I was watching the Leafs Sabres game this evening and the camera zoomed in Jimmy D when the commentators were discussing Gordie Howe's stroke. I wonder if he was there to watch any particular player n the ice tonight?

All of you thinking he will never play in Detroit, do you not realize he is signed another 3 years after this year? This conditioning stint is simply to bring him up to game speed so he can contribute to the wings offensively and defensively. They even have samuelsson a shot in his last year. You really think they will bench a $5 million a year player for 4 years? He will be a regular before the end of December like I've said before and it will probably be in November

I was not a big fan on the signing but I never expected this. I know all points and games count especially when a fringe team like the wings but, I'd rather see a 7-10 stint of straight games of him on the top six if he shows nothing it's time to move on and get someone else in his place. I'd much rather see a second line center with more jam physicality and nastiness than weiss

This is good. Many of us suspected his biggest problem is getting comfortable with the system and back up to NHL game speed after not playing for the better part of two years. The AHL gives him this opportunity without compromising the Wings' chances of winning each night. Edit: anything following "From what I gather..." coming from St. James I take as meaning "I'm completely guessing here but don't want to come off as uninformed..."

In all fairness Tatar hasn't really done anything either, or Jurco. The team really isn't doing much offensively. With that said I also wouldn't mind seeing Mantha over Nestrasil. Though I don't know if they'd bring Mantha up to play 3rd line.

Why not? he has done nothing so far, and hope mantha takes his spot sooner rather than later, or really any of our top prospects

Great news. Weiss clearly still wasn't 100%. Maybe he's finally getting there now. Hopefully he an get in some good games down in Grand Rapids to get himself ready for the rest of the season with the Wings. I still think he will be a decent second line center for us by Christmas time. I just don't look forward to after his first game with the Griffins, people check the stat sheet, hoping he did bad of course, so they can come back here to say HAH Weiss had zero points and was a -1. He sucks. Trade him for a bag of pucks. Oh yeah, and I told you so...

This is a good thing. He can now get in game shape so when he cracks the lineup now he won't have to play so much catchup and be limited to 8 minutes as a result.

Well I can only speak for myself, but when I was younger I used to drink to get drunk, so I'd go for whatever beer had the highest alcohol content, which was Max Ice (7.1%) at the time. Half case of this s*** and I was good for the night... Now that I'm much older and somewhat more mature... I drink whatever beer tastes the best to me, which in my opinion are the light beers, Coors Light (4.2%).

This is exactly what I want to change. I have no problems at all with trades/signings having their own threads. Doesn't matter if it fills up the front page because the ones that are deemed comment-worthy float to the top, anyway.
