    October Schedule Wallpaper Now Available!

1920x1200 | 1920x1080 | 1680x1050 | 1600x900 | 1440x900 | 1366x768 | 1280x800 iPad/iPad2: 1024x1024 iPad3: 2048x2048 I'm currently working through the iOS7 updates for the wallpaper since it has a dynamic "shift" to the background. The iPad wallpapers are optimized for iOS7 -- so you're all good there, but I don't currently have a version for the iPhone5/S/C at this stage. I've also discontinued the 4:3 ratio wallpapers. However, if there is significant enough response for certain 4:3 resolutions I will consider bringing them back. Enjoy!

For a nano second a Danish player led the league in scoring. Allow me to be excited as that happens once in a billion years.

    Parros Concussed

Some of you may not know it, but Parros is by far one of the smarter goons. Played for Princeton for a reason. Always loved him and his personality/mustache (which he uses to promote his charities). Hope he's ok, that was a weird spill fersure.

    10/2 GDT : Sabres 1 at Red Wings 2

I'm ok with Cleary and Bert in the lineup. But Sammy...

Holland should get most of the frustration directed at him for putting the main whipping boys on the team. Namely, Samuelsson, Cleary and Bertuzzi. You could throw Quincey in as well because he has been terrible for the price it took to acquire and retain him.

I don't expect it will ever be Cleary vs Tatar. We probably differ in this view but Cleary can still contribute to this team in a way that makes him a viable top 9 option, so when Tatar does crack the lineup, it won't be to replace Cleary. Bertuzzi and Sammuelson on the other hand, haven't played for over a year (excluding the 8 minutes they were healthy last season). They are likely getting a courtesy shot in the first week or so to earn their contracts, but I expect Tatar will end up replacing one of the two of them in the lineup.

Who will be LGW's whipping boy this season?

Samuelsson won't play enough to become a whipping boy. I'm saying Smith, though I hope he'll improve.

lol yea they missed that Euro Twins but what do you expect? same thing different year eddie o and doc sucking the **** out of blackhawks and well of course Pits but not as much anymore with Towes and Kane the new Crosby and Malkin

Well that's that, Chicago is gonna win the cup right after ovie was blatantly tripped entering the zone and was called off sides Yup, front page covered with the hawks... about how they picked up right where they left off, apparently struggling to win, with a sub-par goaltender who is paid way too much (or will be)

... what kind of scam are they running? Maybe Kenny was worried Babs would give Ouellet a shot

Many of those players were in Detroit before Holland arrived. I'm not saying he never dressed tougher players. I'm saying he's done it less than any other GM I can think of. True, we've had lots of success in the past, but the last few years, this team hasn't been anything special, and no longer has a great 3rd/4th line, where you can't afford to take players off for tougher guys. GM's around the league are drafting guys who can fight and contribute on the scoreboard, but Holland hasn't exactly been developing guys like Lucic, Kassian, Clowe or Clarkson in the system. So no one can argue that we have less tough guys than any team over the years. One also can't ignore that most GM's in the league still believe in having tough guys of some sort on the roster. The league has changed, but that part of the game still exists.

The roster decisions teams make support my argument. Most teams still have at least one enforcer or some type of tough guy (say a Prust type). Sure fighting has gone down since the 80's and 90's, and yes I like those eras better, but that isn't stopping teams from still having these players around. When fights go down to .10 per game, then I might rethink my argument and agree that I'm clamoring for an era that's gone by. As it stands, fighting and toughness is still part of the North American game, and Holland is in the minority with his philosophy on this issue.

Well naturally there will be a correlation between scoring and winning... But if we look at powerplay as arguably being the best enforcer you will find that the stanley cup winner from the last three years are all in the bottom half of the pp% stats by a fair margin, while at the same time being in the top half of PIM/GP. Not for being goons, but rather being teams with a strong physical presence. I guess the world is a pretty whimsy place...

all i got out of that was...."we are scared to death that now we have finally reached the top of the east...the wings are going to knock us down a few notches" "thanks west for sending your best" detroit chicago stanley cup....now no one in the east gets the "token" invite.
