    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I don´t think they really care about "burning" one year if he a) plays well enough and b) if the opportunity is there. Again a lot of ifs, but if Seider and Cholo are the #1 pairing to start the season in GR and Seider performs well enough, he will be on the second pairing in Detroit and Hronek move up to the first when Green is traded at the TDL. During the DC 3on3 and 5on5 I sometimes had the impression that there was a man playing in junior competition and I truly believe he plays around 20 games in Detroit this year. I try to be as unhyped as possible, but he looks pretty ready to me.

as long as they push each other to new highs, I don´t care who ends up with more points

We will see on both. Hronek has already proved he's legit in my eyes.

I have a weird underlying feeling that Larsson is gonna suit up for the Wings this year and look good.

I don't even really agree with this. I don't think he stinks. Turgeon is the perfect example of why you don't sign players like Abdelkader, Helm, Glendening, etc. to life-term contracts. Turgeon is a replacement level player that could easily step in and play adequately on the 4th line.

I'm not sure about the 20 games in Detroit (I'd love to see it), but everything else I agree with. I'm hoping Cholowski and Seider are the top pairing in GR this season, while Hronek is ripping it up in Detroit.

Would you trade Svechnikov for Aho? Probably not. The Red Wings like Svechnikov because they drafted him, and have never showed any interest in Aho because they had a chance to draft him and didn't...

Turgeon being from Quebec and McCarron being from Michigan isn't the reason I'd make the trade, it's just an aside. What makes you think that McCarron for Turgeon wouldn't improve the team? Last season Turgeon put up a whopping 20 points in 72 games in Grand Rapids, and 0 points in 4 games in Detroit. McCarron put up 21 points in 32 games in Laval, and 1 point in 18 games in Montreal. Sure seems like an upgrade to me... Holland drafted Turgeon, and yes he did pass on McCarron to draft Mantha. I'd say that was a pretty good decision. But who's to say that they didn't really like McCarron too and maybe would have drafted him in the 2nd round instead of Nastasiuk... There's nothing to indicate that the Red Wings like any player outside of the organization, so with that logic, we should never make any trades...

I know at this point it's baiting, but I'll take the bait. Mantha > Athanasiou Mantha will have more goals, assists and points than AA this season. Mark it.

I just looked him up and apparently he's 29. I'd thought he's 27. Pietrangelo sucks. nvm. Do not want.

    2020 Draft Thread

OK, I've gone back and read through the whole debate. Basically, you fell into a Jonas trap and some side arguments sprang up and now we're debating lots of little stuff that doesn't really matter and we're all basically on the same page except for Jonas who kinda lives on his own island and does his own thing and no one's ever really sure if he's trolling or playing it straight. I agree with you: It's rare that a natural winger converts to center at the NHL level and it's even rarer -- bordering on unheard of, at least in today's league -- that the conversion produces an "elite, elite" centerman. And there's a very good reason for that, as you noted. I do think it's fair to say Lafreniere has qualities that suggest he could have a future at center. That's not an especially controversial idea. But I think it's also fair to doubt there's anything to that notion and to say it's all moot because you're getting a superstar winger and there's no point in trying to fix something that is the exact opposite of broken. At the end of the day, I just want a Lafreniere-caliber player. He could be a winger or a centerman or a defenseman or a goalie -- I don't care. I just want a gamechanger. If we get Lafreniere and Yzerman and Blashill (?) are like, "We feel he belongs in the middle," I'll go along with it. I'd expect them to drop it the second it starts to look like a bad idea, because I agree that there's no reason to run that experiment unless you feel the guy just flat-out screams "stud pivot."

Phone home #Illuminati Absolutely. Just thought it was something better than negativity to share.. So who cares. The one one piggybacking doesnt have to do all the work. So who's the real loser now

There's a market for this kind of content! It's why I've joked about starting an LGRW.com YouTube channel where we all get on Skype or whatever and just yell at each other.
