BOLD ASS PREDICTION AA has played his last game in GR

People seem to come up with a narrative about how Byfuglien is too fat yet he consistently plays a ton of minutes every night and is arguably better than all of our current defenseman are and ever will be.

Seeing this game makes me think... I'm surprised we don't see more people complaining and bitching about games like this where a team takes the lead and dares to keep playing. Especially in the age of ultra "politically correct" extremism, where people think that nobody should be made to feel bad or be offended for any reason. Makes me think back to the 07-09 Wings when we were dominating opponents, and how the media would crucify the Wings if they went up by 4 and didn't either just give up and play defense the rest of the game or let the other team get a "catch up" goal or two so they would feel better. If the Wings even dared to keep playing (god forbid scoring another goal) back then after going up 4, they be accused of showboating and torn completely apart the next day in the press.

I think it was Edmonton that exploited this back in the 80s because their chances of scoring 4 on 3 were much better than 5 on 4, so when they got a power play someone would goon it up and get the coincidental minors to make it 4 on 3, and raise their odds at a goal.

FYI if Dustin Byfuglien was on our team right now ... Mr. Fatty would be third in points behind Larkin and Z. A bit embarassing that a fat guy is outscoring our small skilled forwards while playing defense! He also has more goals than everyone on our team except Larkin. It's hilarious.

Giving Goose for any rental would be a bad idea, period. The training thing is simple logic: the older you get the harder you need to train to stay in shape, if you don't do it you'll fall behind. I'll laugh hard at whichever team signs him for anything more than 3 years.

Put Jurco and Pulk with people who can play offense. Make Helm a check line player again. Let Larkin play center. Bench Richards Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelakder Tatar-Larkin-Jurco Nyquist-AA-Pulk Helm-Glendening-Sehahan

If he's available at the right price? Sure. But the inherent problem with free agency is that if someone worthwhile were available at the right price, every other team in the league would come knocking. Someone is going to overpay for Byfuglien and I hope it isn't us.

Giving up everything you suggested in a year that we are not looking like a cup winning team for a rental is a horrible hockey move.
