If the price isn't right, I will just assume re-sign them. Both Gus and Jimmy have earned new contracts here. My price id a 1st for each. Bottom line. I do not want a low 2nd from a contender. Gus can have 4 years to help this rebuild along, and even Jimmy probably won't be here for our next Cup, Bernier is garbage (hated the signing from day 1) and right now, we really don't have a G to step in and be a #1. So, I am sure you are picking you jaw up off the floor ATM, but if we don't get at LEAST a 1st for each, I am keeping Gus and Jimmy and extending them. If I am the GM, I already have agreements on the table for them to sign if we don't move them. Again, I want no part of moving Jensen, but again, if a 2nd+ comes my way, I probably would, but I would hate it.

Of all the players being talked about, I will be the most upset if Jensen is traded. I've been in his corner for a long, long time.

All I know is that if Holland doesn't trade two of this team's top 5 players at this year's deadline I am going to be pissed.

The only thing that changed from the 2016 (Matthews) draft to the 2019 (Hughes) draft, as far as I know, is the last place team went from having a 20% chance at 1st overall to an 18.5% chance. And that was only due to the added team (Vegas) in 2018. I think in 2014 the odds were something like 25% for the last place team getting the number one pick.

Svechnikov has been skating on his own for the past couple weeks, and skated with the team today during the morning skate. Hopefully he'll be ready to go soon. The Griffins could have an extremely talented team for a playoff run with Zadina, Frk, Svechnikov, Rasmussen, Hronek and Cholowski, as well as veterans Terry, Puempel, Megan and Camper...

It realllllllly blows that they changed the lottery format. Of course they just HAD to do it as the Wings entered their Suck Phase. And they just HAD to wait until the Leafs got their Sacred Calf before changing the odds. Bulls***!!!!!

Yeah, it's amazing how terrible Ottawa have been this season, especially knowing they don't own their 1st round pick. I think they're really going to regret taking Tkatchuk last year, despite how well he's been playing. Those head to head matchups between two fellow tankers are what we need more of. One of those s*** teams are guaranteed 2 points, with the potential for a 3 point game. I don't want to lose the rest of the games this season, and I'll be cheering for them to win every game, but I'll be cheering just as hard for Ottawa, Los Angeles, New Jersey and Edmonton to win... But yeah, I am hoping Holland can trade some key pieces to help our 2019 draft in acquiring picks, and bettering our draft position.

Agree the tank is strong with Ottawa and to think that will result in them not even getting the pick. Although LA is doing a massive job of tankage having lost 5 in a row! I am still hoping for a "strong" showing from us after the deadline especially if Jimmy gets traded. Hopefully Bernier leads us to the promised land of high draft picks. If we can get into the 2nd spot worse case we pick 5th so I am hanging my hat on that. I prefer to increase my odds as much as possible so prefer 2nd vs 3rd. Crap part is NJ plays Sens tomorrow so we need that to go to OT min. Head to heads like that are going to be rough coming down the stretch.

I'm thinking we can probably rule out a last-place finish for the Wings. The Sens are a mess and they're very likely going to be losing at least one of their core players; their tank game is simply stronger than ours. Moving Howard might give us an honest shot, but I'm assuming Howard stays. P.S. F*** the Oilers. What an absolute joke of an organization.

Anyone on the current roster who's a pending UFA hopefully realizes that there's a good chance that Holland would re-sign them come July...Not only would they help themselves by being traded to a team that has playoff potential, but the Wings in the form of draft pick/s. I will say that I just recently acknowledged his performance...A late bloomer whom I'd love to see stick around for a few more seasons (only after he's traded for a 1st rounder by the deadline, and then re-signs with Detroit in July).

Don't worry, we'll be in the running for the Lafreniere sweepstakes regardless, but getting younger should be the priority in my opinion. Keeping Cholowski and Hronek down, and keeping Kronwall and Ericsson / Daley around probably increases our odds, but I'd take the development of two young kids already in the system over a slightly (5-10%) better chance at drafting number one overall a year and a half from now.

In my opinion, both Cholowski and Hronek need to be on the roster full time next season. With Green, DeKeyser, Daley and Ericsson still under contract, talks of Kronwall coming back for another season, talks of Jensen being re-signed, there are no vacant roster spots. Ideally, I'd like to see Kronwall retire, Jensen re-signed and one of Ericsson or Daley traded, waived or bought out. Next season go into the season with... Cholowski - Green DeKeyser - Jensen Ericsson - Hronek

Hopefully we clean house - trade Gus, trade Howard, sent Ericsson off to Antarctica for a bunch of Larry Murphy hot dogs...

Sounds like Jakob Silfverberg will be staying in Anaheim. If so, that takes a Nyquist-esque 28-year-old Swedish winger off the trade market. In theory, that helps Nyquist's trade value.

Based on everything we're hearing, that's essentially the approach Holland is taking. See if you can't work out an extension, and, concurrently, listen to any and all offers. If it's looking like an extension isn't in the cards, start working the phones more aggressively. I trust that Holland will do the right thing. Or, at least, not totally fudge it up.
