Not sure if this has been posted yet but here's Tootoo's first fight. I hadn't seen it because I only caught the third period. What's with the refs jumping in so fast?? And his second fight. So far he's squaring up when he fights, bringing energy, hitting guys, no cheap stuff... I'm coming around on Tootoo.

2 more dust ups tonight in the first 20 mins.. I think the 22 haters might be thawing a bit.

Sure wish that I went to THIS Dallas/Detroit game instead of last week's.

I like the signing so far. Reminds me of McCarty. Hits, grinds, generates some movement in the opposing end, and takes hard shots when he gets them. He's going to be important later in a playoff race.

I am coming around a bit as well. It has been tough the last 5-6 years, as some of the players that I hated most have joined the team (Bertuzzi, Drake, Tootoo). The biggest thing that has impressed me is when he pulls up on dangerous hits. Like tonight - he could have had a very dirty, from behind hit on the defenseman. Instead of ending the guy's career he pulled up and skated right past him to stay in the play. Love the energy- and I am even more glad the man is more than a mindless, headhunting, cheapshotting douchnozzle. If he keeps this up during the remainder of his contract years, he will be more effective than some of our previous spark plugs. As long as the Wings dont sign Jarkko Ruutuu or Matt Cooke I will be okay.

Great game. Datsyuks a magician, Brunner's the real deal, and fighting = wins. Beat the Blues on Friday!

He's struggling at getting pucks through screens on the powerplay. Lidstrom was a master at that. Not having that has really hurt this powerplay.

You know who has had a good game? Quincey! Go figure.

Tootoo needs to fight twice a game. Every game.

There isn't a reason Quincey shouldn't work out. He's played very well elsewhere. You aren't just going to let go the defenseman you spent a 1st round pick on after like 30 games. Especially when you're a team in need of defenseman. Now obviously the move hasn't worked out, but it's still early in Quincey's career, wing's have invested too much, and need him to play to his potential.

I skimmed considering the source, and as soon as I saw "Datsyuk" and "Trade Bait" together in the same sentence I loled in displeasure and decided to stop reading. This, as many posted a lot lately, I put under the category of "NHL 13 Scenario" because something this dramatic occurring in the real NHL is an impossibility. And let's cut the "Buyout Franzen" nonsense that's not happening either.

I hated him in Nashville. After about ten minutes of processing the signing I loved it and knew he would be a fan favorite. Aside from dropping the gloves, the dude straight hustles and gives his all every single shift. He brings a lot of energy and gets the crowd into it. More than anything, the dude was estatic about being a Wing from day one. It says a lot coming from a team who has had little brother syndrome throughout their whole existence.

The NBA/basketball suck and should not be compared in any way to Hockey.

How interesting, you can say that you're ok with something and then six months later say that you've been against it all along. Neat trick. Does that work on people usually or no?

Agree with you about Helmer, of course. Disagree with you about Bertuzzi. Totally. Bert is a smart forechecker, gives a lot of effort to get that big slow(ish) body back on the backchecks, has great stick work, can see plays before they develop which allows him to get into passing lanes, can lay the body and play the body, and can shut down. Even Babs has talked about how Berts defensive game is truely great, having totally morphed since coming to Detroit. Not to mention that with his years of experince in the league, he's seen a lot of everyone in the league and knows everyone's strenghts and weaknesses and tendencies. It's a Brunner thread, so I'm going to refrain from getting into how underrated and under valued Bert is by so many o LGW.
