Just saw this on youtube, felt it was appropriate on the eve of the playoffs getting going. (Not for us but...whatever) Shawn Burr was a hell of a hitter in the early 90's, and Vladdy was a ******* beast. Damn shame we didn't get to see more of his playoff hits.

    Great article on the Wings.

Don't know if this has already been posted but I just read this great actricle on the wings. Makes me super proud to be a wings fan and a great overall story of how this season how gone. http://grantland.com/features/detroit-red-wings-playoff-streak/

This is awesome. "When all else fails, why NOT support a historic franchise with excellent coaching, solid young player development, and consistently sane management"? Yes: Detroit. No: Philadelphia. Truer words were never spoken.

5 dollars per win and 1 dollar per Tatar goal. 20 dollars per Jimmy shutout

As always, I'm sticking to $10 per Kronwalling. I will also add $1 per goal for our youngsters, including: -Nyquist -Tatar -Jurco -Sheahan -Glendending (MULTIPLIER x2) -Andersson -Dekeyser And just in case these guys get in some games: -Pulkkinen -Ouellet -Sproul

I think our 3rd and 4th lines will provide a spark for us. But with Z out Franzen has to step up. I don't like the way our D matches up but if these kids gain confidence early I like our chances. I am going to say Wings in 7.

According to Bob McKenzie on TSN Radio in Toronto: Has to confirm Holland is nuts now no?

I'd take him in Detroit in a hot second.

I haven't seen as much of the Kings as usual this season, but come playoff time it's a matter of if Quick will elevate his game (which he likely will) and if they'll be able to score goals (which who knows). It's crazy how a team with as much offensive talent as the Kings can go through such scoring droughts. Even it weren't against LA though I'd be rooting against the sharks. Something about putting a marine animal on the front of a jersey seems to lead to more diving. Go Kings!

WTF happened to Amonte? Geez dude, it looks like you just rolled out of bed, had a dozen doughnuts and a gallon of milk....

He would have gotten more on the market. $10 says they try to trade him in the next 2 years.

Also Ericsson was a complete chud before going down with injury. With smith and Kronwall as our #1 pairing we're a hell of a lot more dynamic and threatening and we move the puck up ice a lot better. Smith has been a stand out player for us and I think he will thrive on the big stage and we can have a pairing that are actually a threat to score. Ericsson returning from injury will be nice only because we can replace Lashoff who is terrible with someone that can log a lot of responsible minutes. That's Ericsson game. Either he's locked down defensively or he's running around trying to do too much and not much help on either end of the ice

Usually takes me a game or two into the series to gain inspiration for a new playoff opponent, but here goes: Also, an old standby of mine:

I appreciate the improvement that Q made over this last stretch. He didn't suck as much, and I found myself saying GODDAMMIT QUINCEY much less. And good luck on his journey to another team next season. Wish you all the best Q! Sayonara!

Sorry, as a former SJS season ticket holder, I am SO over their fans and the Sharks in general. GO KINGS

I was really tempted to go with Nyquist (duh) or Zetterberg (duh). But, ultimately, it has to be Kronwall. I don't see how it could be anyone else. He plays the most minutes. He gets the toughest assignments. He's used in all situations. He's first or second on the team in points while being far and away our best, most valuable defenseman and the reason our blue line isn't among the worst in the league. He became The Leader in Z's absence. He only missed a few games. He's adjusted and elevated his game. Through all the ups and downs and injuries and changes, he's been the one great constant.
