I'm holding out hope that Brendan Smith will be able to fill Rafalski's shoes in a couple years, after the rookie mistakes leave his system. He saw the ice so well last year during his brief stint. There's no way those games were all an accident.

I'd rather watch the kids screw up and make rookie mistakes and learn from them than watch some of our vets make rookie mistakes and often get rewarded with more playing time. I'm a lot easier on the kids watching their potential on the ice.

Can you imagine how bad this team would be without Datsyuk?

What a circus. NHL officials are the best.

Kindl has been in many ways our best Dman all year. he has played well. Kronwall has played better offensively, but worse defensively. Ericsson better defensively, but not as good offensively. Those have been our top 3 all year. Smith has made a bunch oif mistakes, but you expect that from a rookie. lashoff has been very good defensively, but is not a threat with the puck. I am looking forward to dekeyser a lot.

The Avs play-by-play guy is one of the worst I've listened to.

We lost him, Stuart and Lidstrom in only a few years. Since you can't replace those players, it's only natural we'd miss them. The reason we suck at puck possession now is because those guys aren't here to start the rush. The powerplay is also important, but secondary to playing the system overall. You can't play this system with such a crappy defensive core with untalented players.

Since there's Valentines Day and then steak and blow jobs day the next month I was thinking why not make a day just for wings fans to post their own edited videos. By no stretch are we expecting Steven Spielberg type of video. Just post your encouraging videos to get us out of this slump. I believe in science so positive energy will be felt and probably push the wings to play better. Hey if not atleast we're smiling right??!

The first thought that went through my head when I read the topic title was "What an ungrateful ******* ***** ** ****." First, the money that was earmarked for certain players was never necessary; second, there were no viable back up plans; third, the cap was expected to shrink. Spending up to the cap at that point would have put us in a bad salary dump position; why sign some players only to have to buy them or others out? Just because the Wings are going through a few speed bumps is no reason to turn on the man who lost millions of his own money for YEARS to keep this team here; spent millions of his own dollars to sign the best talent available and has given back more to his players and this town than any other NHL owner. I think you owe Mr. I an abject apology.

Kindl has been "garbage" the past 2 games. Other than that he's actually transformed into a good Dman for the Wings. The main problems on our blue line are the odd rookie mistake, but we're in a transition so those are excusable, and guys like White, Coliacovo and Quincey being "garbage".

I agree on Cleary. We all trashed him because he can't handle top line minutes, but he's still a good checker or fourth liner. Bertuzzi isn't a waste of cap space. Right now, because he's injured he might be, but nobody but Datsyuk has hands like Bertuzzi up close to the net. He's not 100% all the time, we need his reach, his hands and his every-3rd-game-or-so-offense. Bertuzzi is like Holmstrom. He has a very specific role on this team. He's not necessarily a 1st liner, but he belongs on a 1st line with Datsyuk. He is what Babcock is trying to make Cleary and Abdelkader into.
