I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole-hill in this situation, but nothing gets under my skin like a spot-picking sucker puncher. At the end of Game 4, 5 seconds left, Clowe clocks Abdelkader with several gloved punches right off the draw, then proceeds to lay into him with more as the clueless linesman tries to tie up Abdelkader. This is the kind of crap that I believe has no place in the game of hockey and should be cracked down on. I'm pro fighting, pro nastiness, but this premeditated cheapshot crap is infuriating. Both players got double minors for roughing on the scorecard and that was that. The way I see it, that is the exact spirit of the "instigator in the last minutes equals automatic suspension" rule (the one conveniently overrided in 2009 when Malkin jumped Z). And then I'm reading an article about Lidstrom on MLive and I see this in the notes: So the intent to goon was there in a losing effort due to frustration, he would have liked to go after one of our top two defensemen but he ended up having to settle on Abdelkader. Actually, I think there's a very, very good chance that a empirical study of when penalties are called and to which team would show that within the 3rd period way more are called against the winning team. This would prove the "catch-up" rule.

Holmstrom is a liability out there, even on the PP. He played 10:57 tonight, and I don't think he had more than 1 or 2 shifts in the last period. Is he scratched on Sunday, not sure, but I would. Franzen clearly isn't healthy, but he did have some chances tonight. How he didn't score late in the third with a virtual empty net is beyond me. Filppula - Datsyuk - Franzen, as far as I'm concerned, HAS TO STAY TOGETHER. Look at all the chances they created deep in the 3rd when they finally reunited? It's clear Dats and Flip have chemistry, they always have, so keep them together. Stop having Homer drag Dats down. I'd play Mursak instead of Hudler who was terrible tonight, but you probably can't have both Huds and Homer sit out. OR you could sit Draper (played only 07:05 tonight) and have Modano centre the 4th line. So my line-up would be... Filppula - Datsyuk - Franzen Cleary - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Abdelkader - Helm - Eaves Hudler - Draper/Modano - Mursak

Well, Clowe sure got his money 's worth for only a double minor. He wished it was Kronwall? Why because he his upset that Kronner LEGALLY destroyed "The Murderer"? I say put a nice cross check to Clowe's throat if the game gets out of hand, or how about a home-run swing to the back of his neck? Or a butt end to his face? Sucker punch? No, but it was his intent to goon it up and he did FIGHT. Dropping gloves and landing punches is not roughing, it's fighting. Just another example of the refs not having the BALLS to make the right call and the NHL not having the BALLS to impose the correct discipline. Same Malkin, the refs made the right call, THEN rescinded the call so the NHL would not have to suspend him. I have no doubt that a call was made by the NHL to rescind the instigator. Whatever, it's all under the bridge, but it goes to show how inconsistent the officiating is in the NHL... Hey Clowe, how about you line up across from me for one face off? The only person I'm upset with is the ref for grabbing Abby while Clowe continued to throw punches. Clowe would beat Abby 9/10 times, but I'd rather them fight fair instead of the ref getting involved.

I think the win last night will spur them on more than the blow-out last year. You could see it in their body language when SJ tied it 3-3. It was a look of... Crap we need to do something here, and show we're the better team. Then for arguably the first time this series, all lines clicked and Helm finally showed up with what he can do. I think almost throwing game 4 away is going to give them a bigger kick than when they won game 4 incredibly easily

I didn't expect a Cup this year as I posted many times that this team couldn't beat San Jose or Vancouver if they drew them and lone behold they drew the hated Sharks e.g. our daddies! I would not be this angry with the team if they had won in 2009 when I was at the Joe for game 7 as then I would have just retired into the sunset after watching them hoist the cup but it didn't go that way as all I have are 4 Cups that I saw them win on TV and not live so that is why I am bitching about! What do you want us to say thanks guys for another early exit? Or how about thanks for the 2 blown 3rd period leads that cost this team a 2-1 series lead? Fans have a right to be mad at the team b/c we demand results and when you lose games that you should of won it makes it more difficult to swallow!

Hi all. I am not much on posting but I am a fantastic lurker. This is usually the first place I come after a hard day at the office. There is nothing better than reading new posts on the Boys. I love the bracelet idea so I borrowed it. I used a red crystal for every goal scored. I separate the scores with a white/clear crystal when they win and a black crystal for win they lose...DEMMIT!!!! Each series will have a slightly different design to keep them all straight. This has been so much fun. Especially since I live in Chicagoland and am the lone Red Wing fan pretty much everywhere I go. I have really enjoyed letting my friends know I am adding a new bracelet while the Hawks are adding another bag tag to their golf clubs! Thanks for all the fun.

Maybe we should establish ourselves as the Miami Heat of the NHL and inform both that we'll be signing them if they become UFA's.

Homer is second on the team in scoring behind only Datsyuk in the playoffs. I admire his guts to go to the "HARD" areas of the game and wish Franzen had even half of the courage that Homer has displayed over the years. Yes he is getting old and maybe this will be his last season but I for one will really miss him when we no longer have the BEST net front MAN in the game.

they were a bit more $ than I had planned on spending....but they were just so pretty! haha blah, come on Wings, I need more red!!! I ended up having to get new cord when I put on the last bead, it wouldnt go through the bead, it was all soft and squishy or something....weird
