    2015 Draft

July 28, 2013? I was probably preoccupied with the endless butt patting. That was right after Hampus Melen was drafted.

    Great Brandon Prust Article

I love Sean Avery. The guy is endlessly entertaining. I also love that Detroit got rid of him though too.

Nabokov traded back to San Jose

Yeah, heard he was acquired so he could retire as a shark. Classy move, I like it.

What should we do with the Monster?

Wasn't sure where esle to put this but Mrazek is staying up and starting Wednesday with Howie backing up. Per Khan. "@AnsarKhanMLive: Babcock said Mrazek starting Wednesday. Howard is backing up. Howard might start Saturday." Also I apologize for not being able to embed tweets and make it look cool.

Babcock: "HE WINS, FULL STOP" - THN

I think he has a legit shot to win the Jack Adams this year as well. Like he's not going to have enough leverage already... Either way, I fully expect him back behind the Red Wings bench next season.

That does seem messed up. But, i'm curious, does anyone know what "the verdict" was?

    Great Brandon Prust Article

Went to school with him, and am friends with a former team mate of his. He is a nice guy though and through. I'd love to have him on Detroit. He's the type of guy who works for his minutes, and isn't pissy if he doesn't get them. Grit, and being stable in the mind (180 of someone like avery).

I don't think you understand player value. Every team has players like those kids, and they get more every year. They have no value on their own. Even as part of a package they don't have much value. Those types are throw ins until they actually show something in the pros.

When his contract was up he asked for too much (somewhere near 6 mill, i think, but my memory could be off). Sharks were really close to the cap and wanted to use the money elsewhere or else they'd have the same team that hadn't gotten them very far.) Then in free agency, some weird situation happened where he waited for the sharks until all goaltending openings were gone or maybe no one wanted to pay him a big contract (kind of forget). I remember thinking it was a good cautionary tale about dealing with Free agency, though. He definitely should have been able to find a good spot, but it kind of messed up career when he was pretty much in his prime. Edit: I also think Niemi was signed after he was gone, but I could be wrong

They were never on the same team together... well until today.

Whatevs, I still love Shane Doan. Guy's a monster and has had a great career. And anybody who thinks he's not a good leader ought to think back to how he played against us in the playoffs. Dude is a beast. And beasts are usually hotheads... which is why Luke Glendening rules. Hotheads HATE Luke Glendening.

Babcock: "HE WINS, FULL STOP" - THN

Give it a rest Frank. You're only saying that so, what? If he doesn't sign you can say, "well, unfortunately I was right", and if he does sign here, you can be "pleasantly surprised"... Babcock is not going anywhere. Why would he? There are about 100 more reasons for him to stay than there would be for him to leave... This is an up and coming team that is only going to get much much better over the next few seasons. He knows this. Why wouldn't he want the opportunity to coach two completely different Red Wings teams to Stanley Cups? He loves coaching these kids. Like, zombo said, he already coaches the best player in the league, Pavel mother f***ing Datsyuk. Both Pav and Hank are still basically point per game players, Nyquist and Tatar should both hit 60 points this season, and only improve on that in years to come. The Red Wings as an organization is the best in the National Hockey League, hands down, the best owner, the best GM and the best coach. The Wings were expected to finally miss the playoffs this season, and they're quite possibly going to win the East and have a good shot at winning the President's Trophy. But yeah, no chance he wins the Jack Adams... I'll say it again, Babcock has a legit shot at winning the Adams, and he absolutely, 100% will re-sign after this season.
