I hope we trade Green to the Leafs (no lottery protection) and they free fall out of a playoff position, and win the draft lottery... -

I hope that we get a first for Green, and that the team that acquires him gets bounced in the first round. -

The reality is, there are a lot of players in junior that are very skilled a high scoring players in the context of the rest of the group they are playing with, but they aren't skilled enough to move on to the NHL and be good scorers. Those guys can go 1 of two ways, 1) adapt their game and see if they can make it in a different role (e.g. Maltby) or 2) don't end up pursuing the NHL. I laugh every time I hear about Maltby scoring 50 goals in junior though....to put it in perspective, here are some data points - from that same year, same league (16 teams): - 27 players scored at least 45 goals or 90 points - Maltby had 50 goals and 91 points - Darren McCarty had 55 goals and 127 points - 2 others were Corey Stillman and Andrew Brunette, who each went on to play over 1,000 games in the NHL and score more than 700pts - 7 of those players combined to average 19 goals and 43 points over their entire NHL careers - 16 - never played a shift in the NHL, which included the leading scorer who had 146 points -
2 pointsI think E won't be moved because I believe Holland has zero desire to move him. With Green likely gone, Kronwall being a year away from retirement or less from LTIRetirement, and XO/Jensen being nothing more then 3rd pairing guys I dont think Holland would want to move E. You never know with Tatar or Nyquist, I guess it all depends what the market is. If he gets a Vanek like offer, no chance. If he gets something with serious substance though he should do it. Hey, that's good for us. Kane having a ridiculous asking price makes our options look better. Keep asking for the moon Buffalo! I'm split on this. Howard has earned the net wayyy more then Mrazek. But for the future of our team you can argue that trading Howard and giving Mrazek one season to make or break may be better for us. The fact that Howard has worth right now and Mrazek is worthless is even more the reason to consider this. With that being said, Mrazek is owed nothing, I am just looking at what may be better for the team long term. I am a much bigger Howard fan then Mrazek fan.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Jonas Mahonas reacted to kickazz for a post in a topic
I doubt it, Tatar played with Datsyuk in 2015 and still had a lower scoring rate overall. Radulov is simply better. Sure Tatar's points may increase with Benn and Seguin but there is no doubt that he's an overpaid player. Besides, Radulov is more of an assist guy now so he's obviously creating some offense on his own. Either way, people doubted this guy for the dumbest reasons, in the end he's a good hockey player that's earning his contract in Dallas, and he earned it in Montreal too tbh. And whatever he did when he was 22 years old or whatever shouldn't have been a reason to hate the guy as a 31 year old. Seems like the fans in Dallas love the guy. -

I actually agree that trading either Nyquist or Tatar for a mid-round first aint a horrible idea, combine that with trading Green for a 1st (along with another pick and prospect) and we'd be sitting pretty good in what's supposed to be a very very strong draft class. -
1 pointIt's very possible that we could have 4 picks in the top 35 or so in this year's draft. We'll get a top 10, maybe top 5, hopefully top 3, praying for #1... along with a late first for Green (28-31), and two early 2nd's, our own (34-39), as well as Ottawa's from the Smith trade (34-39). That's not even including the possibility of trading other pieces. MORE PICKS PLEASE MR. HOLLAND!!!

Ok, this is simple. Let's say, we trade away Tatar, Nyquist, XO, Green, Ericsson, Howard and Mrazek. Abby, Helm and Glen are still hurt. That Leaves AA - Larkin - Frk Bertuzzi - Z - Mantha Booth - Nielsen - Turgeon Witowski (who can actually be the 7th D as well) DD - Daley Kronwall - Jensen Halak (in the Howard Deal) Now, looks like we need three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie. We do not want to deplete GR, but we do have options. Of course I am getting a few from GR, lets say Coreau, Hicketts, Puempel, Street. The Walleye only have two of our contracted players, Machovsky and Nastasiuk, who can come to GR and not deplete Toledo. We also have a D on loan in Europe, Libor Sulak, who we could bring over to help fill the empty spots. Also, you're getting Foote back in the Green deal and he would replace Hicketts in GR. Puempel and Street will only be up until Helm, Abby or Glen come back, like I said Witowski can double up as the extra forward or extra D. So lets see: AA - Larkin - Frk Bertuzzi - Z - Mantha Street - Nielsen - Booth Witkowski - Turgeon - Puempel DD - Daley Kronwall - Jensen Hicketts - Sulak Halak Coreau Full team iced. It's entirely possible and doable, but of course highly unlikely. But for Gits and Shiggles, this is how it could work without depleting GR. -

Radulov has 42 points in 46 games this year. And no coaches have been maimed, assaulted or verbally threatened. This man is making roughly one more million per year than Tomas Tatar is and has more than double his points. Pathetic that people wanted to overpay Tatar and shied away from this guy because he was supposedly a punk 10 years ago. -

Nyquist would bring back a better return than Tatar in my opinion. There's no way I'd trade both our goalies and count on Coreau. Everything else is somewhat believable, except for the fact that Holland won't do any of it... -

Rumors Thread
krsmith17 reacted to LeftWinger for a post in a topic
Pit, Vegas and STL are looking to bolster their wing position. The price for Kane is astronomical, Tatar and Nyquist would cost tons less. Not saying a trade going to happen for sure, but teams that are looking for a scoring winger to help them over the top, are going to call about those two. Let's just hope Holland keeps the "ask" price down so we can actually collect some picks! -
1 pointOne of the great injustices of our time. D-Mac had an even better final season in Jr., led the OHL in goals and was a CHL 1st-team all-star, but Malts got all the "50-goal-in-junior" cred. Probably the root of Darren's substance abuse problems, really.

I've heard this draft being compared to the 2003 draft for depth, in that you could get some high end talent outside of the top 10 (such as a Carter, Seabrook, Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler, Richards, Perry, Eriksson, Bergeron, Weber, Backes, Pavelski, Byfuglien, etc). But it also has the potential to be more top heavy (top 3-5) than most drafts, with the elite, potential generational talent in Dahlin, and potential super-stars in Svechnikov, Zadina, Tkatchuk, etc. I think it's the plethora of guys that will go in the first couple rounds that could be good to very good NHL players that is giving it the label of being a "strong draft" though. If you're asking how many players will start next season in the NHL, my guess would be 3-5. How many will be NHL players (play at least 200 games), I'd say it could be as high as 45-50 from the first 2 rounds. Hopefully we can land at least 2 super-star to elite level guys with (hopefully) our 7+ picks in the first three rounds... -

Seriously? You don't pass up on elite wingers just because of position. You take best player available. That's like saying the Caps should have passed over Ovechkin or the Hawks should have passed over Kane. Sure, if all else is equal, you take the center or defenseman, but if there's a significant difference (which there seems to be with Svechnikov), you take the best player. -

We physically can't sign him unless we shed some salary. My point to bump this thread was to show that he proved many folks wrong. Radulov did very well this past season and matched his previous highs when he was younger. And he did it as a 30 year old. And no referees were maimed/kill this past season either. For some reason people thought his past action was going to somehow magically hurt us. Or something. -

How about Green to Tampa for a 2nd and Foote, Tatar to Pit for a 1st, Nyquist to Vegas for a 2nd, Howard to Isles for Halak and a 4th, Mrazek to EDM for a 3rd, XO to MTL for a 4th, Ericsson to DAL for a 5th. That would give us two 1sts, four 2nds, three 3rds, three 4ths, one 5th and two 6ths. That's 15 picks, Foote and Halak along with a ton of cap space for next season.
