Full disclosure, just gonna be honest. I love this place and Matt was good enough to make me a mod. So many people have left, and the site continues to go down for months at a time. I think i've at this point moved onto HFboards. I seeming can't get a response to the state of the site, why it goes down, and basically every other mod has left by now. Surprisingly, I think we had a lot of fair weather fans here, and I get it, the Wings are really bad right now, but how far the activity has plummeted is disappointing to say the least. I thought a lot more people here would have stuck it out. We went from 15+ page GDTs to 15 replies. I have recently been battling alcoholism and it's been a very hard ride. My life right now is in jeopardy as a result, my liver is ruined. It made my tolerance drop, and I feel like i've been unfair here at times as a result. I always did my best to be fair and understanding. One time, a poster here pulled me into an ongoing private message and I was so drunk I didn't even realize it was a PM, and scolded and modded some people as a result and had no idea that it was exactly that, private. I had no place or reason to get involved and i'm sorry. I've been on an ongoing collapse but i'm getting better. I never wanted to see this site fall apart, but we all have lives, Matt has a family, the team is bad, and LGW isn't what it once was. I just want to apologize to anyone who may think my actions were a part of it. Maybe we can get up again and be what we once were, cool FlashyG GDTs, tons of people posting during games. Let's just do what we can to hold it together. Legit gonna be a softie here, but I love a lot of you guys and want to keep a hold here.

Ras is going to be the "number one center" in the same way that Messier was with the Oilers. He's going to do all the hard work while Larkin racks up the points. Everyone will gush over 70 point Larkin and behind closed doors Larkin will be buying Ras fancy dinners and cases of beer (by that time Ras should have legendary beer drinking abilities to rival Andre the Giant) for his immense efforts. We'll win 5 or 6 Cups, Larkin will go down as one of Detroit's greatest Captains, and on the day his number is hung from the rafters of the brand new, state of the art, Jeff Blashill Memorial Arena, his speech will begin thusly: "This night really belongs to one man, another man, a real man. At the time of the speech Michael Rasmussen will be bedding all of his six or seven big boned wives in a log cabin he built in Montana.

DK is Ericsson level overpaid. Bad defenseman. 20 pts a season. Never does anything remotely impressive defensively. Another warm body. Collecting $5 mil a year. Buh bye. Sign anyone younger.

Not hearing Blashill's voice will be reward enough... I'm also quite convinced we'll hire Gerard, not Lane.

He's been a good soldier and he's been paid well for his service. Time to close the book next year, whether it's at the trade deadline or in the offseason. I'm tired of two-year veteran retirement tours.

When his contract ends, it's good bye. Don't care of he is willing to play for league minimum. He can be easily replaced with someone better.

Should the Wings let him walk after next year? I like him with Seider on the 2nd airing if we can get him for about 2.5 mil per. But that's a steep hit to his current rate. I have a feeling he will be playing hard next year to earn a nice ufa contract. The Wings might not want to pay him the going rate.

Dekeyser can easily be replaced with another Stecher-level signing next summer. Time to move on from Holland-era mediocrity. Not to mention Johansson might be ready to make the jump by then. Hell, even Cholowski passed Dekeyser in usefulness at this point. I'm actually shocked at how quietly responsible he was in most recent stint.

I think Staal did a good job of showing that Dekeyser is just not good.

2/3 requirements have been fulfilled already. Currently locked in at picking 7-9. If Vancouver has any competence what so ever, they'll get 5 out of a possible 14 points with 3 ROWs or simply 6/14 points. That gives us our beloved 6-8 without a lottery win.

Isn't Kulikov kinda mean/dirty? Or am I thinking of someone else? Well, in any case, Kulikov's a pretty good left-shot shutdown guy and I think that's looking like an area of need, assuming Merrill doesn't return. Cholowski = Kindl until/unless he proves otherwise. Djoos was ultra-sheltered this season and may or may not be returning. DeKeyser is DeKeyser. Lindstrom's a RH shot and he hasn't impressed me. Johansson's 20 and he's coming over from the SHL. I want next season's team to be more skilled and more dynamic than the team we iced this season, and I agree that we should be trying to get a better class of player in our top roles. I just figure we're at least another year away from that being a legit thing with our team. So let's get Kulikov and Nikita Zadorov.

Post exodus letsgowings, emancipated from the fair weather fans is more real, more fun and I suspect a safer place for hockey discourse. The site malfunctions are the only regrettable feature here.

A healthy DDK, with no lingering issues, is someone I wouldn´t mind having on the team, but unfortunately he is never really healthy. So take a pick for him at next years deadline, if you get one, and let him go.

For me, it isn't about the lottery. Just want the Wings to get a as high draft pick as possible. Who knows who the best prospect is in this draft. Power is ranked 1OA because he is considered the safest pick by analysts.

No. Shanny was way better offensively, a better fighter, and didn't throw the cheap shots that Wilson does. That's an insult to Shanny.

I definitely see what you are saying, but when your friend is the best option out there, you are doing a disservice to the team by not hiring him. This isnt a situation where Yzerman is hiring a no name to coach simply because they are friends.

I hope so, but just like any other business venture, you shouldn't hire your friends or family to do the job because one day you will have to fire them. Of course, there probably isn't anyone that isn't or hasn't been a friend to Yzerman. I'm still holding out hope on Larionov. Currently he is HC of the Russian junior team.
