#2381656 4/7 GDT : Blues 1 at Red Wings 0

Don't forget, they said Halloran got to handpick the officiating team for his 1000th game. ;)

Millions of fans know what kind of ref he is, yet the NHL appears to be clueless; why does that man still have a job?  I could do a better job, and I'm no McCreary.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, St. Louis is vastly improved, but must we all drool?  Why can't we have Canadian announcers for American games?  They'd be neutral at least.

Kindl wants his wallet back after that mugging.

Very true. Maybe some of the young D we have in the pipeline will come close to matching that someday. Does Raffy still have any role in the organization? He might make a great "consultant" in GR at times.

No word on what Rafalski's doing these days - I would assume he doesn't really have a role with the Wings because he wasn't at the presser this morning, but other retired Wings with roles in the organization were.

Is it me or is Pierre talking about all sorts of things besides the game?  I'm not sure what's worse - his comments on the game or him not talking about the game.

No, it's not just you; however, once Gary came to the podium I discovered I was thankful I couldn't hear.

#2380836 Ilitch is being cheap with the Wings now that the Tigers are good.

Posted by vladdy16 on 05 April 2013 - 04:10 PM

The first thought that went through my head when I read the topic title was "What an ungrateful ******* ***** ** ****."  First, the money that was earmarked for certain players was never necessary; second, there were no viable back up plans; third, the cap was expected to shrink.  Spending up to the cap at that point would have put us in a bad salary dump position; why sign some players only to have to buy them or others out?

Just because the Wings are going through a few speed bumps is no reason to turn on the man who lost millions of his own money for YEARS to keep this team here; spent millions of his own dollars to sign the best talent available and has given back more to his players and this town than any other NHL owner.  I think you owe Mr. I an abject apology.

"Hey, Hey, Hockeytown."

#2377503 Crosby left the game after puck to the face

Posted by vladdy16 on 31 March 2013 - 07:53 PM

I use to work for an Oral Surgeon.

Broken jaw = at least 6 weeks out.

At least.

HEY SID BEST OF LUCK SUCKING YOUR FOOD THROUGH A STRAW FOR SIX WEEKS

HAHAHHAHAHAHHA

Impeccable source: Crosby 4-6 wks. Will play in May.

I know the cliche "it's lame to wish injury on any player", but I'm seriously ecstatic that this happened. Pens getting burned on by Hockey gods for trying to buy their way into the title. They ain't winning s*** with Crosby not at 100%

:hysterical:  :hysterical:  :hysterical:  :hysterical:  :hysterical:  :hysterical:

ice cold, man. I hope Cooke joins him

So what are the two of you going to do if karma turns out to be the ***** she's purported to be?

#2376245 Iginla Traded to Pittsburgh

Posted by vladdy16 on 29 March 2013 - 08:57 PM

No, Calgary had a deal in place with Boston, Calgary thought they were trading him there and Boston thought they were getting him.  Iginla chose Pittsburgh instead, it was that simple and was communicated clearly as such straight from Calgary GM and Boston GM.

I wasn't there so I don't know, but if true, this was a real punk move on Iginla's part.  I wouldn't be surprised in the least, though. I really have no respect for the guy.  All the more reason to root for Boston now, especially when they play the Pens. (Yeah, like there wasn't reason enough already)

#2375922 Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

So white smoke means DeKeyser picked a team and black smoke means 6 more weeks of winter?

#2375008 Iginla Traded to Pittsburgh

Good move for the Pens, not such a good move for us.  I'm glad, glad I tell you, that we didn't score Iginla.  I can't stand that SOB, and the price was too damn high to get him anyway.

I think people are so frustrated with the lack of splashy moves on the part of Holland that each time some serviceable player goes elsewhere, it just makes them foam at the mouth that much more.

Iginla is not a big loss to us - helpful, probably, but not a big loss.  The reason it's a bad move for us is because we will be facing a pretty well-stacked team consistently starting next year.  While I agree that the Wings have been impressive all things considered, no one can deny that we need to improve in some areas, and PDQ.

I'm petitioning Matt to bring Murph in as LGW's next Mod.

Would that not be freakin' AWESOME?

All right, folks, this is a game day thread, not a "respond to the member who only shows up when Minny actually does something" thread.

His hit was worse than Perry's. Just proving a point about the arrogance around here.

And that sledgehammer you're using is winning you friends and serious internet cool points.

#2363258 Ryan O'Reilly signs offer sheet with Calgary, Avs match

Posted by vladdy16 on 01 March 2013 - 02:02 PM

Apparently O'Reilly would have had to pass through waivers before joining the Flames.

So this was basically the dumbest move ever by a GM.

Brian Burke and Garth Snow would like to talk to you.
