    Gus injured; Mrazek re-called

We all know Jimmy has it in him. Just look at the NYR game. He played out of his mind. Consistancy is his problem.

I decided this bad play was my doing. So I went and got some gas station nachos and a case of beer. I just hope I can drink enough beer to get this luck to change. PS. #croptopit

You mean the one where Jimmy let in two in the first and then the wings didn't score a goal all game and Boston won 3-0 with an en at the end of the game. Ya really fell apart in the third.

    Franzen on IR

So, the forum that decries the guy every chance they get because he's lazy, sucks, and doesn't try hard enough... is now going to complain about the fact that he's actually going to try to come back from serious injury? Seriously?! Come ON! I really shouldn't be surprised, but... Do you really think the Wings would allow him to hit the ice if he weren't ready to at least give it a real shot at coming back? On top of that -- None of us are doctors... so don't pretend you know what's best for his career, his long term health, etc. despite anything you may have learned in HS Physiology/Anatomy classes. You don't know. AND if he's at least trying to get back out there on the ice for his team, with his horrible boat anchor of a contract (not actually) you should give him around of applause for trying.

    Gus injured; Mrazek re-called

I was pretty anti-Howard back when we still had Lidstrom. But after his playoff performance in 2013, I was pretty impressed by Jimmys play, he was def the MVP end of that season and post season. Point is, Jimmy has it in him. He has A LOT of weak points, but he is pretty solid overall. I think Mrazek is the alpha to his omega. Mrazek is strong at things Jimmy is weak at (puck movement, closing off tight gaps when players come around the corner, etc). I believe both of them will complement each other very well and could be a dynamic duo after this season if we let Gus walk. Babcock could easily use Mrazek over Jimmy with certain teams that he believes they need a 3rd defenseman moving the puck around with.

Me, I like old school, old Wings, new Wings... and Al to top off the GDT! thanks, Mikey!! Glenny on the first line, huh? Well, he did get a goal last game, which is more than I can say for some of 'em. D needs to show up tonight, and don't be standing around. I can no longer throw my shoe at Mule, like I used to. Fixin' to pick out a new whipping boy here, pretty shortly. Goalies are too easy as a target. D men: get in line for my wrath if you don't block some shots and play like you mean it tonight. Enough of this silliness. LGW!!!

Living in TN, I get to see a lot of Preds games here broadcasted locally, they are a strong squad, control games, and have the tools to go deep in the playoffs. I know it's tough for this being a Wings fan site to have a strong opinion of another team that you may or may not watch too often, but they built their team the right way and I think they can contend and go pretty deep. I also don't hate the trades they did make, I think the inevitable regular season losing skid came at the wrong time with the addition of their two new players, but long term, both will contribute in their own way. Santorelli was relatively strong on a weak Toronto squad, and Franson is a guy we would have liked to see here. I'll boldly predict conference finals. I also don't feel they are THE best team in the league, but I also don't rule them out of a potential conference final in the playoffs this season. They are better than some people here are giving them credit for. These games the Wings play against teams and seem to be lopsided, putting us on our heels, the Preds have done that against a lot of teams in a lot of games this year, good teams among lesser squads as well. They can dominate and control a game pretty firmly, and it happened without Rinne between the pipes also. With failing teams in the South like Phoenix, I like to see Nashville thriving, competing, and attracting fans. It's good for the sport.
