McDavid failed to break Larkin's record in the speed skating competition. That means Larkin is kind of there "in spirit" defending it ... right?

I thought it was stupid to put celebrities in this. I would have shot a puck at Bierber's head.

Let me put it this way. There's opinion that makes sense and is justifiable and there's opinion that makes no sense, is rubbish and has no justifiable evidence.. That's why people who do that get called out repeatedly. Certain members scapegoat players to make themselves feel better about something that bothers them. When adversity gets in the way as a fan they like to put the blame on something to feel better. Franzen, Holland, Blashill, Swedish players, Ericsson, Helm, Zetterberg, and most likely countless others since they joined the forums. What makes you think Zetterberg isn't speaking up after every game? Redmond's statement was meant to be figure-of-speech like. Not literal. If you aren't smart enough to realize that then lol. Take a look at the following post. TheXym has an opinion different than mine. But he can justify his thought process and actually make sense of it. I responded with "well said". It's called having a dialogue. So no, I don't act like people who have different opinions than me aren't real fans. But I do get involved when people spew out nonsense and don't have good reasons/justifiable evidence for it. I'm not a fan of rubbish being spread around the interwebs.

If Malkin was Canadian he would have most likely made it. Toews gets a bonus for being North American.

I'm glad Mantha isn't going. I want to see him keep that fire going. Don't want him resting on his laurels. He is definitely more deserving though. I just want to see him getting too much too soon by way of accolades.

I agree with this. Toews is, or rather was, a good center, perhaps a fringe top 100 player. Malkin should be a few notches above that, I have no idea about where, but compared to Toews at 100 I'd say Malkin should be 85'ish. This is all about selling a product, thus all this bullcrap comes into play. Really makes me less inclined to watch. I live far far away from any NHL rink. But if one was close, I'd think more than twice before buying any tickets. It's all about profit and not enough about the game. Turns me off. That's also why that rat Marchand didn't get suspended. He's about to play in the all-star game. Can't have that, can we. Rat players, rat politicians behind the scenes.

Like I said. Yzerman and Lidstrom had better luck than Z. Lidstrom by far was the most privileged as a captain from 2006-2012. He had an all-star team for 6 years. On the other hand, Yzerman saw both adversity and success. He had a s***ty team in the 80s which finally became good in the 90s. Zetterberg inherited a s***tier team from the get go.

Lol. There goes Lefty scapegoating people twisting positive words into something negative. Please just stop now before we start unloading on you and your crap you always like to stir up. Redmond obviously meant it as a good thing and here you are trying to make it out as though it's a bad thing. Zetterberg is a more vocal captain than Lidstrom and Yzerman were : http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/01/red_wings_henrik_zetterberg_wi_1.html “(Yzerman and Lidstrom) weren't huge rah-rah type players like (Kris Draper, an alternate captain) was. So you have different personalities, but certainly they're well-respected.'' "Teammates expect Zetterberg to be a bit more vocal than his predecessor. " “Hank's probably a little more verbal than Nick was as a captain." “You need to speak at the right moment and know when to shut up at the right moment,'' he said. “It's not just one guy who's got to do it, everyone has to do it together.'' ---- So by your thought process that means Lidstrom and Yzerman are even worse than Zetterberg since they were less vocal. You walked right into this once Lefty.

You know it's bad when you, yourself are North American and admit to the bulls*** treatment some players get.

Toews couldnt even score 60 pts last season. This year hes on pace for 55. While playing on one of the best teams in the league. Hes already declining at 28! I really hope he falls off completely just so we can end this nonsense. Just being a canadian captain of a current dynasty team shouldnt be what gets you on this list.

    Jeff Blashill

I did. Don't mind admitting that Blashill wasn't the answer, and that I was wrong about that. But I don't think Babs was right for the team any longer either. All of the s*** people get pissed at Blashill for (constant line juggling, over reliance on mediocre veterans, conservative systems, etc.) Babcock did too. He just got more out of the players while doing it. The problem wasn't getting rid of Babcock, the problem (admittedly in hindsight) was that they got a less good version of Babcock to replace him with. Both guys are completely mismatched for the personnel this team has. Also, the notion that Babcock is the "most dominant coach in the league" is absurd. Joel Quenneville is second all time in wins and has 3 Stanley Cups. When it comes to winning NHL hockey games, and Championships, no active coach is as successful as Quenneville. Period.

Is this thread really necessary? In fact it's a pretty sad and pathetic thread.

Probably turned it down if that sort of stuff happens. But I don't think it does. At best perhaps an exception for older players to keep their health in consideration. ----------- I'm glad people are seeing that Toews has been an overrated player and held on a pedestal. Hell I'm glad Toews himself admits he doesn't deserve it. I've been bitching about how overrated he is for like 3 years. Might be the MOST overrated player since he entered the league.

Honestly, I like Vegas's chances. It'll be their first major pro sports team, the city's a major tourist destination, the "hub" of the city never sleeps (having been to Vegas several times, I can personally confirm this), etc. This might turn into something special.

Overreact much? Can Vega$ play its first game/season before people predict its demise? Also, I guess Hartford was a bad market too since they moved to Carolina from there.. but but but, Hartford is in the *gasp* NORTHEAST!! FTA: (7:50pm): Hurricanes team president Don Waddell called an in-game press conference tonight to deny the rumors of relocation, tweets Luke DeCock of The Raleigh News & Observer. In a second tweet, DeCock reports that Waddell also indicated that there had been nothing on the sales front in “four to five months.”
