs...After losing his first few years here, that Scotty Bowman was too old and the game had passed him by(Remember when he had a trade lined up to send Stevie Y to Ottawa?)...That no way could the Wings win with a bunch of Russians...We'll never win with that play off slacker Fedorov...We'll never win with all those "old" guys...we're too old and too slow...We need a big tough defenseman...We need a power forward...we need a star goaltender...We'll never win with Vernon...never, ever with Osgood...The Wings are too soft...too many Swedes...we should trade all our old baggage for good young players and cleary the management is stupid if they don't...After 98, we're surely in rebuilding mode and we'll never win again...after 2002, well surely that was it...Too old and surely we'll never win with out Yzerman... So after 20+ years of playoffs, conference semi finals, WCF, Stanley Cup Finals and 4 Stanley Cup Championships, watching Hall of Famers in their primes... forgive me if I tend to give the Wings management the benefit of the doubt...There isn't any GM in any sport who's made the right decision on everything...never happened, never will... Of course everyone is a masterful GM when they're sitting behind a keyboard and can make up all sorts of fantasy scenerios in their heads and not have to live in reality...
