2017 Stanley Cup Finals: Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Preds were controlling the game until officials took over. The goal being overturned was ridiculous. Theres no way they had a clear enough angle to determine to change their call. The offside review is so inconsistent that there is no point in having it. Either have it be reviewed by one guy in toronto or no review at all. We cant continue to have all these different people making judgements becasue they all have different views, which is a huge problem. On top of that, when is there ever 2 guys who get a penalty in the same shift to make it a 5 on 3 in the finals? And the cherry on top was crosby getting away with such obvious interference right before their first goal. Just disgraceful. I stopped watching. With any luck i check the score later to see a comeback. -

1 pointThe NHL expansion draft is on June 21st. Vegas' free agent window opens 72 hours prior at 10am on June 18th, at which time the NHL will release all 30 teams' protected lists. I expect we will see some trades in the coming weeks leading up to the 18th. Hopefully Holland gets involved and makes some big moves to shed some bad contracts and free up some cap space.

Glendening is a replaceable part made almost immovable by a stupid contract. They should be able to easily move on from guys like him and Helm because they're on cheap short term deals. Instead both are signed 2 years too long for $800k + too much money. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -

Well Nashville was definitely the better team last night. That goal being disallowed really reversed the game and gave the Pens momentum that led to 3 of their goals. *I* don't think it should have been overturned. Unless there's some video angle that I haven't seen yet, I didn't see any conclusive evidence that showed his foot off the ice. We can speculate that he probably DID have his foot off the ice based on the next couple seconds after that, however, speculation isn't enough to overturn anything, it has to be 100% conclusive aka you can clearly see his foot on or off the ice. His skate blade, on the reviews I saw, was not visible, therefore it should have remained a goal. Nashville isn't in trouble until they lose a game at home and if they can split on the road and continue to play like they did last night, they'll be in good shape. Rinne had an awful game, but I don't think the Pens will win many more games if they only get 11 shots on him. This could end up being a better series than I anticipated. -
1 pointFew shots from Tatar... Q: Surgery was postponed for a long time.. T: Yes, it was. I was struggling a lot. I was able to play, but wasn´t very comfortable. I was not able to my job on the ice. Surgery was obviously needed. Hopefully I decided to go for surgery right after season´s end. I was not sure if I can finish the season. I´ve found physiotherapist there in Detroit and he saved the rest of the season, fixing my shoulder. ... Q: Last season was really bad for Wings, no p-o after 25 years. Next one should be better, right? T: Sure. Last one was pretty bad, everybody pretty sad about that, fans as well. Everything has it´s end. We didn´t want it that way, but injuries together with bad form.. one thing together with another ones and we didn´t make it. Q:. Still solving the contract with Detroit? T: Yes, still working on it, obviously we have plenty of time. First priority is draft, then expansion draft for Las Vegas. Our GM Holland has hard days right now. My contract isn´t priority at the moment. Yes, well, I´d like to solve it out, for sure, but I´m patient, don´t want to hurry. Both sides need something, me as well. Q: GM Holland had some good words on you during WC2017. Do you expect smooth negotiation? T: I don´t expect major roadblocks. For sure I don´t want to go under some price, as well as Holland doesn´t want to overpaid. But it´s common. I´ve got good relationship with Kenny and it should be fine. + 2 more questions about his rehabs, but not interesting. Way different approach and answers like last time, obviously he knows he has limited value with his shoulder at the moment.

Exactly this. Unless the "missed call" directly effects the play, such as the Duchene goal a few years ago, or the bulls*** goal scored by Anaheim against Edmonton when Kesler literally grabbed Talbot's pad while Rakell put the puck through the fivehole, which would have been covered had there not been goaltender interference... That was a play that was challenged and the call on the ice stood up, but this play was somehow overturned? What a joke... We have the technology to eliminate some of the human error in the game. I'm okay with that, but when you're talking about a fraction of an inch in the fastest game in the world, I think it should be used more so for the obvious plays. I'd like for coaches to be able to challenge penalties and phantom calls rather than the bulls*** we witnessed last night. -
1 pointDon't understand why everyone gasses Rinne so much he let in some awful goals against Anaheim and lost them games single handedly off great team performances. Now he makes 6 saves in an entire game. Huge wasted opportunity Those kinds of offsides are so arbitrary too. There's no kind of advantage gained by picking up your skate by a fraction of an inch a millisecond before the puck fully crosses the blueline Also how is that replay footage conclusive enough to call a goal back? That's just a bad call

Conclusively off the ice? You must have seen an angle they didn't show. There wasn't anything conclusive there. I'm calling Al Sharpton right now. -

Bullcrap call. No convincing evidence that the skate was off the ice. That call was obviously motivated by racism. -
1 pointI really really wonder what kind of legacy Konstantiov would have left had he the opportunity to play out his entire career. That man was a phenomenal defenseman.

1 pointThe elite teams have been able to stay elite, there is doubting that, but dont kid yourself into thinking there is no parity in the NHL. Parity is not defined by ONLY who's wins the championship, but rather who contends for it. Just look at the standings this year: In the Atlantic the top 4 teams didn't even make the playoffs last year. In the Eastern Conference only 3 of the 8 playoff teams made the playoffs last year. Look at Ottawa, didnt make it last year, were 1 goal away from making the Stanley Cup finals this year. Dallas was the #1 seed in the West last year, didnt make the playoffs this year. The Pens keep winning because they have the best 2 centers in the world locked in long term, not because of some big conspiracy. There is no denying parity. You want to see a league with no parity, look at the NBA.

IF they trade Green at the draft or can somehow dump Ericsson, and IF Shattenkirk would accept a 2 or 3 year deal at $5 mil or so, I'd be ok with it. Only in those circumstances. -

1 pointTheir odds are definitely smaller then they were 10 years ago, but it doesn't mean that you "can't" get anyone, or that you shouldn't try. One thing they do have is the history and linage of being the Detroit Red Wings, and a down Detroit team is still going to have a chance.
