Nobody would get that. Think of all the high profile players that get traded, and NONE of them went for a package of a teams best young scorer and two top prospects. None of Spezza, Kesler, Ryan, Seguin, Nash, Gaborik, Iginla, Carter, etc. etc. etc. moved for a package like that. None. So why would anybody think that's what it would take to get Hall? Because he's so much better? He isn't. Everybody always thinks that to get a good player the Wings would have to give the world. But the very fact that a guy is being traded means his value is diminished. The only guys that would require Nyquist, Mantha, Mrazek TOO START are truly elite guys (Toews, Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos). And those guys don't get traded.

    Are the Wings a Contender?

Are you suggesting that we aren't a true contender because one time Henrik Zetterberg got cross checked? Lol.

I think they'd all be good suitors, as well. The biggest issue with moving Kindl, I believe, is the term on his deal. One less year on his deal and he's gone by now, IMO. The Jets seem like a perfect place for him to go, considering a lot of their injuries have some term on them, and they have plenty of cap space. Rumors have them offering a bottom six player (Thorburn, Halischuk, Peluso, Galiardi) in return for a defender. I'd prefer a pick, but at this point I want that roster spot cleared up above all else.

You cannot get rid of all veterans. Someone has to teach the kids how it works.

Everyone is going to be surprised what Hall does get traded for...if he does get traded. I know every GM tries to (and sometimes successfully) rape Holland, but come on, Hall is a great player, but he isn't Sindey ******* Crosby. Nyquist + Mantha + Mrazek + more? Some of you are saying Nyquist, Jurco, Dekeyser, Mantha, 1st rounder? Let's be real here. First off, Nyquist is only 4 points behind Hall in scoring, with 6 more goals. He makes $5M less and currently leads the league in PP goals. Mantha's potential is thru the roof right now, so he would be considered a grade A, blue chip prospect. Dekeyser was coveted by ALL 30 teams and would still bring a pretty hefty return if he were to be traded. If Holland traded Nyquist, Mantha, Dekeyser and a 1st rounder for someone, it damn well better be a 100+ point franchise player. Even in my previous posts I admitted that Helm, Smith, Pulkkinen should be enough, but it won't because of the Rape clause when it comes to Holland. But when and if Hall does get traded, people are going to be very angry that he went for less than the talent of Helm, Smith and Pulkkinen. You are right though, Edmonton will most definitely asking for Nyquist and Mantha from Holland. In that case, f*** them.

I'm not worried about Backman, he will be fine. But I do agree that Ouellet needs to get up with the big club full time. Why Kindl is still on this team is beyond me. We're not going to get much of a return for him but I believe he can still be a serviceable defenseman on several other clubs. There are 3 teams that I think could use help on the back end right now, due to lack of depth or injury. The Oilers need help at every position, but mostly on the back end. Kindl could be a good fit there. The Islanders and Jets could also use a little help on their back end right now, because of injuries. Any of these teams could have him for a mid to late round draft pick or even future considerations. We can bare to lose the "asset", the roster spot should be more important to us right now.

Z doesn't have a no trade, which I think is what you're trying to say... And there's only so many roster spots, I can't imagine Edmonton would be looking for more of the same s*** they already have. I'd think they'd be looking for quality, not quantity, as well as some leadership to try to teach all the kids they have how to play. Then again, it's Edmonton. They might be hoping to trade Hall to themselves straight-up for Hall.

Yeah. Maybe a little hubris on my part. The proud Wings fan in me says “we don’t need that big-lipped potential dressing room cancer that eats up coaches like they’re chicken mcnuggets”. But you’re right. Technically, any team should want him badly. I get what you’re saying.

Okay. I couldn't remember the Varlamov situation to well, so I looked it up. What I read on CBC.ca is the following (link posted below): "Prosecutors said Friday that they are dropping a domestic violence case against Colorado Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov because they have new information leading them to believe they couldn't win a conviction." In the case of Voynov, he was actually charged with a felony count of domestic violence. Similar accusations as Varlamov, but different assessment from law enforcement. Either way, I am curious what you are trying to say here: Are you saying that Varlamov should have faced harsher penalty when he was initially put into police custody? Or are you saying that the NHL is acting to harsh with Voynov? If you worked with the NHL, what would you do? Personally I feel that when these types of accusations happen, it puts the NHL in a very tough situation. If I were Bettman, I wouldn't want to make judgements myself, I feel situations like this need to be assessed by people who see these things every day (ie. law enforcement, court system). When you try to become judge, jury, and executioner you will end up in a Goodell situation. I would likely link my disciplinary process to what the law enforcement/court system decide. So for example, if law enforcement decided not to press charges, I would let him play. You wouldn't want to run into a situation where if someone was falsely accused and the police deemed this, the NHL still suspends. But, if the system deems there is enough evidence to go to court, I would indefinitely suspend him. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/semyon-varlamov-s-domestic-violence-case-dropped-1.2472299

I agree, but let's be realistic if we are making proposals. This isn't NHL15 where you can just force trades.

Agreed. While I agree with Babcock's sentiment, especially given how well Jimmy played during actual hockey, the reality is that the NHL does have the equivalent of a home run derby deciding games. The Wings have been terrible at it, and it's costing them points. Suck it up. As for the Wings being fairly decent at it in the past. They've lost a lot of the guys who could actually score, like Bertuzzi. Howard is a problem. But man o man they don't score much either. I've said this before but I'm a little surprised that the younger guys aren't better at it. Seems like by sheer percentages the Wings should have a few cocky euros who know all sorts of ridiculous shootout tricks they practiced growing up.

Simple. To irritate people who REALLY like Smith. It's my way of having fun at your expense lol.

Jimmy sucks in a shootout Howard

Honestly, next shootout they should just throw Mrazek in cold and have Quincey, Ericsson and Al Sobotka as the shooters, because, what the hell, right?

They don't have mediocrity in the playoffs either, not past the first round.

    NHL Mumps Outbreak

That's because your commie country has commie healthcare. I'd rather stand on a pile of mumps riddled children than sacrifice the sacred bond between my money and the multi-national insurance companies who provide ever more expensive, and barely adequate, insurance. But off that subject. Sidney Crosby's a chode, am I right?

    NHL Mumps Outbreak

Crosby rule 2.0? Any attempt to mump, or accidentally mumping, another player in the head is expressly forbidden by the NHL. Players attempted a clean check are responsible for their salivary glands, spittle, and all other oral residue. Any player found in violation of these rules will be assessed a game misconduct and will be required to forfeit one of their lymph nodes to Sidney Crosby.

    Vaya con dios Damien Brunner

It was nothing compared to Samuelsson's move, where he'd put the puck on his backhand, skate in a circle, and do nothing with it.
