It is in our terms of service, and part of your agreement to post on this site. No politics. Period. No Trump jokes, no calling each other liberals, the only thing far right that should be discussed is the position of a winger. This is a strict policy that will be enforced after this warning. We want no part of it here, at all, anywhere. Stick to hockey and non-political discussion, this will be strictly enforced going forward. Keep it entirely off of these forums. Thank you.

Well they finally fired Tom Anastos last year, that was a step in the right direction. The new coach, Cole, is a former Griffins player and Griffins coach, and also coached the U.S. under 17s/under 18s. Hopefully he can get a program together. MSU hockey has been super sad post Ron Mason. Who was the last decent player they turned out? Torey Krug? Shame.

I swear to God some of the player valuations around here are insane. I wish we were all NHL general managers. I'd fleece you fools daily. I'd start by trading Jacob Trouba to KRS for whatever haul he would gladly part with, and then laugh all the way to the bank as Trouba's already modest offense dried up completely in Detroit. I'd trade Faulk to Jonas for Mantha and Detroit's 1st (likely to be a lottery pick no less). I'm not sure what I'd trade for Nyquist and AA, but given that half of LGW are willing to part with them for peanuts I suspect I'd win that one too.

Makes sense. His mother needs him more than we do. Never, EVER did I think I'd be saying this, but Thank You Chris Chelios for all you've done for our organization! ...and the infamous interview in January 1999. It's 17:00 minutes long, but skip to 10:00 and listen through 11:00ish to hear the "Never play for Detroit, that's how much I hate them..." Low and behold, two months later...

Haha I know, and I'm okay with it. At least it's something to talk about in a pretty boring offseason... I'd probably be better off talking to my 5 year old niece though... Pretty sure she has more common sense / hockey knowledge than JM... Faulk has played for one NHL team. What's your point? He's never had the opportunity to play for any other team. He was drafted by Carolina in 2010, signed his entry level contract the following season, and made the Canes out of camp. Three years later he became an RFA and signed a six year contract which would take him into UFA status for the first time in 2020. He has never had the opportunity to test the open market, and the fact that he will be one of the top defenders available, I'd say the chances of him doing so is rather high. You can't seriously think walking as a first time UFA can be compared to not holding out as an RFA or demanding a trade... I didn't say he doesn't want to be in Detroit, I'm saying regardless of where he is two years from now, I think he'll hit free agency (unless he's traded to a legit contender that can afford to keep him). If / when he does hit the open market, he'll have a lot of things to consider. One being money, which I'm sure we could afford to pay him. Two, location / history, and we have a brand new state of the art facility and a rich history that could entice him. And three, and this is the biggest one in my mind, going to a contender, and I doubt we'll be viewed as a true contender by then... If we are, why not just go after him two years from now? We will not contend in the next two years, so why go after a player that has an expiring contract in that time? It makes zero sense... For the same reason, I have no interest in going after Erik Karlsson or any pending free agent... If you still don't understand why trading significant pieces for a soon to be free agent is a terrible idea for a rebuilding team, I'm not sure what else to say...

"What we always wanted" is not an accurate quote. My quote was "the Darren Helm we always wanted". I meant that as a side comment to disparage Darren Helm and nothing more. I wholly disagree about our defense and forward group. The forward group has Larkin, Mantha, AA, and Bertuzzi, 4 young bright spots, 2 of which will probably be core players on this coming seasons roster. The defense has no one even close to this at this point in time. AA had 17 assists last year and a large amount of his goals came on the breakaway. If you think his playmaking and scoring in the cycle is where it needs to be, then we can agree to disagree. Again, I think AA v. Nyquist is a real s***ty comparison not worth exploring. At this point in time that's where he's slotted. He's gotta take the next step up. I'm optimistic about him, I think he can.

Let's hope arbitration rewards him with a huge contract. With Buff at 7.6, Myers at 5.5, and Kulikov at 4.5, they can't afford that kind of cap hit considering they have Scheifele, Ehlers, and Hellbucyk at 6+, Wheeler and Little at 5+, and Perreault at 4+. Laine will be getting a big payday eventually too.

Holy lowballs Batman! 4mil might be an insult. Granted, 7 mil is steep, but Brendan Smith makes 4.25...in the minors. Trouba is worth way more than that. I would go as high as 4 years at 6 mil AAV, but I think some where in the 5.25 to 5.5 range is more likely. Buff is at 7.6, and Myers makes 5.5.

Yikes, I know you start low and come to a agreement, but I think $4M is an insult to Trouba. IMO not a very good way to treat one of your best D. Just trade him to us already!

Politics are 100% strictly forbidden from these forums. There is no exception. From this point forward, and any future threads, any mention of the president, any politics, liberals, republics, democrats, etc will result in a warning. Nothing made this place more toxic than before we had the ban on politics, and it has improved this place drastically. This is getting out of hand, respect the site and the rules and end political discussion here and now.

No the vast majority of the voters, knowingly voted for a guy that's a racist bigot which makes them promoters of racism and hate. You represent who you vote.
