Dear Mr Legwand Welcome to Detroit. I cant speak for all of us but I am very happy you waived your no trade to join the Red Wings. Some people here may not understand how much we need you. With four of our regular centers injured you have some big skates to fill. As a Veteran of many years you should be able to jump right in there. Maybe more so than some young high flying European. I think you will do very well here, your brand of hockey that you have played for 15 years should fit with exactly what we will need to do to win games to get us in the playoffs. It may not be pretty but I'm sure Mike Babcock has a plan to shut down the opposition rather than outgun them. You may not be the defence man we thought we were all going to get this trade deadline, but a 2 way speedy center in my mind is the closest and next best thing. Your defensive skills I'm sure will be relied on to keep the puck out of our net in the dying seconds of the game something we have watched our red wings have much trouble with this year. As much as Patty Eaves, and Jarnkrok will be missed, I would at least like to welcome you as a fan to a player of the Red Wings. Welcome aboard, Stay Healthy, have a fun run. Shoe

Class on display on Vancouver's Team 1040 all day. Every sports update throughout the day they mentioned Nick Lidstrom Night at the Joe tonite, they brought on guys like Ray Ferraro etc to talk about Lidstrom, ( Scotty Bowman had to reschedule for tomorrow) and every radio station give away today was to the 5th caller in honor of Nik. They are fans, they miss watching him play, and really appreciate what he brought to the game. Edit: Then they went back to roasting Gillis, Torts, and the Aquilinis!

If only the older vets were healthy this team would be deep. Z and D on one line, the kid line, a weiss/legwand line, and a helm line. That's a deep team. People always say he is slow, but to me he looks fast out there. Must be a camera trick

It's not that I have a problem with Legwand, he's a good player. I just don't like what we gave up, or the fact that he's not a defenseman.

That could be expected, because he is good. He could be a great threat if we were healthy and could have someone like him on the 2nd or 3rd line, depending on the setup. The deal just looks weak because we gave up our #1 center prospect/ many other teams managed to get higher returns for less. But that's not Legwands fault. From all i've seen or read about him, you can expect that man to fight every minute he's on the ice. Don't think there will be much to criticize about him..

This team could be so dangerous with this type of effort + a healthy roster.

Legwand looks good. Giguere is garbage nowadays, but of course he's having a strong start against us.

Although I'm young, I had the opportunity to see the Perfect Human play live in LA. It was truly an honor watching you play Lidstrom. You will be greatly missed. LGW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Win this one for Liddy. Is Legwand playing?
