As my friends that are Hawks fans and those that are Pens (I know why have those kinds of friends) when I say we have 11 they say the 50s and 60s don't count. So therefore any championships the Leafs have from that era are summarily dismissed. Therefore we have more done

There is one reason above all others to root against the Leafs, and that is, they have more Cups than Detroit. Sports is about who finishes with the most, so until we have more championships than Toronto, they remain our enemy.

There's so much going against the Leafs in the likeability department. 5 first round exits in a row. Only gotten past 1st round in the playoffs 3 times since 2009 (THAT'S A DECADE...) and lost each time. Can never seem to deliver in game 7s. (Lost game 7 against Pittsburgh in 2009, San Jose in 2011, Chicago in 2013, Tampa Bay in 2015, Boston in 2018, and now Boston again this year 2019) Had a stacked roster in 2005/06 season as 1st seed team and lost to Edmonton in 6 games (8th seed). I imagine this thread may piss off some Babcock fans but I really do think this guy is overrated. I'd say I started feeling that way around 2013 after losing to Chicago and then the Tampa series. But his tenure with Toronto seems to solidify it more and more. It also boggles my mind that with players like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom in their primes he managed to only win 1 stanley cup. Meanwhile Bowman maximized what he was given and won 3, Quenneville managed to get 3 with Toews/Kane/Keith, Daryl Sutter got 2 with Kopitar/Doughty.

Yep haha really though, I think I have a shot if the Canes beat the sharks for the cup. Have the Canes winning the first two rounds and the sharks losing in the cup final. Just probably also need teams no one picked making it to the conference finals.. If the last four are the jerks, Sharks, CBJ and Dallas, I like my chances in the pools I'm in

I agree with your overall point though, Staal was no Crosby or McDavid type of player, and other then him it was mostly second tier players between Stillman, a 35 year old Brind'amour, Cole, Cullen, a 37 year old Recchi, Williams, a 35 year old Doug Weight,Whitney etc. I enjoyed watching that team though, a lot of vets that I really liked at the time.
