    Sean Avery - Transition Season

Most of us look forward to retiring, but most players don't get to leave on their own terms. They're just not re-signed. They have to go to the minor leagues or go on to something else with no training. It has to be tough. I had to quit the job I'd had for 15 years due to health, and it felt like I'd failed. I can't imagine how it must be for them. On a lighter note, did anyone see "Sean Avery- Transition" and remember that he used to work at Vogue and think, "Oh, man, what is he up to now?"

    Sean Avery - Transition Season

He was, and still is, a classless dick. He doesn't come off as even remotely sincere in the article. Wow, he flew one flight economy class. What a warrior.

    LGW Moderator Problems

We've confirmed that the recent influx of spammers are actual people, not spambots or anything like that. As such, there may not be much we can do to prevent the occasional attack. We have tools that make cleaning up these attacks extremely easy (one click on their profile and they're banned, content removed and ip-blocked). But unfortunately we can't use these tools until the spam posts are brought to our attention. That's where we need members to use the "report post" tool. When a post is reported, the system sends an email to each of the boards moderators and Admin. That way we get notified, even if we're not on the boards. One thing though, most of these spammers tend to attack the boards in the very late/early hours, when most people are asleep. LGW mods are just like everyone else, we have jobs and responsibilities that make it hard to be online at the time these spammers hit. So please understand that we will take care of the attacker as soon as we can, but it may be several hours before a mod can be online.

You said the article was a joke, then your advice was just a summary of the article, so you basically agree with him. Minus the incoherent ramblings at the end of your post.

    2015 Draft

I'd be ecstatic if we ended up getting Werenski...Maybe well get luck and hell stay at Michigan the next three years, then refuse to sign with his team, become a UFA and hell sign here to play with Larkin. They're supposedly really good friends.

I honestly think a lot of guys like him are brighter than they seem. I tend to think you've got to have something going on in your brain just to figure out how to be as big of an ass as he was. He knew what he was doing, and he did it very well. I think those questioning the sincerity of the article are way off the mark.

Yeah... If I had even a few grand right now, it would be a life changer. I can't pity his millions or give him any real sympathy at all.

Babcock or not I'm glad we're stepping away from Phaneuf

Hawks want a 1st + a top prospect + a top six forward on an entry level contract. If any GM gifts them this I will make it my personal mission to hunt them down and kick them in the Ballz. No NHL club should be doing the Hawks any favours at all.

Yandle is a ufa in one year and if he was that great in ny they wouldn't be willing to get rid of him right away No interest giving up mantha,1st + for one season

    Will Wings Revisit Signing Phaneuf?

Washington is a much better team now for signing those guys last July. Franson is in the prime of his career and fills all our needs. I would overpay. I do believe Phaneuf is the better overall defensemen though but, trading assets, terrible contract, LH'd and older.

    Sean Avery - Transition Season

Avery always struck me as a guy who thought he was more valuable to a team than he really was. I'll always be grateful that Kenny used him as the main piece to trade for Mathieu Schneider. He had some very good seasons for the Wings.

    Sean Avery - Transition Season

I thought someone had said that the players don't actually write the articles. At the bottom Avery is listed as "contributor." I don't doubt he's a smart guy and definite marches to his own drummer, often in an interesting way off the ice. On the ice he was an idiot though. And he glosses over the part that he "decided" to retire because no one in the NHL wanted him anymore. Avery had a great skillset, it just wasn't worth all the baggage and distractions that came with him anymore. He's still only 35 years old and could still be playing in the NHL if he ever figured out how to be a professional and a good teammate.

Frank, Phaneuf is not the "best option by far". If you're looking for the most rugged, physical defenseman available that can also put up points, the best option by far is Cody Franson. He wouldn't cost us any assets, he would come with a cheaper cap hit, he's 3 years younger, he's bigger, stronger, hits more, blocks almost as many shots, provides almost as much offense, he's a right handed shot, he is an upgrade in almost every area in my opinion... Franson > Phaneuf

    2015 Draft

They are really good friends. I actually know a girl that knows and hangs out with both of them. I'll tell her to pull some strings and get him to not sign and come play here. Lol. That would be incredible

    Sean Avery - Transition Season

Was going to basically say this. Obviously, he's not a dumby. He seems to understand himself and his skill set quite well. As a guy who thrived as an agitator, he understood that he was the villain, and so he did the villain thing 110%. Now he's known as possibly the biggest hockey villain of all time, so I guess you could say he was successful in his goals.

Khan says Wings are no longer interested in Phaneuf. I'm betting Babcock nixed any deal, like most of us believed he would.

    2015 Draft

I think the biggest reason is because he missed World Juniors with an injury. Also didn't play all that great afterward. Got demoted to the Swedish junior league. Also a defensive liability right now.But he has elite skating and skill by all accounts. Good sense. Someone will be happy they grabbed him in the late first/early second.

I was ready to make a joke about Avery, then I read it.And its shocking how down to earth and literate he is in the article. He seems like a well balanced person, which is something I didn't think I would ever think of Sean Avery... Thanks for the link!

    Will Wings Revisit Signing Phaneuf?

Yeah. I'm counting on them to draft some players and that's about it. Unless you can provide a link or something that says otherwise?

If his goal song isn't Axel F I would be very disappointed.
