    Splitting up Hank and Pavs

I don't understand and I simply never WILL understand why Franzen is the only guy on this team that never seems to be held accountable. Babs will demote guys like Weiss, Hudler, Flip, Brunner, Alfredsson and other talented players to the 3rd line when they are not showing up. I can think of twice that Franzenfloat has been demoted in the last 5 years. It appears that Babock thinks Mule is one shift away from that magical 2008 run. Let it go man.....He's lazy, inconsistent, erratic and uninspired. I for one am getting a bit tired of watching the guy stroll around out there like he's out for a Sunday walk and not being called on his sh@t.

For sure. I was at that game....nice waste of 6th row seats! LolAnyway, they have to do something because everyone is flat. I have serious doubts about Mule and Tatar together.....they both aren't really strong defensively so that line could either be lethal in a good way or in a horrible way. Bert has always played well with Pavel...but Pavs makes everyone better. The 4th line is solid. The third line is like an online dating site -- random people lumped together who probably don't compliment each other, have no mojo and at the end of the night, nobody is gonna score

    What's Killing Our Offense?

You do know we developed Datsyuk and z right? Also Tatar does drive the net, and he is gritty. Him and goose are very different

    Missing Homer

Of course we're missing Homer. A goalie can't make a save he can't see. These goalies see everything we shoot at them. Besides most players don't have the balls Homer had to take the abuse. He was very smart. He found a niche for himself many players don't discover themselves and he has 4 Stanley Cup rings to prove it. I miss him

Is this a joke? When he didn't play with Zetterberg he was a ghost out there.

No, I think you forgot how often Fil gave up... He was often one of the few Wings to show up almost every night.

    Missing Homer

And we're missing the best defenseman of a generation like Lidstrom, and we're missing a power forward like Shanahan, and we're missing a big tough defenseman like Konstantinov, and we're missing a point man on the PP like Rafalski and we're missing PK's like Draper and Maltby, and we're missing a sniper like Hull and we're missing a tough guy with offensive skills like McCarty and we miss the playmaking skills of Larionov and on and on and on. With the possible exception of Datsyuk and Zetterberg, who from the past wouldn't you rather have than anyone on the current team?

I don't mind them splitting up for the time being, but I would prefer Zetterberg stay on the wing...since...you know...he's the only winger that seems to be capable of scoring goals.

It's not about moving on, it's about what this team is missing and that type of player...HOMER!

    What's Killing Our Offense?

It's a good start, but I am baffled as to why Dan Cleary is still in the lineup at all. Sad as it is to say, even Samuelsson would be better.

This is what is concerning to me, if we keep that pace we will be in the bottom in a matter of games.

Come to think of it, it wasn't so bad having half of our goals waived off when there were three times more going in the net in the first place.

Fixed that for ya. Drafting good is fine. But if when said prospect is ready for the NHL you have to hope your coach and GM will give them there shot instead of re-signing old washed up players to take there spot on the roster. Perfect example is Nyquist and Tatar right now. Right now I have no confidence Babs or Holland will play the young hungry kids when they are ready. Instead we will get more Cleary and Samuelssons.

Maybe we aren't giving some of our higher end talent any chances to prove themselves. Instead we have Cleary and Samuelson showing why exactly they shouldn't have been signed.

    What's Killing Our Offense?

Bad line combinations, underperforming players, useless black-hole plugs like Dan Cleary.

During last night's telecast, Mickey stated that because Weiss is coming off injuries and because he's coming from a team with relatively no system, he believes Weiss won't begin to hit his stride until about the 20 game mark. Because Mickey has played professional hockey and therefore knows how hard it is to go from team to team, system to system, and bounce back from injury, I'm going to go with his assessment. That said, Weiss hasn't lived up to expectations. Which is hard for me to say because I lobbied hard for the guy in the offseason and was thrilled when he was signed.

Coming off a major surgery, and from a team that has never played with structure, I'm willing to give him a bit more time because I harp on him. Got us a W in Carolina early, and now is in a bit of a funk. If he's still struggling by Christmas we may be in trouble, still a bit early.

Alfredsson retires after this season, and Holland buys out Franzen. Keeps Tatar and Nyquist up full time and with the money that went to Franzen and Alfredsson this year, he offers Vanek. Jurco is our call up next year.
