I really don't have an issue with Cleary IF he's playing at an effective level. What I do wonder is if spreading the forwards around so much is going to hurt the team at all. Camp lines are only camp lines, but they're running something like: Helm-Dats-Tatar Mule-Z-Cleary Abs-Weiss-Nyquist Miller-Glendening-Sheahan? (I think? I've seen Sheahan on a line with Jurco, though.) It just feels weird to see the players spread around like that. I'm sure things will sort themselves out during the exhibition games, though.

He doesn't have to be great defensively, but do you think he could at least try to be average? He does the Controller Disconnected thing all over the ice, all the time. Regarding Mogilny, the Devils used him on their checking line at the end of his career.

Completely agree. I love Dano and I know he's happy to be anywhere in the lineup. Some healthy competition helps everybody. If Nyquist was granted a spot in the lineup he may not have came out the way he did. We got a lot of guys that have something to prove. Whether it's weiss or even guys like Abby and helm who want to show they aren't just grinders. Everybody has to earn their spot

Actually really glad to hear Cleary has looked good. The guy deserves a comeback year and it doesn't matter who it is, good hockey players make the wings better.

Ovechkin is the epitome of the lazy, one dimensional Russian of this generation. He is waiting for the puck on the powerplay and unloads his crazy one-timer. The Captain wore the Wings logo deep in his heart, the return to glory started with him, Stevie even changed his whole game just to help out the team. The guy basically played some playoff series on one leg and NEVER complained. Making him captain has been a real mistake, he isn't a leader and never will be he is a very good goalscorer but really has no other ability. Ovechkin is what he is and he will never change the words Yzerman and Ovechkin in the same sentence are just *LOL* I hate to say it but the only guy who is close to become a lighter Yzerman is captain serious Jonathan Toews also at least to me the best pure goalscorer and TEAM guy is Stammer, he never complains is already elite and keeps working his butt off to be in even better shape each year, something that can't be said about Ovechkin. btw. the sad thing is if more Russians were like Pasha and less like like Ovechkin, Kovalchuck there wouldn't even be a russian factor in the NHL and some of them could MAYBE turn into useful two way players.

This isn't that surprising though considering when Mule pushes himself he is an absolute beast and can dominate any game. It just doesn't happen night in and night out.

IDK who dnumber9 is, but I gotta say I like the guy! A trade involving those guys or others like them would be awesome, but it's not gonna happen. No one wants to give up anything good for our scraps. Phasing those guys out and bring up the kids is not a one season/preseason process. They're going to be phased out throughout this season and the coming ones. It's a brand new season. Ferraro Callahan Cleary and Kindl could all surprise us and come back better then ever. Well-liked guys like Tatar could suddenly disappoint. You just don't know. Ericsson surprised everyone. Hudler disappointed everyone. I think all our scraps deserve a fair shot to prove they're not what we have pigeon-holed them to be. If they don't do that I have no problem sending them down for a kid. Lets just be patient and honor the players who deserve a shot. The sudden eagerness to throw Callahan to the wolves particularly irks me. Highly praised by LGW throughout last season for his goal scoring and toughness in GR, now suddenly hie' expendable. People have 2 minutes memories.

Anyone else think Trotz may request that Tootoo be brought to Washington?
