Favorite thing about this? First, I highly doubt he starts his NHL career with 3 seasons of 40+ goals. Second, he'd still be an RFA and have less leverage. Third, I don't believe any one player is worth that much, it makes it too hard to build a team with quality depth.

Brunner played all year with Datsyuk or Zetty. Nyquist was good all season with Zetty and when Pav and Hank were BOTH out, Nyquist raised his game even more and single handedly took our team to the playoffs. Nyquist displayed that he is not only a good player, but also a smart player, a hard worker, a team first kind of guy and most importantly, a good leader. No way do I ever see locking up any player at that cap hit a good idea unless he is the literal second coming of Wayne Gretzky and provides the offense of 3 top line players combined scoring over 200 points per season. Who knows what happens when players figure out how to defend against him better, and if he is selfish enough to command maximum contract he is likely the same class of player who will drop off in production after getting that contract. Look at the quality of player we get out of Datsyuk for the price, pay nearly double? No thanks.
