As a moderator here, I'm just glad the Wings didn't announce the re-signing of Quincey and Cleary on the same day.

Thanks for the update on the Jarnkrok Legwand trade' was curious about the status of that.

"I don't know why they're not coming here" This is why, Ken. This is why.

Who else burst out laughing when they heard? All Ken Holland has done this offseason is sign players for Grand Rapids...at least that's what we hope he's doing...

Wake me up when this team gets a real GM.

Zetterbergs beard alone is a superstar which in turn makes him a superstar

I'll be going into great detail examining Kent Huskins' exit next week.

He'll probably be signed next year too...

At least one good thing came of this...I really hope Cleary just goes on ltir all year again. But I know he will be in the top 6 for a while, I didn't want to believe it was possible. I guess I just like to give #fireholland the benefit of the doubt too much.... Well we're done until Alfie is ready to sign Edit : auto crocodile sucks today

There are no words, other than Holland has to go.

Remember when we all used to joke about them both re-signing like we thought it wasn't possible it could happen? I feel like it's our fault. We made this happen. We joked too much...

I don't think anybody is saying that all the young guys are untouchable. But rather that they shouldn't be traded for peanuts. Which should be obvious, except that it isn't to some folks.

this is cute.....why don't they get married while they're at it and then they can punch cabbies together? There's no way Kane is worth that money! and don't get me started on Toews' playoff beard......

Kane's gonna get soooooooooooooo wasted tonight! PARTY!!!! WOOOO!

Quince @4.5, Cleary @1.5...I know there's term and circumstances, yada, yada, yada, but I can't help but seeing $6m that should be going to a top 4D or top 6F...

Frank, I'm pretty certain everyone understands that they got "market value". But the problem is, for myself anyway, that I don't agree what the market dictates that players get. I don't think any one man is worth $10.5 million dollars per year. The money that these guys make (some are still kids), in my mind, is beyond ridiculous.

What is the plan with Mrazek?

Mrazek is better off with a heavy workload in GR. And if monster or Howie go down with injury he's the only one I trust to step in. The teams done a good job managing tender depth since Conklin IMO

The Owners/League never learn, do they? I guess they can just continue to give out ridiculous contracts, while raising the cap, and in a few years ***** and moan until another lockout occurs- pulling their ass out of the fire once again. This has occurred 3 times on Bettman's watch and it's destined to happen again if this continues. There should either be no spending limits or strict ones, the system they have now is a complete joke.

A top four defenseman under contract? Sure. I'd trade almost any of our young guns in a package for Yandle. He's that good AND under contract. But losing a guy as good as Jurco or Tatar for a rental is dumb. How much developmental time and resources go into each prospect? A lot. And the absolute best you can hope for is that they turn into top six forwards or top four defenseman. In Tatar, Nyquist, and Jurco, your best case scenario has come true...and it's DEFINITELY not good value to throw that away for a guy who (if recent history is any indication) isn't going to help you compete for a Cup and probably isn't going to re-sign with your team at the end of the year.

Article on FAs and Red Wings

You can't honestly believe that. 11-12 Roster. Zetterberg Datsyuk Franzen Holmstrom - Gone Bertuzzi - Gone Cleary - Gone/could be in GR Filppula - Gone Hudler - Gone Helm Miller Abdelkader Emmerton - Gone Mursak - Gone Lidstrom - Gone Kronwall White - Gone Stuart - Gone Kindl Ericsson These are guys that played 20 or more games for us. 9 guys still on the starting roster that we're here 3 years ago. Average age of guys that are gone = 33.5 Current probable starting roster (Assuming we sign no more guys) Zetterberg Datsyuk Franzen Weiss - New Nyquist - New Jurco - New Tatar - New Sheahan - New Glendening - New Andersson - New Miller Abdelkader Helm Kronwall Ericsson Dekeyser - New Quincey - New Kindl Lashoff - New Smith - New Average age of guys that replaced to old guys = 24.6. A little under 9 years younger than the guys that left and gets younger if we move Kindl and bring up Ouellet or Marchenko. We're not retooling. We're rebuilding and transferring to a younger core without selling our current core so we're still competitive. Rebuilds don't happen overnight and they're not always 100 successful anyways. Why can't people see that we're an extremely successful team for one that's rebuilding. Would a couple high picks help? Of course. Would trading stars for picks help? Of course. But what other team has rebuilt while remaining competitive? Not many. We're doing it. Be thankful we're not the Oilers.

I think Malkin, Tavares, Stamkos, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are all better. Neither Kane or Toews is even a ppg player. The fact that they were asking $12 million/year is selfish and un classy and I hope it really handcuffs them going forward

    Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

I agree. I always thought that in the best case scenario he'd model his game off of Vanek. He's not the greatest skater in the world either, but he's got a good shot, is sturdy down around the crease, and is a physically strong guy who's not afraid of contact. I don't know if it's too late for Frk to be a poor man's Vanek, but that's probably the guy I see in him the most.

You have to look really close, the "non-real" fans have a birthmark of Crosby on their ass.
