I think when you've had 2 40 goal seasons at the OHL level, it means you've developed to the top of the league. I think he should definitely be in the AHL next year and take the next step. These articles say his shortcomings are that he needs to work on foot speed and bulk up. Get him with our pro trainers.

Go big and get a high end player or stand pat and go with youth. No more mid level vets.

Since, there is a sharks topic in here. I've talked to a few people in here. And I'll tell you what went on as a Sharks fan perspective and who went to the game. It was a sold out game( It felt like the early 2000's tbh and the arena felt like the most intimidating arena again). This game was a emotional game for the fans. All the Hardcore fans came back to this game. Most of the hardcore shark fans have been boycotting the Sharks home games. It all started with the Reverse sweep from the Los Angeles Kings ( I was at that game 7 also). Obviously none of the fans were happy including me. After that year, 50-75% of the season tickets dropped out. ( Including me). They raised prices at the beginning of last year. Sharks didn't make the playoffs. After that year, they still raised prices. Sharks fans were getting pissed at ownership of why they would need to raise prices when they sucked last year. Only 12 out of the 40 some games were sold out this year. You already know the final score. You guys probably know the heartbreak the Sharks have had over the years in the western conference. You should know since you were one of the teams that caused us to be heartbroken especially when Marleau couldn't clear the zone in game 4 with about a minute left and Lang scored from the left face off circle and beat Nabokov 9-hole and then Schenider won it in double overtime. ( Yes, I still remember every key moment in every playoff loss). But when Couture scored that empty netter, you look around you see people hugging. You see people wiping their faces because they were crying. I was sitting next to this old couple, they have been season ticket holders for 25 years. They said to me earlier in the game" I just want to live long enough to see the Sharks make it to the Stanley Cup Final". As the buzzer sounded, I just gave them a group hug and said" We did it! We're finally going to the Stanley Cup Final after all these heartbreaks". After the game and the ceremony, I just sat in my seat not moving from my seat. Remembering all the Heart breaks. Remembering all the former players that helped this organization and seeing them try their hardest to us in this position like Nolan, Damphousse, Cheechoo, Nabokov, S. Thornton, Sundstrom, Mccauley, Murray, the list can go on. And I just sat in my seat and started crying. The Shark fanbase has gone through so much. It's great to see the Fanbase and the organization rewarded. And not to mention, Marleau and Thornton deserve this more than anyone on the Sharks team.

You say you want Richards but not others because they're too old and worthless in the same post. If you want Richards back at any price you're ok with old and useless.

Wings acquire SJ prospect Dylan Sadowy

I get the feeling he was somebody the brass had their eyes on to draft in the 4th round but San Jose beat them to it. I like it! This quote below that video is great:

I think your issue is you generalize posters a bit too much. No where in his post did he speak of Detroit Red Wings or Stamkos coming here. The fact that Stamkos didn't sign an extention and rejected the Lightnings first offer has caused speculation of him possibly moving on to another team for months now. This isn't a LGW thing, or a "universe revolving around Detroit" thing, this is a hockey media thing. Almost all team forums and general forums from HFboard to hockeyfights.com have people talking about where Stamkos will sign (whether it's Tampa or Toronto or some other team). I think majority of posters here have assumed Stamkos will either re-sign with Tampa or go back home to Toronto (because Stamkos happened to "like" a Tweet they made about him going there). Just because people are hoping he hits free agency and Holland makes an offer doesn't mean much will happen. But speculation is speculation, EVERYONE from the media, his teammates, the Wings management and players (even Henrik Zetterberg in a recent interview mentioned "many free agents available and it will be interesting to see how it plays out") are either thinking or talking about this. And until he signs somewhere, speculation will continue to happen. And even if he signs with Tampa - which he might as long as they offer him the max contract rather than the $8.5 million they offered (which he rejected) it wouldn't really be a "told you so" type of situation lol. Stamkos is one of the first big names out there that didn't sign right away with his team (unlike Kopitar, Toews, Kane, Corey Perry, Getzlaf) . This is sort of thing doesn't just happen. Also I'd like to think that fans (whether it's Detroit, Boston, Buffalo or whatever teams that need a superstar) are allowed to hope and be optimistic. It's okay.

He definitely sounds worth losing the third round pick. Excited to see this guy develop. And that article that krsmith shared only makes him sound better. Here's to hoping Kenny found a future gem.

Stamkos at anything close to reasonable. Backes for 4 years or less. There are a few other guys who could bring some size and toughness and not just be punchers if they signed for a shorter term deal. On defense, get a real legit top pair guy or go with what they have. We don't need another #4 caliber D.

He can still play in junior next season as an overage, 20 year old, as long as the Colts aren't to their limit. Each team in the OHL is eligible to carry three overage players each season. It's up to management and what they think is best for his development. I'm thinking you're right though and he makes the jump to pro and plays next season in Grand Rapids.

Good article on why San Jose was looking to trade him and the kind of production we could potentially get in him... http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/potential-first-round-nhl-draft-pick-no-one-talking/

This was a Game 7 of a Conference Final. They put him in because they thought he gave them the best chance at winning.

We will as long as he can do other things besides that. And from what I'm seeing and hearing he can. Blashill is all about having players who can defend their teammates. Much moreso than Babcock was.

I watched him his entire OHL career here in Saginaw (until he was traded half way through the season last year, which is typical in the OHL), and Wings fans should be excited. I'd argue he's a little tougher version of Abdelkader with a better scoring touch. He was always the first one to jump in & defend his teammates. Was a good captain here. Great pick-up!

Ya we get it next year for sure. No 3re round pick for us this year, via the zidlicky trade. Guy was selected in the third round, and we get him with our worse third round pick after he's had two 40+ goal seasons since being drafted. I'd say we win this deal big-time
  21. 1 point
I don't think we lose anything either because we get Maple Leafs 3rd round pick next season if we don't get it this season..?

2014-15: 42 g, 74 pts 2015-16: 45 g, 70 pts in the OHL. Plus he PKs, blocks shots, plays with some grit. What's not to like!! I wonder what the story is for why SJ wasn't able to sign him before the deadline.
