I don't think the issue is with him drinking, all NHL players drink. The issue is him getting black out drunk in settings like that. If you are the front office of an organization, those are not the situations you want your players to be. -
3 points1. I like our team 2. When we were healthy, we were 1st overall and then injuries hit and we could not recover 3. We explored the market and had some interest in some of the UFAs but felt the prices were too high 4. I feel that Homer still has some gas left in the tank and that bringing him back for another season is the right thing to do 5. We feel that we have some kids who are ready to take that next step and be bigger factors in the success of our team 6. Having Kyle Quincey for a full season should benfit hiim and the Detroit Red Wings 7. It is a very tough league right now and we got over 100 points which is nothing to sneeze at 8. There is not much separating 15th from 1st in the West. 9. We have some cap space to use and we will wait until the trade deadline to see what our options are 10. We will look for ways to improve our hockey club but it has to make sense.

As to what actually happened that weekend, it'll probably be a lot of rumors and stories with little proof. One thing is for certain though, Kane is a douchebag. I get that he's 23 and rich and having fun, but there's plenty of ways to go out and drink and have a good time without announcing to the world "I'm Patrick Kane!!" every step of the way. -

I am not sure where the misunderstanding came from, but Ryan Suter is from Madison, Wisconsin. He played two years in Ann Arbor, MI. for the US National Development Under 18 team and one yr for the Badgers before reporting to Nashville. He has never played youth hockey in Minnesota. And considering his time in Ann Arbor, and the lack of NHL in Wisconsin, signing in Detroit would be more of a homecoming than Minnesota. Edit: Wow, negged? So, ok, Minnesota will be a homecoming then, even though he has never played there or lived there...I plan on having a homecoming in Hawaii next week. Jack ass... -

The only positive of bringing back Holmstrom is that my Red Wing lineup in my Sega Genesis games will remain somewhat relevant. -

11. The way the league is today, if you want to be competitive, every player on your roster needs to be able to play the game. So, while I recognize that maybe we could, you know, go for the tough guy signing that everyone says we need, my question is, Can he play the game? Especially with our puck-possession system, he has to be able to play good minutes and really contribute. -

All offer sheets do are... 1. Piss off other GM's 2. Negotiate a contract for the team which is trying to sign the player because they are almost alwats matched. 3. Make all hockey fans have to watch Brian Burke whine his ass off again to the media about how it is not fair for teams do be able to do this. Given Poile and Holmgren's past trade history, I am expecting Suter's rights to be traded to the Flyers before July 1st. However this does not mean Suter will sign a contract with them. I still think Detroit has a good chance of signing Suter even if the Flyers or another team secures his rights. He is still a UFA on July 1st and is fair game for all teams. -

Package? What is this, Hossa/Kopecky? Just say no to Holmstrom, its time to go. Sign Homer at the expense of who? Typical ******* Holland. Guess we can forget Parise and look forward to Samuelsson.....that better not be the plan! -

Nice translation. He'll get a Maltby contract. Sign him. Let him come to camp for one more time to hang with the guys, smile, sign autographs. If he's better than the other guys, he gets the job. If not, he rides off with our best wishes. It's a win for him since he gets the chance. It's a win for the Wings because he'll be there to push the kids and provide competition. It's a win for us cuz we get more options and maybe a funny interview or two. -

Mr Illitch, please step forward and slap Kenny and tell him to buck up and face realitiy or get a new job. This loyalty thing is gunna bite us on the arse before long if it hasnt already begun to do so. hopefully Homer makes sense of it all and saves holland actually making a tough decision that he is incapable of doing. -

Close to what I would want. I would rather sign Konopka over Gaustad, though. Konopka's also very good on faceoffs (maybe even a bit better). And while he's 5 inches shorter, he's still more physical and can keep the flies off better. Most importantly, Konopka should be much cheaper and cost under $1.5M. I think Gaustad's been horribly overrated lately and is bound to be overpaid this summer. -

1 pointI would submit that Bettman is also the biggest reason we still have fighting in the game and we don't have shootouts in playoff overtime. You know the NBCs of the world would love to not dedicate so much extra prime network time to a triple OT, but Bettman is a traditionalist in many ways. I'm sure that conversation already happened and Bettman wasn't having any of it. As far as fighting goes there are individuals and groups that are actively trying to eliminate it from the game but Bettman has consistently defended it on record.

they are taking it too far in my opinion. Why not to bring Jarnkrock, Tatar, Nyquist??? I was laughing at people claiming we are too old and slow in the past, but now we are indeed too slow to actually compete with teams like Nashville, Phoenix, etc. -

exactly. Even a rumor of something like that coming out is not good for Kane or his team. Like I said, he could still go out and drink and have a good time but do it in a way it doesn't reflect poorly on him or the organization that is paying him $6+ mill a year. -

The Senators can and will simply take Karlsson to salary arbitration if he does not accept their qualifying offer. As such, he will not be eligible to receive an offer sheet. Gagner scored 47 points last season, yes. 11 of those came in a two-game span, so let's just call it 36. Whatever the case, Gagner has not developed to the Oilers' expectations. He is inconsistent and frequently lazy. Furthermore, he is an RFA, and giving up picks for him (and he'd almost certainly cost at least $2.75m) would not be worth it. Too, the Oilers can simply take him to arbitration if they wish. On top of this, he doesn't score goals. He just had his best-ever goalscoring season in the NHL, and this was only 18 goals; and five of those game in a two-game span. And he's the same size as Hudler is. Radulov is a douchebag. There's no other way of putting it. And he, as with the other two, is an RFA, which would necessitate giving up picks. No thanks on both counts. I'd be wary of having this guy on the team even were he a UFA. -

1 pointImagine my disappointment when I opened the link expecting to see Gary Bettman going on and on and on about the historic significance of the "Original 12". I was fully prepared to scream bloody murder because the OP had led me to believe that Bettman was TOUTING the "Original 12" as opposed to just explaining that St. Louis was indeed one of the original twelve teams and then returning to the topic at hand, the Blues new ownership. When it comes to Bettman's shenanigans it's always best to be prepared, so while I can't scream bloody murder as planned, I'm always ready (as is the OP) to cry wolf over any of Gary's various infractions and disgraces. So I'm putting it on notice, if Gary Bettman doesn't right this wrong immediately, I'm going to start a jihad against him. And the only way he can fix this eggregious folly is to begin TOUTING a new concept: the "Unoriginal 24". The resulting t-shirts and commercials touting this concept will truly put the rest of those pansy assed teams in their place for good!
