I hope you really don't think that a big hit or a big fight doesn't spark a team or really have an effect. Besides if you are correct and all it does is get the crowd fired up...do you not agree that even having a crowd behind you all fired up helps a team? Or is it all these years when they rank hardest barns to play at just fluff and it means nothing?

The enforcer knocks all of Andrew Shaw's teeth out when he starts to take liberties against our top 6 guys that swing momentum when the refs dont call penalties. We are fooling ourselves thinking we dont need a 6'3" 235 lb guy who can play 8 mins a night and break a jaw when necessary.

Truthfully I'm not worried. Alfie is a warrior and I can't ever recall him starting out the season slowly. It's just my opinion but Alfie is the icing on the cake not the straw that will stir the Wings drink. If he's tweaked his groin they will let him rest and work out-he always comes to camp in great shape- no need to work him like a rented mule. I'll bet #11 is reveling in not having to be the answer every night for the team and because of that look out! Go Alfie!

Weiss will be fine. It's pre season, no need for a meltdown yet.

I don't know that anyone would've prevented it, but it was sad when a 38 year old with a bad back is the one to drop the gloves with Weber next time the teams played. Good on Bert but doing it, but jeez. Bert fighting SOB twice in the same game is a good example of how sticking up for yourself can change the tone of the game. They were running guys all game until that point.

While scott was out of line in challenging/threatening kessel or whatever, there is no defending a two handed slash (let alone multiple slashes).... kessel acted out of pure frustration with full intent to hurt another player. I don't care who the other player is, that makes kessel just as much of a goon as anyone.

Again if it were Crosby you would be all for the beat down he had coming Harold and you know it. Kessel had no right after Scott was engaged to keep slashing period.

You guys have lost it. Neither Dats or Z would of started it like Kessel did so that is a non factor. Kessel wants to run his mouth and do what he did without having anything kind of repercussions? Come on you guys if Crosby was doing this you all would be calling for his head and he is one of the greatest skilled players in the game now and is no where near a fighter. I think Kessel did a pretty pricky move by slashing scott about 10 times while scott was engaged with someone else. Again if it were Crosby I think things would be a bit different in this thread.

This. & with more potential imo. I like Brunner and all but I'd rather have Tatar in the lineup.

I would much rather have Nyquist Tatar and Brunner then cleary Alfie and Sammy...
