I think it's pretty safe to say NY's bandwagon is pretty much groaning under the weight of all the Wings fans that jumped on it last night.

Franzen was the only player on the team I saw put Lucic on his backside, he led all forwards in blocked shots, he had twice as many takeaways than giveaways and set up all kinds of scoring chances that didn't get buried. There was bad too, he took a lot of bad shots, the turnover's he had ended up in our net and he couldn't bury any of the chances he had, but he wasn't close to the worst forward for the Wings during that series.

Nabokov is, like, 70 years old. Ken Holland is so turned on right now.

I get the sense you don't like Franzen. Why the change of heart?

Isn't Blashill's system the same as Babcock's? i keep hearing about how the transition for Nyqvist, Sheahan, Jurco, etc is so smooth partially because the system in place in GR is an emulation of the Red Wings. If Babcock does decide to retire or move on, I would prefer Blashill take over though. He is familiar with what it takes to be successful at every level, and is already well acquainted with the Red Wings' organization, how things are run, personelle, etc.

Yeah, cause Alfie had nothing to do with helping the team through rough patches what so ever. Seriously. It was a compressed schedule due to the olympics, in a tournament where his team made the gold medal game and he was played for insane minutes by his coach. Even Kronwall took a couple weeks to get back into a grove from the same thing. If Alifie wants to play again, you're damn right he is gonna be with the team come fall. And rightfully so. Also, since you're bashing Holland. Why does he not get any credit for drafting the kids, who you give sole credit to for the team making the playoffs? I'm not defending signing Sammy. It was a bad contract. People make mistakes. But at least I can be objective and point out the good and the bad rather than go in with all the blind hate like you are. You hate Holland, We get it. Do you really have to bring it up in every single thread? Why not make a Hate Holland thread so you and other like minded Holland haters could just go bash him and call for his head there? Would make the rest of the threads more enjoyable for a lot of people.

    1. Alfie was a great pickup. If he plays another year here, it will make this team better. 2. The coach and team leadership all wanted Cleary back. Can't solely put that on Holland. He came of being a huge factor in the playoffs the year before. It didn't work out. These things happen. It did not hinder the team in any way in the end. People need to get over this.

Every player makes mistakes. Obviously some more noticeable than others. Datsyuk turned the puck over a few times in the series as well. Do we hate him now to? Face it. Hating on Mule is the hip thing to do right now. Cleary and Sammy haven't been playing, so there had to be someone else to blame for all the teams problems. Franzen worked hard in that series. But because he didn't score, he will be seen as lazy. There has been times in his career he has no doubt not worked hard. These playoffs were NOT one of them.

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

It ended up being a turnover but "lazy"? It was a hard saucer pass, that would have led to a breakaway or at worst a 2 on 1. Krug had to make a great play at the line to knock the puck down or Helm was gone. Even Datsyuk, who was unquestionably our best player made worse passes in the series than that one.

    Tortorella To Be Fired

I think that the Wings should hire him to be the personal motivator for Franzen. Torts is utlra competitive and very demanding and is not afraid to call a player out to the media, unlike the Wings who are always polite regarding Franzen. Imagine if Franzen had to deal with Torts all year, might get his rear end in shape haha. Obviously I am kidding, but this would be quite funny.

The PP sucked while Lidstrom was still here. The problems really did start as soon as McClellan left. Sure, NOW we can see why it sucks but it started sucking way before then. I've got to think it's Renney because the PP isn't structured for the benefit of the current crop of players, and it's too rigid and predictable, which goes back to the coach. And yes, McCrimmon was a terrible defensive coach, too.

I don't get what people expect from Franzen. He's a 60 pt guy and has a $3.95 Million cap hit. He's one of the best bargains in the league! Watch him live, instead of on TV, and you'll appreciate what he brings to the team. FYI, he's not going to throw his weight around, he's had a history of concussion problems. Right, the Wings will have to pay someone else $6 Million or more for 60 pts

I am still trying to figure out who we could get for Franzen's cap number that would be just as good if not better. You know when Vanek signs with a team he is going to ask for $6 million a season at least. If we are going to buy out Franzen, and put plugs into our team, I am sure that wouldn't go over well with the fanbase.

The red wings don't need 3 of their top 6 forwards, or a few of their established D-men. Rebuilding is fun. It's a joke bc what ur suggesting will never happen. Welcome to the red wings.

Franzen isn't getting bought out regardless. When are people going to realize that buying out Tootoo has nothing to do with Mule? Also, Franzen is not this teams problem! He isn't out there costing the Wings games.

Good. Since he really never got a shot with the Red Wings, now I can watch him play elsewhere. I loved to see him in a Wings sweater, even for just a little while. Good luck, Jordin!

I don't get Holland saying he deserves to be an NHL player, but yet he isn't good enough to be on this team? He's acting like he'd be doing him this huge favor. If they wanted to do him a favor, why didn't they give him an honest chance to do what he does on this team? I really didn't understand the signing at the time, but it made even less sense that they signed him, he played the way he has always played, and yet wasn't deemed to be a fit for this team. I think this was one player that Holland and Babcock definitely disagreed on. I wasn't a fan of Tootoo's before, but I appreciate the way he's handled things and hope that he gets a shot on another team.

Ken Holland quote August 31st 2014: Ultimately, we kicked some tires but the price was too steep to bring in a free agent RH defenceman. We feel the return of a more experienced Quincey and Kindl solidifies our backend. The return of a healthy pav and Z gives us all we need and franzen tells me he has been resurged. I traded tatar and 2 conditional 1st round picks for the rights to Chris Chelios, but ultimately I did not kick the tires hard enough and we won't be adding his veteran leadership this season.

    A plea to Holland.

Please for the love of all that is good and holy, get rid of Lashoff and Kindl. If not both then at least one of them. The pairing of Kindl and Lashoff is a goal waiting to happen. We've had amazing success inserting young forwards into the lineup, why not try a defenseman? I don't care if it's Almqvist, or Sproul, or whoever, nor do I care if management thinks they are ready. No one thought Jurco, Glendening, or Sheahen were ready either; and they are doing just fine. So Holland do us all a favor and bring in some fresh young blood.
