    2019 Draft

Thanks man. I've been looking for a place to discuss the Red Wings for a long time - one that is not completely littered with idiots (like every article on Facebook). I think I've found it. I'm excited. A few months ago I thought we had a shot at Byram. I feel there is no way LA passes on him. And I wouldn't be shocked if Chicago or the Avs sniped him either. Either way, exciting draft with a lot of intriguing prospects.

Welcome! The Game day threads are the best. It's mainly music videos, anime and other youtube-clips and only Dabura posting updates. He's a champ.

Regardless if it is or isn't true, Holland handled the whole situation extremely well IMO

That could be - just a 'pretty twig' to have hung up in the office...I'm hoping there's more to it than that...That salmon/fish theme, and color combo is nice.

    ECF- CAR vs. BOS

San Jose was gifted nothing, the loss was on Vegas. 5 minute majors are a thing, it happens. If you are the better team you fight through it and you kill the penalty, even if they let in 2 they are sitting pretty! You let in 4 goals, you can't blame the refs. If Vegas played even half ass D during that PK, then they win. Kudos to SJ for taking advantage. Saying SJ was gifted a win is like saying the Wings were gifted a win in '02 when Cloutier let in the Lidstrom goal. Its sports, stuff happen. The good teams take advantage of situations, the bad teams are taken advantage of.

San Jose And then get scored on sh... nope no sympathy You capitalize on your opportunity, and hold it down when it works against you. Playoff hockey, it's all about how you deal with adversity

    2019 Draft

Not even backed up by past events. Have you even watched him in the AHL? I'm starting to think you don't even know what his real deficiencies actually are, but just parrot whatever initial impression you got from him in junior and then try to back it up with his +/-, as if that's a solid argument. I'm also willing to bet you don't know squat about Veleno outside of his stat line, but choose to rank him above Zadina just for the sake of being obstinate.

I'd like the Sharks to win to get the draft pick upgrade, but i'd like the Blues to win, and maybe go all the way, just to piss off Leafs fans because they have the same 50 year cup draught.

Sharks in 7. Owen Nolan with the center ice blast to destroy the Blues fans' hearts.

Totally agree. Had to be tough for him and he's handling it with pure class.

Sharks advancing benefits the Wings, so that's who I'm going for... 2020 conditional 3rd becomes a 2nd if San Jose make the Stanley Cup Finals (or Nyquist re-signs)...

Ryan Lambert is the quintessential insufferable analytics hipster ******. This is aging really well: https://sports.yahoo.com/learned-dylan-larkin-got-much-140736328.html I guess the question I have here is: “What’s the point?” Larkin is a “franchise player” in Detroit if only because they truly don’t have a better option and more to the point, if you think your “franchise player” is a winger who’s gonna score 50-something points every year, well, that’s not a very good franchise situation overall. Not that anyone needed to be told Detroit was a mess, and not that this contract even pushes them into a worse situation. He’s a perfectly good player with room to grow, but if you’ve worked yourself into a corner where Larkin is a $6.1 million player for you, that says a lot more about the people who are still, inexplicably allowed to run this franchise. Put another way: You don’t have to pay non-franchise players like they’re almost franchise players just because you don’t have anyone better than that. Unless you’re the Red Wings, I guess. I especially like the part where he identifies Larkin as a winger. Not just a guy who's gonna score 50-something points every year, but a *winger* who's gonna score 50-something points every year. Outstanding work, Ryan. The keenest of insights. I wish the Wings had Kyle Dubas at the helm. Dubas is A Smart Hockey Guy who makes Smart Hockey Decisions. That's why his team keeps going on deep playoff runs. That's why his team's cap situation is so good right now. It's just one brilliant move after another in Tronna. The Matthews contract is a work of art. The Nylander contract is a stroke of genius. The Marleau contract is poetry. Thinking Nylander and Marner will settle for hometown discounts "because winning" is *chef kiss*. Giving Tavares All The Moneys For All The Years is downright visionary. Going into the playoffs with a top four of Rielly, Rielly, Rielly, Rielly shows Dubas understands the game on a deep level. The man is living proof that the future is young nerds and the future is now. Hell, I'd settle for John Chayka. He's young and he might've said something positive about stats or something at some point in time, so this is a man who commands respect. Playoffs? Yotes be all up in that. Domi trade? Eh, he needed a change of scenery. Strome? Eh, he needed a change of scenery. Reaching for Barrett Hayton? Good thing Chayka's not an old guy or else I'd have to call it an ill-advised reach born of "Some old guy thinking he's smarter than he really is." Tampa Bay? Cap hell? What cap hell? Steve Yzerman is the best in the business, because Narrative.

    2019 Draft

I don't think there's any way the Rangers take Byram over Kakko, but there's also no way Byram drops to us at 6... unfortunately.
