    NHL may rethink Sochi

Are there IKEAs in Russia? From the looks of those rooms, they won't stand a chance against Team USA.

St. Louis deserves it, and it'll probably be his last chance at the olympics.

    Miller vs. Eaves

People act like Miller is the second coming of Kirk Maltby or Mike Keane. Penalty killing my ass. Eaves can do all the things he can, but he's right handed and has an occasional shot.

    So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

Two Toms and a Tink. The Future Line. The Fighting Slovaks. ("Fighting" for Sheahan's Notre Dame) The Graduated Griff Line. JST ice (pronounced justice). The Replacement Parts.

Just for a bit of fun I thought about the scenario that, what if the kids had started from the start of the season instead of the current 4 vets that are out of the lineup. Due to being injured, scratched or demoted. So without further ado here are the results of my findings, which can be classed in anyway you want to judge them. I have taken the current stats of Bert, Dan, Sammy and Stephen and compared their projected totals for 56 games against those of Gus,Riley and the 2 Tom's projected outputs. At their present scoring rate after 56 games the combined vets have a total of 37 points, 18+19 . This moment in time they have played a total of 148 games for 26 points with a -35 rating. Which would be -50 over the combined 224 games. Broken down, Bertuzzi 8+6 -20, Cleary 4+5 -12, Weiss 4+4 -9 and Samuelsson 2+4 -9. Not good eh? At the other end of the age scale we get a more happier outlook as fans. With the projected combined total of 126pts, 58+68. At present they have played a combined 111 games for 63 points with a +12 rating. This would be projected to be a +22 rating for the combined 224 games. The kids personal stats project as Nyqvist 24+18 +9, Tatar 16+13 +6, Sheahan 11+24 +7 and Jurco 7+13 even rating. This looks alot better overall for the team in general, i know these are hypothetical but which ever way you look at it all, the stats are more positive for the kids. I know most of the spotlight has fallen on Gus and Tats but i think Riley and Tomas have done outstanding with Riley surprising me the most. Jurco will become a top top player and the thought of him and Mantha on the same line could be a very dangerous line for years to come. Full steam ahead guys, and lets hope a couple of our D prospects can have the same sort of impact next year.

If Callahan is just a younger Tootoo, then realiscally, what are his odds of being on this team? I agree that this team needs an agitator like that, but Babs and Kenny have shown this year, they don't agree with us... A line of Tootoo - Glendening - Callahan would only happen if someone was traded/bought out and Jurco starts the season in GR. I happen to think that BOTH Glenny and Jurx will START in GR because they can without passing through waivers. ONLY so the Wings can see what they have here before being forced to move someone to make room for those two who both will be on the roster MOST of the season next year...

So unless you're unemployed, you won't be able to watch any of the games live (meaning SPOILERS)? Even the weekend games are at s**t times.

    Miller vs. Eaves

Let's also not forget that Eaves has a great attitude and work ethic and comes from a good hockey family. He's also got a lot more skill than many realize. If not for injuries and a wildly inconsistent role, I think he'd likely have more impressive offensive numbers at this point than he does. I hope we trim some of the mid-level fat this summer and keep Eaves with this team, and in a way that will allow him to have a consistent role if he's healthy. If he sticks around and stays healthy, I think he'll surprise a lot of people the next couple of years. But again, I don't say any of this to take away from Miller. I like Miller a lot at his price point and I'd absolutely be doing all I can to keep those guys Red Wings for the long haul. They're both really solid role players at great price points that stand to be important parts of this team for some time to come.

    NHL 14

I pretty much only play Club/OTP outside of the GM Connected league I run. My EASHL skater is RD, 94 goals 343 assists +117 in 507 games. Legend 3 card, I only play defense.

Trust me, I'm Canadian. I want him there. But if his bone isn't fully healed then there's no way he can go. Injuries aren't fair but that's life. Health trumps all. Speaking of fairness though...I don't think it'd be fair to a player like St Louis to bring Stamkos as 13/14 knowing you might possibly never play him.

I like how Weiss didn't use his injury as an excuse for his poor play. I almost expected him to lash out on Babcock when he was a regular 4th line center but he kept his mouth shut. I think the whole team knew he was playing with an injury then everyone realized he would need to have surgery because he wasn't cutting it

    Miller vs. Eaves

Well Miller still has a contract next year, so looks like we get him regardless. And Eaves is waiverable

    NHL may rethink Sochi

These are world class athletes. I'm not saying they need five star accommodations but clean water isn't a creature comfort. Agree to disagree but sub standard living conditions isn't something Olympic athletes should have to concern themselves with, they should worry about playing to the best of their ability... When's the last time you got a good night's sleep in the cold with no heat? I'd say its a strategy for russia to get an upper hand, but I haven't heard anything about the Russians bunking. And I'm completely fine with them having dorm type rooms, but dorms in this kind of disarray get shut down.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

Are they supposed to ? No, but seriously the pictures, water quality and below average standard and we are talking about the best players in the world here they aren't used to that kind of stuff. If a city can't even offer good quality on top of spending 50 million $ they shouldn't get the games period. The only thing players should have to worry is the competition and nothing else but in Sochi they have a lot of stuff to worry about: attacks, supbar quality of life, safety and water which isn't even drinkable...thats bad standards no matter how you look at it, pathetic.

Im sure the other 99.9% of the worlds 1+ billion Muslims might be offended with this title. A more responsible one might have been radicals or terrorist target Sochi. Eric Rudolph bombed the 96 Olympics but you wouldnt say Christians targeted Atlanta would you?
