    Bring Back The Bruise Bros

    Semin

He'll probably go to Pittsburgh, Crosby has made it clear he needs some Semen in his life.

    Quincey files for arbitration

Come on people.he's been here like 20 games or so and we are throwing him under the bus already. I'm not saying he's going to be a stud, but definitely want to see him playing more to judge him.

Lets let this thread go the way of the Suter thread...disappear. We no longer care about nor have any interest in Zach or Ryan...they turned us away and they are now public enemy #1 & #1a...cannot wait for a Parise Kronwalling!

    Quincey files for arbitration

It's a business decision, Quincey holds must of the power right now, he knows the Red Wings need defensemen, and he knows they have plenty of money. Not a big deal, just his agent looking out for his player's best interest.

    Semin

Are we sure that semin isn't from the twin cities and has always wanted to play with suter and parise?

Nash is worth whatever we need to give up.

Probably will go done as the most important signing off the offseason for the Wings. Now whether that's a good or bad thing....I'll let you determine that for yourself.

I'd take Semin for 4 years 20 million. Very fair for a player with 40 goal potential.

if we give him 4 years at a low cap hit we can at least trade him to like dallas or florida at some point. we didn't give up assets for him. cap space isn't going anywhere else at this point.

The purpose of the salary cap was to encourage parity. It succeeded in this for a few seasons. Now it is ruining the NHL. The cap is giant, and contracts have become absurdly inflated as a result. Teams almost always have the cap space to re-sign their UFAs, so few big-name players ever hit the open market; as a result, those who do go to the open market are given gigantic, ridiculous contracts. What's more, the low-budget teams--those teams to whom the cap was meant to give a legitimate shot at winning--must now dole out ridiculous contracts to remain above the salary floor. Hilarious. This all needs to be dealt with in the CBA. The cap needs to be fixed or reduced, and contract length needs to be limited. I think that eight years is a decent number, or perhaps less.

Again, maybe with the exception of White, it didn't sound to me like he's calling anyone out. That implies that they have tried and failed and are getting taken to task for it. It sounded more like a statement of what will be required of the Wings defense this coming year to make up for the loss of Lidstrom and Stuart. Not any slam on any of the defensemen. Honestly I don't think his season being a complete success has anything to do with points. Sure it'd be great if he put up 30, but that's not going to make or break his season. He needs to continue to be a force on the PK, play solid even strength minutes, and knock the hell out of guys anytime they're around the net or in the corners. If he does that, I consider his season a success.

    Quincey files for arbitration

Everyone sees arbitration and labels the player as a villain, but in a lot of cases arbitration is actually a positive. Like others have said, I'm pretty sure it means he's locked into the Wings now. Once arbitration is submitted he is saying he will agree to play with us (or go overseas) for whatever the arbitrator says which could wind up being less than he wants. He just wants to make a case for a higher salary. It's his way of saying he wants to play for us but wants more money. Not quite as douchey as holding up the team in negotiations forever and then bolting for big money elsewhere. And like others have said, Quincey just needs time to adapt. I doubt he'll meet his full potential anytime soon, if ever, but he's still a serviceable #4. And as for Abdelkader not filing, it's probably because he and Holland wrapping up a deal and aren't far apart in what each side is asking for.

I know it takes a good player to get a good player back but really hoping that Flip is not part of the package, nor Helm, nor Abelkader.

    Semin

HockeyyInsiderr is a complete and total fraud. He has absolutely zero sources other than s*** he makes up in his own head or things that were already reported on. No one give that douchebag the time of day. As for Semin, I think it's a must that we sign him

The dust may be settling on the UFA frenzy but it's just beginning on the CBA front. What's really going to be fun is listening to the owners ***** & moan about rising expenses due to players salaries while they completely ignore the fact that they're the ones who are handing out $5m+ contracts to the likes of Denis Widemans & Matt Carles and dropping $24-26m in salary & bonus each to Suter & Parise over a 12 month period.

    1. Kenny wasn't wise by not signing them. They chose to go to the Wild. Kenny would have paid those contracts too. 2. The Wings had Lidstrom over the last 20 years, and Ken Holland took over after they already had rebuilt the train wreck that was the 1980s. 3. Our situation has improved from last year how? Last year we signed Ian White and had Lidstrom and Stuart still. 'Splain yourself. 4. Flip hasn't done anything of note. He can be traded to teams that think he is a somebody though, I'll give you that. 5. 100% correct on Brunner. He could be a difference maker or the next Fabian Brunnstrom. We'll see. 6. Smith is unproven. He will get his chance this season. +/- is a useless stat for players not getting ample minutes. 7. Ericsson will definitely get more ice time. He is our #3 defenseman and better pay for himself or he could be gone as well (although there aren't that many GMs who would take that ridiculous contract, except maybe the Wild). 8. F*ck the Leafs.

    My 2013 Roster...

Problems with your roster: #1 Yandle will not come cheap, think Smith+++ #2 Semin will not sign for under 6 million and he will want more years #3 Suter is looking like a 50/50 shot at best right now
