It very much annoys me that Subban punches Nyquist when he's in the bench and NO ONE does anything about it.

Use the force Luke.. I will totally Jedi Glendening after this game if we come back here.

There are days when our defense looks way better than it should, and then there are days where they look like a box of factory reject dildos. I still just can't believe how many forwards we've added in the last few years considering how many quality defensemen we lost. It shouldn't be so easy for the D to be this useless. The defense absolutely needs to get stronger so they can stop having to rely on luck and can just start being good. Maybe someone on the team should call out Franzen...

Be more specific, they have a lot of them. At least the dildos are hard, our D is soft.

My prediction. Glendening gets his first goal in the third, the team rallies around it and the wings win 5-3

Im sorry guys but why are you saying we suck? This has been even, they capitalized we haven't, they got Some bounces we haven't. It happens. We cant score, and we also have out back up goalie in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Despite the score, I don't think they're playing all that badly. They've gotten several chances, not a lot of good bounces and Montreal has capitalized on every mistake.

Markov mauling Nyquist. Someone should give him a BC two hander.

Now Weiss is on drugs and faking an injury? What did I miss here? His wound has inflammation, it's not getting any better, so Holland probably said just to take the recovery slow, and heal up fully and come back with a fresh slate next season being %100 healthy. Too many tinfoil hats bouncing around here.

I wish we were breaking in Marchenko rather than enduring Kindl. I'd rather have a kid making rookie mistakes than Kindl just making mistakes that he has made time and again.

Wait, are you telling me we failed to convert on a crucial extended PP and then immediately surrendered a backbreaking goal? WHEN DOES THIS EVER HAPPEN

The refs have been a joke so far. I counted at least 4 habs penalties that were far worse then what the wings were called for that period... That's just pathetic. The best part is all habs powerplays came literally right after they should have been called for something. Aside from the poor officiating, the wings need to be better. They were a step behind most the period. I think pav would benefit from the speed and energy of Nyquist. I can't stand franzen playing with Nyquist. Nyquist- pav- Alfie is a great line. Either way, wings need to come out more engaged.

Did Don Cherry actually say "just stroke him off?"

Montreal game plan for tonight 1. Skate up to wings players 2. Fall down 3. Get power play 4. Wash, rinse, repeat

Getting on Glendening because he hasn't scored a goal is totally missing the point of him. It's almost like getting on Nyquist because he doesn't block enough shots. In a tight playoff series, how do we know a shot that Nyquist doesn't block won't end up being the difference? Glendening is a shutdown center. His duties lie 100% on the defensive side of the puck. Any offense he provides is essentially a bonus. He takes the vast majority of his faceoffs in the defensive zone. He's clutch on the PK. He checks and grinds and pushes, shoves, yaps, agitates. He frustrates the likes of Crosby and Stamkos. In a tight playoff series against a top-heavy team like the Pens, a Luke Glendening would, in theory, give our top three lines more room in the matchups battle. If Datsyuk doesn't have to shadow Crosby on every shift he takes, he's probably going to be more dangerous offensively. Maybe Helm can cheat up ice a little more. Throw in the last change at home and the fact that Babs is a matchup wizard, and that's potentially the difference in the series right there. But that's not even the big thing with him. The big thing with him is that he works hard, plays the right way, takes care of business, is zero-maintence, etc. He's a coach's dream and the kind of guy you love to have on your team. I don't think it's totally a coincidence that Babs says Glendening's line was our best against the Sabres and then, bam!, he gets extended. Our team has problems with keeping it simple, giving consistent effort, staying focused, sustaining intensity, being responsible defensively, avoiding complacency. Those things aren't an issue for Glendening, and that's a big deal - for the team as a whole. That was on full display last night. He can be a steadying presence. Things getting dicey? Crosby running amok? Key PK? Too much cuteness? Throw Glendening's line over the boards. He may not score, but 1) big deal, and 2) he's going to score eventually, and then we'll be complaining that he doesn't score enough. I mean, yeah, he's never scored in the NHL playoffs. That's true. But he's never actually played in the NHL playoffs. He's got, like, 50 games of NHL experience. And he's, what, like, 16 years old? Pretty sure this is the first season that fellow blockhand Darren Helm has shown the slightest bit of real scoring prowess. (That he's 27 probably has something to do with it.) I just think it's nitpicking, saying Kocur scored some playoff goals therefore Glendening is useless.

I still have hope for Weiss. Frustrating, but I'm not going to write him off entirely in an injury riddled season. If he comes back healthy in the fall, I still expect him to be a 50-60 point player for the Wings. No team is going to want him in a trade and there's no sense in buying him out -- nobody can really judge what type of player he might be the next four years based on 26 games. It will be interesting to see if the Red Wings opt to re-sign Legwand with their glut of centers.

Clarkson benefited from playing with 2 good guys on his line and in a system where the strategy was "bank it in off Clarkson." He should have stayed in that system even though they weren't going to pay him as much. Weiss is a good hockey player who is dealing with an injury that can linger long term anyway, and that is complicated by the fact that it's in an area where hockey players use more than just about any other athlete. It's no different than if a starting pitcher tears his rotator cuff or a running back tears an ACL.

I can't speak for everyone else but my fascination with him has a lot to do with the fact that he's a huge powerforward who's a stud defensively, chips in 20-25 goals and 50+ pts. a season, hits like a truck, plays hard every shift of every game, is a consummate leader, and doesn't seem overly douchey as a person. But that's just me.
