I just had a good laugh at all of the experts on here who contributed to the "Fire Ken Holland" thread, but are now reluctant to part with any of our "overripe" prospects because all of the sudden "they like our team" too. And to everyone who understood that the current NHL landscape doesn't allow for any individual team to compete for the Stanley cup every year, please pat yourself on the back for defending him like I did. As for a trade to "get our offense going" - We currently rank 6th in the NHL in GPG and 8th in PP% (all after scoring only 4 goals in 3 games in 4 nights). I think the question is "should we make a trade for a new goaltender who can make a save in a shootout?"... kidding.

If Babs has any sense, the next practice will NOT BE OPTIONAL and will be full blown shootouts ONLY. I don't care if Jimmy pulls a grrrrroin during practice, these guys need to learn to score and he needs to learn how to make a ******* shootout save!!! They should hire a shootout coach... After the full shootout practice, ladder drills until they puke.....tweet! AGAIN!

Jimmy is not athletic at all and that's what you need to stop guys with skill. That's why the "Jimmy is average" folks keep getting upset. He just can't stop those guys at his best but it has nothing to do with his work ethic. His Celing is just not that high. No need to get upset about it. However, the "Jimmy is an elite goalie" folks need to have their head checked. He's not elite.

Eeehhhhh...call me kooky, but I really don't like the Heatley/Voynov comparison guys. Tragic consequences result when you make the extremely irresponsible decision to drive dangerously. Heatley did not consider the consequences, and someone died. Choosing to (allegedly) *beat the s**** out of someone you love is not "irresponsible." As a woman, to be honest it is frightening that some people don't see this difference. It was not an "oops, sorry, you accidentally ran into my fist lol." What Heatley did was a tragic accident. He did not set out to intentionally murder his friend. Voynov did not "accidentally" abuse his girlfriend. If guilty, he knew *exactly* what he was doing, and it was his intention to do so. While both scenarios had tragic consequences, the similarities for me end right there.

August - THIS TEAM IS GOING NOWHERE! FIRE KEN HOLLAND! TRADE FOR *Insert name* OR TANK FOR MCDAVID! December - No need to make any trades if we don't have to. Let's all just be patient and hold onto prospects and let them develop. In a way I envy them. They truly live in the moment.

SportsK all the way. Amazing site. I recently bought a really cool jersey from them and then was bummed because it was too large. I sent it back and they returned a smaller size so fast that I was very impressed. A lot of people on this site including myself have had a great experience with them. I would go with the second link above.

    Calendar Wallpapers!

Huge fan of Matt's wallpapers, was using them every time a new one came up and always check beginning of the month for a new one. It feels very awkward after all this time not having a Wings calendar wallpaper on my computer during the season. With some free time today, I decided to make my own and will share here as well. They aren't Matt quality of course, but they'll do. I tried to keep a similar theme that we're used to here. 2880x1800 - http://i.imgur.com/5pWxSve.jpg 2560x1440 - http://i.imgur.com/C6NFES0.jpg 1920x1200 - http://i.imgur.com/uXAfElE.jpg 1920x1080 - http://i.imgur.com/B2bHeK8.jpg 1680x1050 - http://i.imgur.com/8o0d6Pt.jpg 1440x900 - http://i.imgur.com/BhQQ2y7.jpg 1280x800 - http://i.imgur.com/UJJYns0.jpg 1280x720 - http://i.imgur.com/Dq0SzIJ.jpg Here's to hoping the lack of quality will bait Matt back into creating them!

babs is far too stubborn when it comes to the shootout. I get if you don't like it but its apart of the game and doing the same mistakes over and over is what, lazy?

I was talking about Columbus....They won't win very many games in regulation. They need them to go to OT to win recently it seems....who are you guys talking about?

I totally agree. But Detroit should have had more than one PP tonight.

Anybody remember that time Paul Holmgren traded Bobrovsky for a second and fourth round pick so that he could land Bryzgalov? Worst part? That's the third or fourth worst trade of Holmgren's tenure as GM.

Maybe so, but that hardly suggests a league wide conspiracy in favor of the Columbus Blue Jackets (lol). Also, considering we get more powerplays that we give, does every other team in the league have a solid argument for suggesting the league has a pro-Detroit bias? Of course not. That would be silly.

That's kind of the point I was trying to make--there have been some comparisons in this thread like "well, Heatley didn't get xyz punishment so why should Voynov?" Heatley's punishment is irrelevant, and should have absolutely no bearing on Voynov's punishment. The two offenses are unrelated, and just because some here dont think Heatley got punished enough that should have nothing to do with Voynov not getting an appropriate punishment if gound guilty.

1st place in their division. 3rd in the conference. 6th in the league. PK is 2nd in the league. PP 8th. Goals For 6th. Goals Against 7th.

Heatley made a stupid mistake. Voynov made s conscious decision to beat his wife. Dee the difference?

I'm going to get my nachos on the way home, but I don't know if I can drink so many beers. This weekend was rough. I drank enough on Friday, to not remember what I did Saturday morning. And I repeated that Saturday night Sunday morning. But I'll give it my all.

    LGW Moderator Problems

I'll get these two out of the way first... This never happened. I checked, because getting a PM that puts a $ figure on the management decisions made on this site is a monstrous slap in the face and something I would've absolutely remembered if it, you know -- actually happened. There is no single faster way to get yourself perma-banned on this site (other than being a 1st-post blatant troll) than directly insulting the moderators on here. It's surprising how many people feel a persecution complex and think it's a personal vendetta when they have a posted edited/deleted. Now, this may sound harsh: You're not that important. Really. ___________ Now that that's out of the way... Moderating is an absolutely thankless job. It has been stated continuously that you simply cannot keep everyone happy. It's an accepted fact. What Harold, vladdy, MB, Jedi et al have stated is absolutely true. Every thread that gets removed, every post, gets moved to a special sub-forum within the moderator forum. It's all there. There's discussion on how to handle certain situations that come up if disciplining a member might be required. They volunteer their free time to help keep the ship righted. I'm immeasurably indebted to them for doing so. I've also stated repeatedly that I have absolutely no problem with dissenting opinions on this site -- it is what makes for a diverse community. Let's face it, no one wants to have the forum turn into one giant circlejerk where everyone agrees with each other and it's all lollipops and ponies. Now this may come as a surprise, but: I do reply to PMs. Yes, I'm incredibly busy day-to-day, but I do make time and I do get notified. Now, if you have a concern about the moderating or another poster, just let me know. Be an adult about it, and I reciprocate. "THANKS FOR THE POLICE STATE!!1!" PMs will be summarily ignored (you know who you are). It is very rare I get PMs relating to something like this at all. I'm not the boogieman. I have reversed moderating decisions. Now, it doesn't happen often, but it does. You know how that dialog gets started? PM me. Moderators make mistakes. I make mistakes. We're not above rectifying them. I do want your feedback! There are good reasons that this site has been around for over 18 years now -- this baby is already heading off to college. It's been built upon that sense of community, of taking care to listen to the suggestions and concerns that the members here share, and by a fantastic moderating crew. The last thing I'd want this site to become is over-moderated. I'd love it if the site didn't even need any. Anyone that knows me on here knows I'm all for no curse filter, some good animated banter that doesn't get personal, etc.. But I don't want comment spam. I don't want flame wars. I don't want cursing just for the sake of it. I'd like to think of this place as a virtual sports bar, with each of you pulled up on your own stool, with a cold beer in your hand and a hearty rant about the values of CORSI and Jimmy Howard's SV% on Saturday afternoon games during Leap Years when Mike Emrick is calling the game and Babcock is wearing his McGill tie at the tips of your fingers. Don't take it too seriously, and enjoy it in a manner that contributes to make the site better for everyone. Is that too much to ask?
