Watching this game makes me like the changes they made to the Womens tournament even more. They put the top 4 teams in one pool and the bottom 4 in the other with all 4 of the top pool moving on to the next round with 2 getting byes and the other 2 facing the top 2 of the weaker pool. I'd love to see a round robin with any combination of Russia, USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden with less lopsided games vs the weaker teams in the tournament. This game is what Olympic hockey is all about.

They're not missing games to play in the Olympics. They're not getting any more money this season than any other season. The owners still get revenue from 41 home games and a full TV schedule, so they're not losing money. This year, the Wings play their last game April 13th. 2 years ago it was April 7th, the year before that it was April 10th. The 08-09 season ended April 12th. They're not extending the season more than a few days from what it ended the last 3 full non Olympic years.

I don't think Alfie came here to win a Cup. He packed up his family and moved to Detroit. He bought a house. He went all in on a long term life change to come here. He's not going to want to be traded. I think he just wanted to play for a solid team with good management where all the pressure isn't on him. I don't think he's retiring this year, either. He still wants to play but recognizes he's not the number one guy anymore. I don't think he wants to be a floating mercenary like Jagr and Iginla.

Sorry to break it to you, but Henrik Zetterberg doesn't "owe" you anything.

For those saying Datsyuk and Zetterberg should have opted to not participate in Olympics... Have you ever heard about the national pride? There are only few things in this modern world you can't buy and this is one of them.

I've been away from this board for a long time, just recently came back and I have one question? What the heck happened to the Red Wings fanbase? Buyout ZETTERBERG?! Are you serious? I hate to be mean but come on! Some of these comments and trade proposals are miserable.

I'm sure that other than his health and trying to carry Detroit into the playoffs, this is his biggest worry: gaining back your respect.
