    NHL may rethink Sochi

Are there IKEAs in Russia? From the looks of those rooms, they won't stand a chance against Team USA.

St. Louis deserves it, and it'll probably be his last chance at the olympics.

    Miller vs. Eaves

People act like Miller is the second coming of Kirk Maltby or Mike Keane. Penalty killing my ass. Eaves can do all the things he can, but he's right handed and has an occasional shot.

    So what do we call the 26 - 15 - 21 line?

Two Toms and a Tink. The Future Line. The Fighting Slovaks. ("Fighting" for Sheahan's Notre Dame) The Graduated Griff Line. JST ice (pronounced justice). The Replacement Parts.

Not to be an ass, but...are you high? Re: Orpik - I have a very, very hard time seeing Orpik coming to the Wings. And I don't think he's quite what we need on the back end anyway. I think we need a solid puck-mover, a guy with Real Good offensive instincts. Smith and Kindl have been disappointments, and Quincey has been a train wreck. We're not getting nearly as much offense from the defense as we thought we would. To which someone will probably say, "Yeah, but you like Girardi. He's not an offensive defenseman by any stretch." True enough, but he moves the puck very well, among other things. As for the nuts and bolts of these hypothetical trades, e.g. Edler and Visnovsky - tbh, any solid top-four defenseman is probably going to cost more than we'd ideally like to give up. Edler almost certainly would make us wince, in terms of the return. And Snow could very well say, "Screw off. Visnovsky is essential to our blue line and I had to put my natural charm into overdrive to convince him to play for us. And now this whole Vanek thing is threatening to taint my otherwise perfect legacy. So I'm not giving Lubo up for anything less than a top-six forward, a good defenseman, and a first-round pick." Which wouldn't be worth it. Solid top-four defensemen are so highly coveted these days. Hats off to Gillis for getting Diaz for, basically, a nobody.

    Slava Fetisov Interview

There's nothing wrong with asking people of any income level to donate/give charitably. Demanding or making it mandatory is where it becomes troublesome. Always be wary of those who volunteer to spend other people's money.

Kronwall DeKeyser Visnovsky Ericsson Smith Lashoff I could dig that.

I like how Weiss didn't use his injury as an excuse for his poor play. I almost expected him to lash out on Babcock when he was a regular 4th line center but he kept his mouth shut. I think the whole team knew he was playing with an injury then everyone realized he would need to have surgery because he wasn't cutting it

    Miller vs. Eaves

Gotta go with Miller for his body of work and reliability with the Wings. He's been flat-out our best penalty killer for years. Eaves is eligible for waivers now and I don't think he would clear at this time if exposed. Besides, lots up players raise their game in their contract year. Miller has been consistent for years.

    NHL may rethink Sochi

If only they had some time to plan for this Olympics. I can't believe they told them last week that this is where the games were going to be.

If Cleary, Bertuzzi, and Samuelsson got hurt in camp and never got right, they'd get some benefit of the doubt. They've been healthy, just bad. Weiss gets the benefit of the doubt because he has been hurt all year. It is not speculation, it's documented fact unless you think that either Kahn or the team is lying about it. He's 30 years old and has a history of 50+ point seasons, there's no legitimate reason to think that he won't be productive when he gets back healthy.

The trade deadline aquisition. "The kids stepping up is better than any player we could have gotten at the trade deadline." ^would anyone be surprised?
