I don't see the Wings landing Iginla, because Holland is the type of GM to look at the future just as much as the present. He won't pay a whole lot for Iggy knowing he's well into the second half of his career and likely won't provide much for the Wings in the coming seasons. Other teams will easily outbid us wanting to win today, including some that Iginla will want to play for, expecting they have a chance at a Cup. Parise is a guy I can see Holland going all out for. We have the capspace, we have the prospects, we have the picks, and this guy can be a cornerstone for years to come. I don't know that we have a top three forward in our talent pool in Grand Rapids or elsewhere. Parise may be able to buy Holland a couple extra years once Dats and Z get into the end of their careers, which will be all the more reason to pull the trigger on this one.

Yea for real. Talk about right place right time. I hope he stays because he is definitely solid for his price and I couldn't care less if he fights anymore.

The "C" isn't just about the being the best player on the team, it's also about the most capable to lead and unfortunately for Pasha, the language barrier HAS to factor in there as well for communicating with refs, press events, team meetings, etc... when the unthinkable happens, the new captain will STILL be Z and if it's not, there's a better chance it would be Kronwall than Dats...

Reports are Bobby Ryan is being shopped, he would be pretty good to have but lets face it, super pipe dream.

My problem....I'm not willing to talk about Vezina worthiness with a guy who's only played 12 games so far. Not really into discussing it for guys that played 20 games either.

I apologize if I'm kinda behind on this, but what was Boudreau's locker room speech on 24/7? What was so bad/controversial about it? Also, Ovechkin comes off as a little kid that pitches a s*** fit if he doesn't get his every wish. He's got unbelievable skill, but he seems like a little whiny prick. I know the star player always wins these kind of battles, but I don't place the blame completely on Bruce. Sure, you've got to demand respect and earn the respect of your team, but when there are dickheads like Ovechkin and Semin who float around and play hard when they feel like it, its got to be difficult.

on the other hand, I feel bad for this guy who became the scapegoat. it's not like you see him stand and do nothing on the ice...

I disagree. Cayer and Callahan wont have to put up that much in the way of points to make the NHL team. Both can skate like the wind, throw huge hits and both can fight (assuming on Cayer but Its a safe bet I think). If they bring that energy every shift, they look great on the fourth line, ala Dallas Drake. He only had like 6 points I think in 08 but still played his bag off every shift and threw his weight. If they can PK well and get 10-15 points a year while being huge physical tough guys, the wings will give them a shot. The wings current fourth liners are only good for about 20 points a year anyways, without really providing anything else

The cross checks were a hell of a lot more violent than that bump to the face. If he did that to a Wing I'd call him a *****, but you see the s***s of the world in the NHL do this every single game to Holmstrom and we (LGW) never make threads about it. The "Head shot" was only technically a headshot because HWSNBM gave a pop shot to the face of the other player. Face-washes do more damage than a push of the face with a forearm.

Crosby is a hypocrite on this one. Like I said in the other thread, I understand that Foligno had run into Fleury a few times. But there are other ways to respond to that then throwing an elbow and a butt end. You turn around and square up. I'm betting this didn't even get reviewed. As I also said in the other thread, Cherry called out Crosby for this elbow and basically said what goes around comes around. Sid is a super talent, but continues to come off like a spoiled little *****. Here's Crosby's response.
