I saw this in Facebook earlier. Reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite haha.

Yup. Cleary was great for us. But his skill set has declined and while he still puts up points, I don't feel its an accurate reflection of what he can do. He wasn't one of our best players in the playoffs, yet he had ten points. I don't know how he got those points because he was never an impact player this year. He'd be good on the fourth line but not as a top 6 guy.

Really? I agree that he doesn't care about the logo on his jersey, but his proffesionalism and off-ice work ethic are well known. At 41 he just scored 16 goals in 45 games - more than anyone on the Wings btw. More than Franzen, more than Brunner, more than Z. You can't do that with a bad attitude.

I don't care if Tatar is a ****** or arrogant or full of himself. The only thing that matters - the ONLY thing - is that he performs on the ice. Everything else is secondary.

I like Brunner, but Tatar will be a fine replacement and make everyone forget about LeBrun.

    Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary

Every day I login hoping to see the announcement that Cleary has signed somewhere else...hopefully it's only a matter of time now.

"Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk is simply amazing to watch. With his campers looking on, he did a little ice dancing to the Village People classic "YMCA." http://www.foxsportsdetroit.com/nhl/detroit-red-wings/story/Now-Dats-funny?blockID=923667&feedID=3706

You say "as a kid" as if he's reached some form of pre-adulthood. I don't think his balls have dropped yet but then again I'm not entirely convinced he's male. It's just one of those "unwritten rules" you just don't do, like letting a flag touch the ground.

While I don't agree with Axe's example (or Axe in general, sorry bud ) I am going to state an unpopular opinion: I don't like Tatar. Don't know why. Can't put my finger on it. He seems kind of...douchey. And I have nothing to back that up. But given the choice between Goose and Tatar, I'll choose Goose every time. So while a lot of you here see Tatar as a serviceable replacement for Brunner--even an upgrade--I just can't bring myself to agree even though logically I know you may be right. Just a feeling I can't shake, but I'd rather have Brunner. *shrug*

It was his attitude, I bet. When he got to the Wings and scored his first goal, he acted like Yakupov. Im sure they would have preferred that he acted like Datsyuk instead. The Barry Sanders way of scoring always sits well with everyone.

I honestly think they decided last year was a transition year and to try them out which is exactly what they did. Unexpectedly made the playoffs and put up a decent run but left Tatar down because he was there when the Griffins went on their run. Not to mention he was the MVP and potted 16 goals.

That's bleacherreport for ya... I'm out of the loop of why he's hated so much, but the only time I've heard him sing was when he sang Let It Be live during some New York event, and it was awful. Though I'd imagine it'd be hard to sing any song well by McCartney.

    Shootouts

Go with Kronner. He won that one once in like the 83rd round or whatever it was. Dats and Bert for sure. I'll have to see Alfie and Weiss to judge them, but Z isn't fabulous in shootouts, and I can't recall how Mule is. Is he used that rarely, or am I just losing my memory- or maybe repressing bad memories? I'd like to see how Nyquist does, assuming they re-sign him. 3-2-1-0 for points. 3=win. 2=shootout win. 1=shootout loss. 0=loss. My only addition is that to get the loser point, the losers have to go through the bitchslap line before they can go through the handshake line.

    Brunner Contract Talks

I agree with Axe on Quincey, but not on Tootoo. Quincey started bad and finished strong, but once you're a whipping boy around here (and once you're a hometown hero) there's no changing most people's minds. There was ZERO wrong with Quincey's play down the stretch and into the playoffs. Tootoo is another story in my opinion. He was under utilized. I know Bab's had all sorts of quotes about penalty minutes and this and that. But the truth is, both Boston and Chicago dressed at least one guy who was a penalty machine but still brought enough intangibles that they were worth being on the ice. Hell, Abby had 33 PIMs in 12 games. And he didn't score enough to make that worthwhile. Tootoo isn't Boogaard. He didn't play because Babs likes skill more than he likes aggressiveness (in spite of what he says), and once Babs doesn't like a guy it's awfully hard to change his mind. You're not exactly going out on a limb here. He's the highest rated defensive prospect we've got. He's further along the developmental curve mentally, physically, and skill wise than any of our other prospect d-men. Plus, he's projected to have the much higher upside based on his mix of skill and size. It's a little like "gambling" that Mrazek will be a starting goalie, or Mantha a top line forward. The sky would literally have to fall for this to not be true.

I like this lineup better except for one spot which is Letang. He's godawful defensively, and I think that will inevitably damage his starting lineup chances. I think the goaltending order is right on also. I'll toss the hail mary and put Hamonic as a top 6 defender, you heard it here first. Underrated because of where he plays imo but valuable defensively. St. Louis will be on the roster also, there's no reason why he wouldn't make the squad.

It's time - to predict 2014 Team USA

Each country fields the best roster possible. Naturally, this has never included a junior-level goalie. Gibson will not be on the Olympic roster.

Rule 48: not working as planned.

Guys need to pretend that their opponents aren't wearing helmets. If you're actually concerned about giving him a concussion, you're less likely to give him one. They'll happen no matter what- that's the nature of a fast-paced, hard-hitting game- but nothing will lower the total more than the guys remembering that they're hitting a head inside that helmet.

    Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary

Cleary is so bad at hockey it makes me question whether he is generally a bad person or not. He brings nothing to the table, he had a stretch of 4-5 games this whole year where he was worth a damn. edit: I really hope the Avs sign him, I have a friend who is a huge Avs fan and always talks about how terrible he is. I mean Col does need leadership

    The person below me game...

Of course. What else would I listen to my tapes on? I'm not going to go out and buy all the Beatles stuff over AGAIN. I'd have gotten CD's had I planned on doing that. The person below me has sung a solo in public.
