I don't think you can call him enigmatic after 2 seasons. He's had 1 good year and 1 bad, that's all there is to it. With Blashill coming in he'll be used properly (scoring role, not checking). So I expect a better year from him.

I think this "checking role" thing is being overstated. Probably because it was later in the season and so fresher in everyone's mind. Jurco bounced around lines quite a bit this year. I'm not going to add up all the numbers, but war-on-ice.com data shows he spent quite a lot of time on scoring lines. Looks like he was with Sheahan and Tatar as much or more than he was with Miller and Glendening. Also looks like a decent amount with Weiss, Helm, and Datsyuk. At least a little with just about everyone. And that's not including all his PP time. I'd certainly say his overall time with other scorers was much greater than his time with checkers. Furthermore, even when playing with guys like Miller and Glendening it's not like he's being told to go out and not score. Glendening had 12 goals. We've seen plenty of 4th-liners hit double-digits in goals in recent years. Guys that don't have the kind of skill Jurco has. Even if he gets used the same way next year, he can and should (and I believe, will) be more productive.

Don't get me started on the Aurie thing. That was a classless move by Ilitch.

I have a feeling that if Kenny goes to the UFA for a d-man.... it'll probably end up being Franson. He's under-performed a little the last couple of seasons (especially in Nashville) and may not command as much as Green. Who knows what might happen though. Kenny will probably just stick with the kids anyway.

Why all the hate on Jurco? I get he wasn't the best of the call ups, be he also was the youngest and had the least amount of experience. Watching him in GR (my limited times in the playoffs) it seemed like the puck just followed up. He has size and skill, he will put it together.

That's because the Griffs are making it easy on him. They gain the zone and toss the puck at him from the perimeter. Of course it's easy for him to deal with. They've got not net front presence and nobody is making plays in the offensive zone. They look like a team full of Mikael Samuelssons.

Nah dude, he sucks. Cut him. Make him trade bait. Cut bait and trade him. etc. Why? Because one time, there was this guy named Ville Leino. And get this, Ville Leino was lazy, arrogant, and entitled. So therefore, he sucked. And Jurco wasn't really very good this year either. So chances are, he's probably like Ville Leino. Because both of them weren't very good, for totally different reasons. Make sense now?
