Number 9, you know I will take back what I said with Mantha and a few prospects the previous years. The size of the prospects do seem a little bit bigger than previous years. I guess I just wish we'd see this philosophy go over into his trading/free agency practices. Trade for the gritty 3rd liner that will not put up but maybe 20 points in the season but will be huge contributors in the playoffs.(Bickell) I just want more balance and to be more complete of a team. I do love where young guys are at right now as far as Sheahan, Nyquist, Jurco, etc as well as our Griffins. I just feel as though we are a little bit of time and maybe one big trade or FA signing from being cup contenders again. Can't rely on FA and no cap these days. Have to build through draft which does make me feel good watching our griffins play.

F Michael and Bama I sorta disagree with u. I think Holland has tried to draft a new core over the last years... Going after guys like Goose, Tatar, Pulkinen, Almqvist, ironhook, Etc. But once he got those guys he started peppering in size and grit more and more. AKA Bodin, Hudon, Callahan, McKee, Glendening, Mcnulty, Bertuzzi, Wheaton, etc. Sheehan and Jurco are bit gritty and big themselves as well. Holland knows these future Grindy types will compliment his up and coming core. Of course we will always favor soft euros, it's where our best scouts are, but holland isn't dumb. He's not taking them only and he's taking them less now that he has a lot of them. Ok, completely ignore every large or gritty player He's drafted. He's done a lot more than draft those 5 in the grit and size department

I don't mean to diss what we've got on the farm. I just want that top-four guy, who we should've added the moment Lids said goodbye but has instead been put off because something something you can't replace Nick Lidstrom something something there's no hockey store something something a trade requires two teams something something we're not going to move top prospects something something Colaiacovo Quincey something something DeKeyser is lost forever with a broken finger something something Ericsson is lost forever with a broken finger something something...

Franzen for Troy Brouwer. Washington is the perfect fit for Franzen.

I don’t think any intelligent Wings fans actually thinks this. But there are Wings fans that, angrily, will denounce Holland and covet Pittsburgh’s management. Those people need to be reminded of the circumstances that lead to Shero’s current success as a GM.

4th Annual Playoff Money On The Board!

Vladdy as always, thanks for heading the effort up. My rounded up payment in now on the way. Sorry about the delay.

There have definitely been stretches where Franzen hasn't been giving all of his effort. Not gonna stick up for him for that ever. The thing is, even when he is working his ass off but not scoring, he is still accused of floating. He has become that much of a whipping boy that not scoring automatically means he is not trying. I saw a hard working Franzen in the playoffs. He wasn't driving the net as much as he should have, but he was still skating. If he works, I have no issue with him being here. Because even if he isn't scoring, he is responsible in his own end. It is just a matter of having enough scoring depth that the team doesn't absolutely depend on him going into beast mode to win. If the team has that depth, his contract does not hinder the team one bit. Also, his dry spell this season was not nearly as bad as it was the season before last. IF he can avoid a head injury this coming season, I have no doubt he can be a very effective player for the team. It is just a matter of managing expectations of him. Even when Datsyuk came back from a concussion, he was hesitant to get into the dirty areas for a nice while. As someone who has had my bell rung when I was a teen, I can't really fault someone for not getting too involved with the rough stuff. Especially in a professional sport at that level. I still think next season when he is good and healthy again, the coaching staff should park him in front of the net on the PP.

You're forgetting to include Weiss a guy that costs about 5 mil a year and has 4 years left on his contract. I really don't want Legwand back, if he was an actual asset he would have been playing top 6 minutes in the playoffs and not rotting on the wing on line 3. He might not be the perfect answer, as he does tend to float, but the guy knows how to hit the back of the net. My biggest frustration with the Wings offensively is that they have no aim, which leads to unfinished scoring chances. I don't think I've even seen a team miss the net as much as the current team does. On a side note I think Moulson would be the better choice.

Ive been saying since last year to bring up Blashill. He has a very impressive resume he's won every championship of the league he's coached in, knows how to use kids, even spent time as assistant in NHL so he knows what to do. Babcock's time is over, his system doesn't work here anymore, time for some new blood and energy. Blashill knows these kids, he's doing very well with them.

I think it's pretty safe to say NY's bandwagon is pretty much groaning under the weight of all the Wings fans that jumped on it last night.

lol Mrazek is getting so overrated, guy hasn't even played 10 NHL games yet and people magically think he could fix all the problems with this team... Howard and Monster may not be elite but a good defense is much more needed than another unproven goaltender. The first pairing is not good enough making that pairing better automatically improves the whole defense so somone like Letang, Niskanen or - if available - McDonagh should be priority #1
