Awesome win. PP definitely needs some changing though. They're essentially killing their own pp by playing catch in the perimeter for a full minute. Need to start shooting low and winning the rebounds with numbers or something.

I can't believe how much Montreal really sucks without Price.

It amazes me. 4 losses in a row.

Everbody seemed to know it except Montreal.

Everyone on LGW that was super pissy mode approx a month ago?

Yep......this thread is a perfect example. We just won a very important divisional game and this thread come 11pm is 10 pages. 1 month ago after a loss, it would be 20 pages by now.

Montreal was on 2nd game of 2 in 2. We took advantage.

It was their 2nd game in 2 days, but it was also their 2nd game in 5 days. As professional athletes, this should not have much of an effect.

Great to see a good game out of Helm. The one thing he's always had is insane speed, and both of those goals came out of that. No fancy tricks, just outskate everyone and throw it past the goalie before he knows what's going on. We need more of that please.

It was a real bet though... At least I thought it was

I remember the bet. It's feel like it's probably in that Bold predictions thread we had if you want to find it.

One of my predictions was that we'd finish above the Habs. I wasn't feeling so good about that after the first dozen games haha. I do still think it's doable. I wouldn't be worried about their team at all if it weren't for price.

Yay Wings Win in Regulation!!!

Just finished watching the game and ...oh boy! what a great game. Helm was a beast from the start, and after the first I thought he got a bit quiet, but then started seeing him more and more and just like that, Boom! his second goal. Loved how the Joe came alive and there was the LGRW! and Go Habs Go! chants. Also good to see the PP "redeem" itself after some horrible shifts. Really fun hockey to watch.

...Anyone attending tomorrow's game that can get me one of those cool bomber hats? ;)

I'm starting to come around to Blshill's line strategies. If we could get the second line to play with some consistency we have three lines that could potentially carry the scoring for stretches of games when others go cold... 4 guys with 10 goals already

I agree. I was against Blash's lines as well, but It seems to be working. I was especially against the Rich-Dat-Helm line because I thought it wasted Datsyuk. But if you think about how Datsyuk has been struggling since coming back, you can think of it as our 3rd line filled players that have struggled to get going offensively. If datsyuk starts looking like his usual self then maybe stick a finisher with him, but I like how he fits with Helm and the other 2 lines have been scoring. The best case scenario is if that combo starts scoring without any changes.

Excellent win over the divisional leader, doesn't get much better than that.

Think I'll rewatch this game when I have the time, we looked crisper in the offensive zone, wanna see whatupwiththat. But first I have a lecture, and then 4 hours of hockey.

Cannot overstate how significant a win that is. The team they're chasing and beat them in regulation, and the teams they're trying to stay ahead of losing in regulation. Didn't care for the way they played that situation at the end. It's 5 on 5. Get the en. Can say we will need a little more grit for a playoff run. Just don't see our D as it stands making a case for a long run. Smith and Ericsson are just not athletic enough for me.

Amen looking at standings still no room to breath for anyone right now.

Habs 41 30 games played

Wings 37 29 games played

Sens 35 29 games played

Bruins 33 27 games played ...need these 2 games in hand be losses....!!

Boys need to keep pressing need the win tonight in regulation!

I was at last night's game. We should thank the hockey gods for those two points. The passing was horrendous. I lost count of how many times we passed it right to the Habs. What I think has improved lately is moving their feet. They're cycling a little better instead of claiming a spot in the zone and keeping it. Still not great at it, but improvement nonetheless.

I hate the trap. Hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE it.

And there were a ton of Habs fans there. Every one that we encountered was very cool. And they helped get a fairly dead crowd to make some noise.

Turns out forcing people to create chemistry works.

Yeah - Wings looked sloppy, and there were the usual odd man rushes.

We're lucky the Habs have a few of their top players on IR...Would've been a different game otherwise.

Those odd man rushes and breakaways killed us in the playoffs last year. Can't give up that many breakaways and win very often. Mrazek bailed the team out yesterday.
