Top 6 go-to guy in Grand Rapids >>> Bottom 6 support guy in Detroit - (in regards to what is best for his development) Develop this kid the right way, don't rush him like we did Jurco. I understand that there is a huge difference between Larkin and Jurco, but Jurco was also a year older than what Larkin will be going into camp this season. He wasn't ready and neither is Larkin in my opinion. Let's see what he can do in the next few weeks, but even if he puts up a point per game, I still say he should start next season in the American League...

I think the change in sheer number of games, not only as a whole, but within a stretch of 4-5 days is the biggest challenge. I would not be surprised to see him in GR for at least the next 13 months - if, for nothing more, to allow him the chance to build his endurance. Not just skating, but in the weight room, in practice, and the physicality of the game. That's gotta take some getting used to before someone is ready. Do I think he could come up and be in the 80th percentile for three or four games? Absolutely. Do I think he'd regress to the 20th percentile after 60 games? Absolutely. I think you leave him in GR just so he can get a feel for how to battle with a balance. You can't go 150% all the time every time.

I see the Hawks letting Sharp walk and/or trading Hossa before anything happening with Seabrook. They have young players who can fill wing rolls. Not so much at D.

I think Chicago will do whatever it takes to keep him.

Does this compensate for the lack of legs in the one picture?

So Lidstrom wasn't actually an author of the paper, but his part in the research was so valuable that they gave him like an honorary authorship. Here's two articles: http://phys.org/news/2015-05-game-intelligence.html http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2015/05/21/red-wings-lidstrom-scientific-paper/27721325/ And here's the actual paper: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0125453

At the end of his presser Holland said it's their choice if they want to work under the new head coach and that they did sign them to the one year deal for that reason. So nothing is set. Keeping Granato would indeed be huge, though.

At this point, it almost has to be Blashill. Re-signing him to an extension last year that pays double what any other AHL coach makes, refusing to let other NHL teams talk to him...... Really. The guy is a winner. And the Wings management have clearly earmarked him as the plan B in case Babcock left...

LUDA!!!!! Damn. Always one step ahead.

I have watched this at least 10 times over the last year.

I have high hopes for Larkin but to think he is going to make the Wings squad next year is ludacris. He needs to adjust to the AHL for a full season or two. It will be interesting however how he fares against the toughest competition of the AHL off the bat!

Eh, not necessarily. They drafted him because he's an awesome centerman from Michigan. If he and Mantha become a dynamic duo because they just work that well together, awesome. But it shouldn't be forced. Finding chemistry and coming up with winning combinations is not at all an exact science. Having said that...I'm still hoping we get to see Athanasiou - Larkin - Helm at some point, if only for s***s and giggles. (Legion of...Zoom? Vroom? Va-Va-Voom?) (Cuz, like, the motor city and cars and stuff. GET IT?!?!) Man, we're gonna have a crazy-quick forward corps within the next couple of years.

Probably complete speculation. "Detroit has a lot of forwards, so a trade would make since therefor it means that there is one coming even though I have no real evidence".

With Meile and Nosek we still have good center depth. Much better than the editor depth at mlive, apparently. Bert with AA and Larkin. Mantha down with Zengerle and Nosek. Hoggan or Tvrdon up with Meile and Pulk. Should be three dangerous scoring lines.

Helm isn't going anywhere , seriously doubt it he can play the wing as well and has a ton of speed Tell Babs when he comes calling for glendening to pay up a 1st or take a hike lol

Amazing. We have two young floating Jeff Blashill's. 2 young floating Jeff Blashill's > 1 young floating Mike Babcock

Hasn't the Wiz criticized the Wings for lowballing players? I thought he and Kessler were two Michigan players who don't want to play for the home team.

Just goes to show how impressive detroit was at shutting Tampa down with how much Tampa has been scoring since. Hope that trend continues with Blash!

Yeah I thought both those guys were s***bags too. I almost had a stroke when we signed Cheli... Doesn't negate the fact that I wouldn't even want us to touch Lucic's toxic ass with Gary Bettman's dick.
